1. Pubs around here just aren't paying the same now. A few years ago you would get minumum £200 for a pub gig, heading towards £300 Now pubs only want to pay £150! Problem is, years ago 20 pubs 20 bands, everyone got a gig. Now 10 pubs and 20 bands....the pubs can dictate to prices, supply and demand I suppose!
2. Excellent gig last night. Venue was packed out. Set was tight and both the band and the crowd fed off each others enthusiasm. Overall Pete and his cohorts rocked the place! Considering there was no time for a sound check, levels were all sorted out in double quick time. Bass sounded great, with some warm rich tones coming through the mix. Spoke to Pete afterwards, thoroughly decent chap as any of the band are. More than willing to speak to folk afterwards.......if anybody out there wants to see a tight, good well balanced band that just love what they do, then you could do far worse than catch Nearly Dan. Oh and Pete, by the way........I've been told I am NOT getting to buy myself a Roscoe!
3. Bump up for tonight and tomorrow!
4. Have a bump.... Love the BB414.....so much I got a metallic orange and a black one!
5. Hello Paul Good to see another Scot on board........and, A fellow Spector player....got to love the Legend.
6. One gig, after set up, did sound check...everything fine. Then just before going on, remembered I hadn't changed the battery in my bass....quick as a flash, dived into my case, produced new battery, swapped for old one, just in case it packed in mid gig.....plugged in and we were off and running........apart from the fact the battery wasn't fitted in properly in the rush!!....first number, cue the bassist frantically swapping basses, retuning and coming in just in time for the outro....oops!
7. Bump up indeed. Anyone in or around these areas, get down and catch these guys, you won't be disappointed. Me and the missus and a few hangers on will be in Edinburgh Pete.

I love my BB414...so much so that I've had my metallic orange one for some time....and then saw a black one last year and decided I wanted/needed it!! The wife of course throwing a wobbly that I have 2 basses the same just in different colours. But as most of you have said....workhorses they are indeed, fantastic tone on them, just great all round basses with fantastic value for money. Alas I think my orange one will have to depart....need to shed a few basses to be honest, and a toss up between orange and black.....I think I'll keep the black!
9. The nerves are a good thing, and really no matter who you are, I think we all have a certain degree of nerves before going onstage. They will disappear as you are going through the set, and, by the time you reach the end of your 5 songs, you'll be dying to go back to the beginning and do it all over again. Good luck and let us all know how it goes.
10. Now I'm not the biggest Blur fan in the world...take them or leave them really, a few decent tunes over the years....but I thought their performance was shambolic, absolutely terrible. there.....I've said my piece!
11. Oh....I forgot to mention the B sides as well.......Fury and Easily.....fab stuff.
12. Origin of Symmetry has some totally cracking tunes for bass players...New Born, Plug In Baby, Bliss...just to name a few. My personal fave album though is Absolution....some good heavy riffs in there.
13. I try to get everything as close to the original as possible, the vast majority are there. But the odd one maybe needs a wee tweak. We sometimes elongate the song by doubling up a chorus to flesh it out a bit, and maybe add a few bars in there, or indeed shorten a few longer more mundane songs, so again possibly an outro has to be a slight bit different. But yes, on the whole, to be as close to the original as possible actually terms the phrase...covers band I suppose!
14. Bought a Line 6 G30 wireless from Pablo. A few messages back and forth and it was on its way. Arrived almost to the minute he said it would, well packaged and all in mint condition. Pleasure to deal with and would recommend him to anyone. Cheers.
15. Had a great gig last night up in Anstruther. Rocking set, punters up dancing, owner loving it, sound mix just right....all the good ingredients. More of the same please!
16. Thumbs down about the gear. Major thumbs up for the tune and performance.

18.
You can't win. If you play the usual cheesy cover band tracks (Summer of 69 et al) then you are accused of being unoriginal. If you play slightly outfield stuff then you get blank looks apart the weird couple standing at the back. There's nothing wrong, I think, with an eclectic mix as long as you aren't too precious. The only thing that matters is that the punters in the sort of places you play like it. If stuff is dying a death then drop it and try something else.
If playing a pub that like rock style stuff then we have the usual suspects, All Right Now, Summer of 69, Highway to Hell etc etc, but we throw in the odd curveball with stuff that not everyone plays, like, Hedonism, Plug in Baby, Arlandria. And instead of doing 1 Status quo track we do a medley instead. Like has been said, if you have played the venue before you get to know what the crowd like and dislike and alter the set accordingly...it has worked ok for us so far anyway.

20. If you are playing in a random boozer filled with different ages etc, then the set will please most folk. We have a similar dilemma, everything from ACDC to Pink, Muse to Katy Perry and Kinks to Lady Gaga. If its a younger age group in the pubs the oldies are left out, a more mature audience and the Beatles and Tina Turner etc are wheeled out. Sometimes its nice to play a diverse array of tunes. As for Use Somebody, we used to open with it, get it out of the way and often it felt flat, but, we learnt to play it late on, the drunks go mental for it!! All in all it looks decent enough....as for All Cried Out and Toxic....I would love to do both, I think our singist would be awesome at both of them.
21. Welcome to yet another north of the borderer!
22.
I bought a Led Zeppelin CD off ebay last month that the seller insisted was an original 1970 pressing.
Big effing LOL!
23. A few hours in the studio, a few tunes, some banter and a few beers... All in all, sounds fab to me.
