CONs, not as warm or analog sounding as other more expensive boutique pedals. EH Bass MicroSynth (£150) - PROs, nice fat anolog sound with easy tone shaping on the fly due to slider design. CONs, quite large (although xo version is smaller), doesnt track as well and sounds are a little limited. My two pence is that the Digitech is the cheapest but also pretty decent for the cash however if I saw a G-5 for a decent price I would be all over that! If money were no object i'd be likely to plump for the Markbass (pending some proper online reviews) or the Octavius Squeezer. I've deliberately not mentioned the Boss SYB-3/5 cause they arent particularly great in terms of sound or tracking. Hope this helps.[/quote] It does. Thank you very much.

The autowah settings are really good as well.[/quote] Hello mate, Im definately interested. A few things. Im hoping it's a lot better than my Boss ME50 synth sound on my multi effect. Ive use Boss for g****r for many years and always thought it was fine. For some reason the synth on the multi effect I have is rubbish! Also Im using the DHA adaptor for my Korg Pandora, so its just the pedal. Im not sure if there would be some adjustment because of this or it's more or less a swap. I haven't looked on the bay yet Ive just replied here first. Have a think and PM me. Cheers Mr Fudge

In the title really ... Looking for a stomp box that gives a reasonable synth effect. I know there are some mega expensive ones, Im looking to colour the odd 80's cover we do. I have a Boss ME50, which is pretty good except when it comes to the synth. I may be looking to swap/trade my DHA VT1 which I never use. That of course may be for another thread. Just looking for a bit of advice to start with please.

RUSH... NEC 1982/3?

Hi folks! As I imagine like many bass players here I started life off as a g*itarist. During these long winter I can't help get a bit self indulgent and attempt to play some of the guitar I loved in my youth (Youtube is great). Im especially into old Rush, Kim Mitchell, Van Halen and bits and pieces from late 70's again. In a nutshell Im looking for an amp/ effect I can put some headphones into and flail away like some 80's nerd throw back without upsetting the wife and kids too much. Ive looked on the bay and there is loads of stuff. Im after something small with a good range of effects and mains powered. It would be purely for use at home. I know zoom pioneered a lot of this stuff when I was a serious gu*tar player, but that has been decades ago and I dont know what is out there. Any suggestions, Ta in advance.

My old man fell ill about 8 weeks ago. He was 69 and generally indestructable. He died 3 weeks ago tonight and I am still completely numb and in shock. I haven't really been here or anywhere else for the last three weeks. My band has been using a dep as I don't want to leave my wife or 3 kids alone for 1 minute. This may sound odd, but on rare occassions you can get a stinker of a string. I restrung my Jazz recently and the E string just wouldn't play ball. The intonation was so obviously out to the ear I wondered what the hell was wrong with my bass. Eventually I swapped it for another new one and everything was fine. I don't know why this happened but was very relieved it wasn't my bass. The strings were earnie ball super slinkys, so I dont know if there are a bad batch ou there?

My brother in law recorded some drums with Badly Drawn Boy last week if that counts.

I think you have to know where a bass player plays. I started playing bass many moons ago from a massive love of Rush. A Geddy line is usually well up the neck, probably more to cut through that wall of noise gigging 300 times a year when he started out. Back to the bollocks playing rather than grace under pressure.
