New song in the set last night straight of the camera, but actually the sound isn't a complete mush. A bit dingy on the lights, but they reckoned it was the light boxes that took out the power last time (not quite sure why they waited 'til the very end of the night mind ) Guitarist put them to FB & not sure if I can embed so here should be links Unconditional Love by Street Legal Are You Ready To Rock - Thin Lizzy Well you knew the second was Lizzy, but you might not have known Street Legal in the first vid. A cracking band from Norway As covered by The Alibi @ Cheers Bar, Bognor Regis 8 April 2011.
Added on FB....*like* Seeing as I Haven't posted for a while here....here is a wee compilation of one of our gigs a couple of weeks ago.....
Too true Jambo!! The thing is, they looked quite nice from a distance but rough close up. Part of the problem is I don`t drink, then they might have looked okay! As the old joke goes, I have never went to bed with an ugly woman but have woken up with plenty. (copyright Jimmy Logan, 1935) Jez
Jings...only 1935, seemed older lol. I don't drink while gigging, band policy since the singer used to like the odd refreshment and missing verses to go with it, so I see where you are coming from. The lights from the rig can make even the worst munter look decent at times
Well last friday in East Kilbride, 2 females were "stroking" the neck of my Jazz and saying that it was "long and hard, just as they like it." I might have enjoyed it but we were playing country girl at the time! And no I didn`t, ya dirty minded monkeys! Jez
Well, you will go to East Kilbride!!

Did a charity gig last night for a laydees function. Packed the set full of girlie favs, Blondie, Pink etc etc. Went down really well with the dance floor jammed most of the night and several people asking for cards and phone numbers, for the band that is, not personal numbers alas!
-
Totally awesome, very well done. I doff my cap to you sir.
-
Not the easiest to do by any means. Did it myself a while back, and it took me ages! Tend to agree with the others about tuning, might not be you, but the track. All in all, good though.

oooh, if free, will pop along to edinburgh.

Played a new venue on friday night, had a vast stage area and acres of space to move around in which was ace. A younger crowd, so packed the set with oasis, feeder etc to keep them sweet. It paid off, they were up dancing away and the whole night went really well. No cock ups which was a relief and the feedback from the punters was good. All in all, a cracking night.
-
Did a wedding gig on friday night there. Was supposed to get into the venue about 6:30, but they were running late with the meal, no big deal, so by the time we got in and set everything up, there was no chance to sound check, just had to go for the first dance. luckily sound levels were pretty good, a wee tweek here and there. Had to drop x amount of numbers from first set, which was fine by us, it's their time after all. All in all we got some good feedback, several people asked for business cards, 4 people added our fb page from it and we got a booking for a wedding next year, so I suppose we have to say it was a success.

Even pay split between function band members
Jambo10 replied to harvey1-8's topic in General Discussion
Workload split in my band is like this: I book 99% of gigs I own PA I produce paperwork and posters I set up / pack down PA (singer pretty good at helping out) I sort set lists I arrange practice venue I record and mix demos I liase with venues / customers I make stage backdrop etc I own lights I set up / pack down lights I play bass Singer sings Drummer drums Drummer complains "drum sticks aint cheap y'know" Guitarist drinks and plays guitar Cash gets split evenly...............................................hmmmmm time for a chat methnks!
Im thinking your chat is long overdue!! -
theyv recently said in news that this years reading and leeds festival will be the last time they play origin of symmetry tracks, absolutely no reason to watch them anymore after that IMO.
If they said the same about Absolution album also, then I would wholeheartedly agree.

Even pay split between function band members
Jambo10 replied to harvey1-8's topic in General Discussion
We split monies evenly, apart from 1 venue which we have a regular slot as its a 2 hour drive each way. so I get an extra cut, which the others actually proposed as I cart the PA and the guitarists gear in my van. As for who does what.... Singer normally gets the bookings, not all of them, but the majority. Guitarist looks after the PA and keeps it all working and also does the website. Myself, I do all the setlists and cart all the gear around and the drummer, well, he treks more miles than anyone else to practice and gigs so he isn't asked to do anything else. The drummer, guitarist and myself all set up the PA and light rigs etc and the singer plays games on her phone while we set up! And my missus comes to most gigs and takes pictures and videos for the bands website/facebook page etc. -
I've been a Muse fan for about 7 years or so, seen them in up and down the land and abroad, and even met my wife at wembley watching them....but, yes I agree, while I love their music, well, mostly, just like any band they have a few sh*t numbers, Matt does kinda wail a bit much from time to time. But, the plus side for me is the basslines, for some strange reason I just cannot get down New Born, dunno if its my builders fingers or what, but just can't seem to keep up with the pace. Yet, Hysteria isn't a problem. probably have learnt half if not more of their catalogue and to be honest Chris was more responsible for me picking up the bass again than anyoner else!
Although not a televised show as such, this clip is advertising Sammy Hagar's new autobiography 'RED' which covers his career in music. In order to highlight a passage in his book which concentrates on Eddie Van Halen's alcoholism, he has used footage from their 2004 reunion tour and (IMO) altered the mix to show how messed up Eddie was at the time (1:14) after showing the same song at their 1991 prime. Granted the footage is bloody awful.... Eddie was battling drink and drug addiction and going through hell everyday. But I feel that this is an absolute cheap shot by Sammy on a guy who was quite obviously messed up. And just to sell a book!!
Ohhhh Eddie. That just ruined Van Halen for me!
Back in the pre digital days when tape speed sometimes played at different pitches... my favourite ever YouTube clip They've since tracked her down & she is remarkably good humoured about it
OW!!...my ears are now bleeding...not to mention every dog in the street is now wailing! -
and a huge wedge of cash...im a newbie too and at my level would opt for a cheaper Squier,i think sometimes people want the original purely because its a real P bass so must sound better,my ears havnt honed to spot the difference as yet.
I had a squier a while back, in fact its still upstairs yet, though the wife wants me to punt it on, but I normally use fenders, just that bit different and better, yes, a bit more pricey, but if you intend to keep it, go for fender.
Yup, Muse jumped straight to mind for me too, I can't seem to find it but a mate once showed my Muse on top of the pops when matt was just waving his hands around the keyboard at one point.
You mean New Born........ -
Personally I hate putting any dings in my gear, granted, they will get them from time to time, but I still hate it. As for throwing your gear or trashing it, I couldn't do that, spose I maybe have respect for my gear, I play Fenders jazz and precision, and wouldn't dream of launching them. As for the arguement about Creed and Alter Bridge, the guitarist in our band loves Myles Kennedy to death, he dragged me to an Alter Bridge gig recently, and, fair play, they were ok, not altogether my cup of tea, but I thought he was going to jizz himself watching Myles lol.

Love it when Muse do chat shows etc and asked to mine, they have taken to swapping instruments and totally taking the piss out of the fact they are being made to mime........ -
Wish I had seen this post before your gig. Was through in Edinburgh catching a few bands that weekend. What kind of stuff do you do?
-
Played in a hotel in Callander last night, we played there last year and it is a pretty nice venue, downside is that its a 4 hour round trip for me with the PA etc in the van. Gig consisted of 2x 1hour 10min sets roughly, band sounding tight, punters seemed to enjoy themselves anyway and toddled off home quite merry. A pretty fast take down of the gear, finished playing at just gone midnight and was driving out of their carpark at 12:40 and home for 2:30. All in all a good venue but the distance is a killer.
