1. Moi aussi! vigs! I've always pronounced it as Russ mentions! Ooo la la! Fosk - see, told you it was a nice bass!!!
2. A classic bass! Wish I'd got the cash to make an offer! Hi Mike!
3. We've got a prog band round here called `Brotherhood's Roundabout' - if you are from Peterborough you will get the name!
4. Bump o the day! Some more interest (from Finland!) but nowt firm (ooer!)...
5. Phil is a very good player - recommend you check him out! Nick
6. velly tastee! Nearly had a Stealth VI some time ago - lavly! I do actually prefer the original `angular' Status body shape and Rob was considering my suggestion of a `vintage' re-issue range!
7. Thanks Nik! I actually worked out an approximate figure of all the basses I've ever owned - came to around 140 instruments! Now, if only I'd kept all of 'em! There are certain areas of the collection that are deemed `investment' potential, but there are a lot of cheaper basses that I've bought over the years that hold sentimental value, such as my very first bass (Aria CSB-450) that was originally traded in against my second ever bass, an '83 US Precision standard - the Aria went to Kings Lynn and came back to me (via a secondhand shop) in '89! Boring eh!? Nick
8. Hallo! Thx for the comments! I don't really have a problem with the collection, its just that I need a bigger house! I've got a working `team' as it were; many of the others are simply there for my own interest etc. I know Mike very well - he's a good lad! Nick
9. Some of my fave `Squire' moments can be seen/heard on the `9012Live' DVD - the tune `Hold On' being a great one in terms of his `clanky' yet pure Rick sound; not much midrange but his bass sits perfectly on Alan White's bass drum - the very last main section (just before the end riff) where he hits the low C on his bass pedals and the fuzz on his bass - awesome! Starship Trooper is another good one! Nick
10. ..I'm not rich, I used to be once, many years ago! I started collecting whilst I was still at school; all the money I earned from various part-time jobs went into basses. I was lucky in that my main job whilst in the 6th form was as a weekend salesboy in our local `Music Village'. This was around `87 and so you can imagine the scene, a 16 year old wannabee funkateer surrounded by Wals, JayDees and more Trace Elliot than you could imagine etc. I used to get the pick of what came in secondhand, such as my '77 StingRay etc. They really were the glory days - my manager used a Vigier and he'd tease me with it as he would never sell it to me! He has some video footage of the shop somewhere, would love to see it! Marcus - my Alembic Anniversary model cost me just under £1700 which was a steal really (Ebay job) - I'd say you could pick an MK standard up for around £2K

12. Allo Does anyone else have over 50 basses? I'm currently at critical mass (seriously) with 57 basses and around 13 guitars. I must stress that this is not in any way shape or form meant to prove anything (other than that I am completely nuts and am about to lose everything {including my mind!} in my quest for furtherage of bass fulfillment!) but I'm intrigued as there are some really great collections out there in Basschat Land. My collection has grown rapidly and having gotten involved here, I've met some really great people with some really amazing basses. Am I mad? Cheers. Nick
13. ..bit of both really. Who said that, come out, where are you (must get to Specsavers)

15. Lets hope that Fiat don't start designing basses eh readers? ..the Maracas bass? Rich - did you know that we are today's top posters?!!! I enjoy playing in front of a mirror - good to keep an eye on the technique you know!!
16. +1 for Schaller! I love the old ones, the 3D job with string space rollers! Nick
17. Allo! I've used mine for nearly 4 years with no probs, however, as noted, I'd also recommend trying another bass, with higher output. Does the LED actually illuminate at all with your bass (sounds as though that might be the issue - if its not lighting up, you don't know where you are at, hence you are overdriving the input stage?). I'd personally get the whole unit serviced. Might be worth contacting Markbass to find your nearest service centre - www.markbass.it Nick
18. hehe! Like I say, it has grown on me! Unlike the Fiat Multipla....!
19. Hi Bigwan! You know, when the Bongo was first unveiled, I thought it was one of the worst looking basses ever - however, being a good mate of Andy at Strings and Things meant that I got chance to spend some time with one and after that, my views changed completely - a superb bass and again, one on my list of wantees! I've also grown to like the shape - very comfortable to play. Great days! Nick
20. We've all gone `porn-crazy'! Love those Cutlasses (sp). I had a black Cutlass II some years ago - very 'eavy!! Nice one Steve.
21. Allo again Dave!!! Cross-forum pollination eh?! Your custom is just...well, wheres me Kleenex (meant in the nicest poss. way!!). Nice to know I had a tiny bit of influence on the headstock!! Ah! Just noticed the double LEDs in the inlay at fret 24!! Very tasty! Should be getting the refurbished Neptune bass back anytime soon - can't wait! Nick
22. Thanks again Rich! I can't recall the serial # of the red tint bass, but I think it must have been an '88/'89 model as you note. The ebony board bass is superb - if I'd got the money I'd buy it back; it used to be my main bass! And I know where she is!!!
