1. I'm lousy at transposing so use 3 basses live - one in pitch (G&L L2000) - one DGCF (Spector - which i also drop to flat for one track!) and one CFEbBb (Precision - QOTSA & Rob Zombie). It's quicker to change than retune and I love my open strings. Could probably do it all on a 5er but, 4 stings are what I like. I use heavier strings on the dropped ones - the action is sweet with a bit of Truss rod tweaking We group tunings together so get a good run of songs before a change over and works OK (I think!).
 2. There's The Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton, The Robin 2 in Bilston and Kerrang Radio put unsigned bands on as Birmingham's O2 Academy. I think these are run by promoters .......... worth a Google!

 5. I love Purple too, and I'm not ashamed! A P bass I've no longer got was purple body and dayglo green scratchplate. The best looking I've seen was a purple stain Spector; closely followed by Rob Zombie's bassists purple/silver burst P bass.

 9. And according to Alex on FaceFook the prices are set to increase very soon - get in quick guys! I have to say though, value for money even with an increase. I had to use an Ashdown 8x10 at a rehearsal on Sunday - it was all I needed to assure myself the S12 was the way to go.
 10.
Unfortunately from that close up I don't think the pickups are Di Marzios (IIRC they should have allen key pole piece adjusters rather than solid ones).
You are correct Sir.

 12.
Yep, if bought from eBay it will be a genuine Fender.....as they weed out dodgy fakes with a ruthless fevour.
Post of the year for me that!
 13.
If you are really lucky the pickups might be DiMarzio.
+1 on that I've got the same in my P - and tremendous they are too. New neck on that mate and it'll be a keeper I reckon.

 15. OTB all the way - I love it through an S12 - swap the valves if its a bit too 'gainy'.
 16. It's just the best rig - OTB + BFS12 = heaven
 17.
Be really careful replacing the drivers in them.

I had a really bad experience with a 410HLF - the previous owner replaced the original drivers (on advice from a shop) with some 500w a piece Eminence drivers. Low volume was OK but gig volume and due to the cab tuning/porting the thing farted and wheezed and almost shook my bass head off it due to the air being forced out of it. It was proper mental!

Luckily, a BCer did a straight swop for the original 100w drivers as he was making some 2X10's out of a beat up HLF and it all worked out great.
18.
The finish is incredibly hard wearing and has proven far more durable than the tolex-covered Marshall and Engl rigs of our guitarists.
+1 Had mine 9 months and not a mark on it.
 19.
You may be the carrier of an antidote to basschat gas
There's no such thing as an antidote!
 20. Chuffed for you mate, they are life-changers!
 21. That's fantastic news mate and good one Orange!
 22. I moved from an Ampeg SVTIII Pro & 410HLF to a BFS12 with the SVT - the amp in a rack with wireless rack was heavier than the cab! Didn't get on with the SVT/S12 combination so got an OTB500 and can honestly say it's the best sound I could ever hope for. The HLF is thunderous in the low/low mids - so much so I was rolling everything back and could never nail the 'sweet spot'. When I got the S12 I thought I'd have to bump the lows up again but, no, the S12 threw out as much low end (and better controlled) as the HLF with all the mid drive, which, IMHO, the HLF couldn't do - it was too wooly and the tweeter only made the scooping sound worse. I didn't even try an OTB until I got it - just took onboard all the reviews on here and went for it. I got a sound in minutes and I've not deviated much from that 1st five minute set up - the SVT had so much scope I was always fiddling with it and never really happy. I am now! And I can carry everything in one trip - amp/cab/bass/gig bag. I can't see me changing my rig [s]for a very long time[/s] EVER!
