1.
Hi Eude, I'm in danger of becoming the Ramp anorak here, ha ha. I find both very ramps stable, and rest my thumb on each, pretty much every time I play. Also, I took the ramp off the Bolt-On Percetion a while ago, and it was fine, no damage to the finish. Most of the force applied to the ramp is 'downwards' i.e. across the tape, so it is very stable. hope that helps. RK
Very helpful mate I'm thinking about trying a ramp on my custom 6er, was just a little worried about damaging the finish, especially seeing as it's got a lovely Ziracote top, similar to yours! Thank you and enjoy yer bass! Eude
 2.
You need a Dingwall in your arsenal... oh dear I seem to have one for sale! However, to address your original question - I've owned USA and Euro Spectors and I have to say that if you are looking at the Steinberger shaped models you may as well include the Warwick Streamer in your options; there are more similarities than differences and you may just find that the 'W' suits you better than the original... Spector!
+1 here, I actually find Streamers nicer to play and I've never seen a Warwick that didn't have impeccable build quality. There's some amazing secondhand bargains to be had on here and the new Korean built Pro Series look to be phenomenal value for money, and I'm amazed that this >> http://basschat.co.uk/topic/196981-fs-ww-ps-streamer-lx4-white-as-new-615l-till-monday/ is still here... Eude
 3. One more >> http://basschat.co.uk/topic/203331-fender-squier-japan-1984-a-series-32-precision-medium-scale-mij/ Medium scale might not be what you're looking for, but its a lot closer to the kind of basses you've been playing before... Eude
 4. Sorry to hear about your issues One more for the mix... http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_corvette_basic_short_scale_nt.htm
 5.
To be honest, as much as I like Shuker and ACG, I don't want to try the custom route. I am not sure why!
Fair doos mate, Well the Euro Spector 4's on Bass Direct's site certainly look very nice.
 6.
Hi Mark, yes, the ramp is fixed with double-sided tape rather than by mechanical fixing, so it can be removed if the need arises. I have one on each of my basses, both fixed the same way. Very secure, but still removable. I didn't realise how much work goes into a ramp, Martin sands down the ramp to fit flush with the pickups. (I also didnt realise he was making this one to match the body layers, with Walnut under Ziricote). Brilliant work. RK
Hey mate, lovely bass! Quick question for you, when fixing a ramp with double sided tape, is it secure enough to use as an anchor for your thumb, as you would a pickup? Also, is there any risk to the finish of the bass?... Thanks! Eude
 7. +1 for Lakland. I remember being blown away by Funkle's Skyline 44-02 a few year's back. Very nice to play and a great modern aggressive tone, particularly from the bridge pickup. I've never been the biggest fan of the look of those particular basses, but the sound and playability more than made up for that! Spectors are fine fine instruments, incredibly well made and pretty reasonable value for money when you compare them to others in a similar ballpark. My only problem with them has been the reach required to play 1st position, if you're shorter than average, like myself, you might find them quite uncomfortable to play. You've talked previously about maybe trying for a custom bass, maybe now's the time? My vote would be for an ACG, but you seem more of a classic style guy, bar the bongo, so maybe a Shuker J or P might be a good idea? Jon would build you something pretty awesome for around, or maybe even less than the cost of a similarly specc'd Spector. There's obviously the issue of the wait, but his times seem to be much improved lately. Having owned a custom Shuker modern style Jazz I can confirm it nearly played itself, the nicest Jazz bass I've ever owned! Eude
 8. My vote would be for the ACG, but I'm a little biased, however you're used to having a 5 string, then I guess it would have to be the Sadowsky. The vote for buying an ACG 5 string isn't a bad one though, there's some gorgeous stock ones available right now, which would give you a bit more flexibility than the Sadowsky with your preferred build quality... Eude
 9.
I may see about getting the neck profile to be similar to my ACG too
Smart move
 10. Sounds nice matey!
 11.
I like the black plastic
Me too
 12.
I did think about that but decided no
Birdseye Maple cover?
 13.
Think you are right about the silver. The graft is great as its all black but not sure I want black on this
Excellent taste
 14. What colour hardware you going with again? Normally it would be black for me but for some reason I think chrome might look just right on all that purple, plus it'll set it apart nicely from you none-more-black Graft version
 15. That's going to be a peach matey , albeit a purple one. Looking forward to seeing this develop!
 16.
everyone should own at least one warwick - they're epic Obviously I'm biased, but the thumb is a classic and believe me, they lack *nothing* in the sound department
+1 Nothing missing whatsoever from Warwick in the sound department. The ergonomics can leave a little to be desired, the Thumb in particular, but I still love the look, might see about a medium scale Thumb is I ever win the lottery... Eude
 17.
There's more info on the other Show thread - in Off Topic I think. I can't be more helpful myself as I know the guys from Proel (Cort distributors) and have been sworn to secrecy. But it's all on here if you have a look.
How very mysterious...
 18.
Just had a look at all the photos I took at the LBGS, but I don't have any of the Cort stand I'm afraid (probably didn't take any because there were too many people standing in front of it at the time). Sorry.
No bother, thanks for taking the time to check
 19. Bit of a shot in the dark here, but I don't suppose anyone noted what the microhead was in use at the Cort Booth? I only noticed it in a photo on Facebook but I didn't recognise it...
 20. Wow! Thanks guys! Lots of good info there! The Promethean does do exactly what I want and I'm probably an idiot for considering moving it on but I really just fancy a change... Eude
 21. Hey there, thinking out loud about amps at the moment, I'm considering moving on my Promethean P5110 Combo for a reasonably loud (up to about 500W max), reasonably small amp head, as I already have a nice EAD cab, but I'm wondering what's out there with an Aux In and Headphone Out. I've really come to rely on these features now and don't think I could be without them. I've been looking at the Markbass Big Bang, bit pricey though. The TC BH250 looks pretty good, but the EQ might be a little too basic - would like separate low and high mid controls or at least a parametric mid control, it's potentially a little quiet as my cab is only 8 Ohms and I'm very concerned about build quality. I like the look of the Ashdown MiBass 2.0, but have the same EQ concerns as with the TC. So what else is out there folks? (Before we start, please don't suggest buying any amp plus a headphone amp, I'd rather have it all in one compact box, hence why I've posted looking for some input...) On a side note, there was an interesting looking microhead at the Cort booth at the London Bass Show, don't suppose anyone knows what it was?... Thanks you lot! Eude
 22.
I don't understand why bass players want deafening amps. You just need it loud enough to compete with the drums - then it goes through the PA. In the old days 100watt was considered more than enough. Now its 500 watts, etc.
+1
 23.
I've seen them in Red Dog Music in Edinburgh. I tried one there - really enjoyed it. Thinking of getting one when it comes to gigging again (or when I have that much disposable cash to get the 2x10 also!) Got a brilliant tone from it (using a 70s reissue jazz bass).
Red Dog is a fair ol' distance form me these days since I left Edinburgh I've just checked the TC site and GuitarGuitar are TC Dealers, the Epsom one isn't too far from me and is a great shop too, very friendly folks and reasonably sized bass department, may just pop along if I end up not going for a Big Bang... Eude
 24.
I have the IPOD / MP3 connection on my TC head, you can also plug it into your PC sound card or any interface with the right input. I found it's probably the most useful feature on my amp as I can rehearse in silence and play along to songs at the same time, no more waking the kids up or annoying next door! I also use in conjunction with an MBOX and protools for getting ideas and "my amp sound" down. I use it that much I got rid of my little practice amp. Went to a gig on Sat and the bass splayer was using a mini mark combo, was very impressed. Cheers.
Cheers for that mate, I've seen the TC head, the BH250, right? I like it, but there's a few things missing... I'm currently using a 500W head and although I'll never ever need it's full wattage, 250W would feel a bit too much of a drop as I'm only using one 8 Ohm cab. I also love the sound of the MarkBass LittleMark and really like the separate Low and High Mid Controls. You never know though, I might end up with one yet, who sells them here in the UK? Eude
 25.
Finally have a working Big Bang ! The last two had a fault with the headphone out. Basically, when you plug the headphones in the power LED flashed & this could be heard throughout the headphones ! Not any more. Very happy with it so far. Definitely warmer than the F 500. Couldn't say which I prefer at present. Will have a few gigs this week so that will be the deciding factor. I will try & post a video comparison soon as.
I see you ended up moving yours on, any particular reason? I'm thinking of picking one up, I loved the sound of my ol' LittleMark and would go for one again but I really need the Aux In/Headphone Out. I've heard from many sources that the Big Bang sounds a lot warmer than the F1/500, is that the case? Do you reckon it's similar to the LM? Thanks dude, Eude
