OK, decision made, I'm going all Ashdown. Watch this space
I wouldn't trust Ashdown with these portable head, the LG and Superfly were both disasters.
I would, the MiBass heads have been reliable pieces of kit from what I have heard, plus they do a 5 year warranty on all heads now, possibly the cabs too, not sure. The LG and Superfly were a long long time ago, and if you skip through the pages on here there's plenty of other microheads that routinely fried out too. The 220 isn't class D anyway, just the 420. Eude

To answer my own question, the 420 has a Class D power section, same one as the MiBass 2.0 I'd imagine, and the 220 has a more traditional solid state power section, that's why the 220 is more than twice the weight of the 420... Eude
Aesthetics are the best I have seen from Ashdown too. Credit where it's due. Wonder how much it'll cost?
Apparently the heads will list at £399 and £299, not sure about the cabs. Should be shipping in March. I'm very impressed too. Can't be sure if these are Class D or not, they are quite a bit heavier than the usual Class D lot you see. Eude
For the record I am happy with this cab. It is far from crap ......It is less than £300 hahaha! It is not as good a an Aguilar DB112 but they are £725.... It does have a a credible low end, better than The EBS Neo 112 better than an Aguilar GS112 again not as good as a DB112 but they are £725..... It does have a low mid presence like a GS112, it is far from honky. Again it is not as smooth as a DB112 but they are £725.... I need a small light box for doing little gigs in London. I have tried the above and had a DB112 for a while they are the best 112 on the market but they are £725 and they are 28kg on the tube that is a no, although I did hump it for a while. It wont last as long as a DB but the sonic performance is quite ok and if it gets monkeyed by the suited chuffers on the tube. I Will just buy another one. It depends what you want in life...... i have expensive gear, boutique gear made by Ashdown and other manufacturers, but it dont get carted on the tube.... But it has to sound great... I bought mine early on so the tolex issue must just be the ones I looked at. A lot of people have bought them on here and no one has said anything about this... The mood seems to be positive with this cab.. But even though its less than £300, £300 is actually still quite a lot of money, I try all my stuff before I buy it, which makes me a weirdo, as seeing as everyone else on here seems to roll their gear every week, they clearly aren't..... If you want the best wide frequency 10 then you should look at a EA wizzer 10, but they are £625 I am happy to pay this type of money for a cab if It does what I want, most arent.
PM'd
Be sure you try it first. These Promethean combos have a great sound, it's hard to find a replacement that'll sound as good
Thanks mate.
Well, with two Mi10's you'll be able to gig with any drummer, i recon. Just be sure that you won't miss the top end zing that a piezzo can provide.
Thank you mate. Now I need to find out where you can buy that set up and if they'll do me a deal Cheers, Eude
Hi Eude I also have a P5110 combo and had a Mi10 that i used with my shuttle 9.0. First of all, you won't be able to use two Mi10's with the amp because the Mi10 are 4Ohm cabs, the Mi12 are 8ohm. What i can say from my Mi10 is that the cab is well put together, beautifull fit and finish, light, easilly portable, nice bottom end but the top lacks a bit (doesn't have tweeter, only a HF extention cone, like on the wizzy). It can handle some power without farting but it will only cope with a mild hitting drummer. One or two Mi12" will be a better option if you plan playing without PA or use for rehearsalls. I can safely say that the Promethean combo can handle a gig better than the Ashdown Mi10. Cheers
Thanks very much mate! They actually, very quietly, re-released the Mi10 as an 8 Ohm cab, so you can run 2 at a time now. Do you reckon 2 x Mi10s would be a decent bet, or would I end up missing the Promethean? My only reason for changing is for changing's sake, just fancy something a bit different... Eude
I just got a Mi12 it joins a LB212 and a CL610. For less than £300 quid its a cracking cab. It has good smooth highs and its very punchy. It also has great tight low end. It has a natural very smooth low mid hump which makes it cut through the mix very well. I normally put 150 -200 watts or so into it thumbwise. I normally use a spyder 550 or a LB30 with it and its got a great level of volume but obviously not as loud as the CL610.... . Also testament to a decent designed crossover / tweeter it doesnt sound harsh with the valve Amp. Very pleased with it. Two downsides its big, its is defo the biggest 1x12 I have seen. Its an easy one hand lift though. Other problem is the tolex on some of the cabs is a bit wonky. Not really an issue soundwise. I bought mine from a well known, large dealer so was able to sift a bit. Its a great looking cab and looks a quality job. I bought mine so I dont have to use my LB212 on small gigs. I love the LB212 its the best small cab I have ever had and it records amazingly well. So I want to look after it....
Thanks for the info mate. Unfortunately "defo the biggest 1x12 I have seen" and "the tolex on some of the cabs is a bit wonky" are the death knell for me. I was really hoping that the 1x12 would be a compact design, I can't stand bad QC, and it seems that the Mi10 cabs aren't really up to it, bit boxy and have had folks concerned about power handling. I think I'll have to start looking elsewhere now. Thanks for your input anyway folks. Eude

Rumble V3 500W Head >> http://www.dawsons.co.uk/fender-rumble-v3-500-bass-amplifier-head Rumble V3 200W Head >> http://www.dawsons.co.uk/fender-rumble-v3-200-bass-amplifier-head A lot cheaper than the UK List already, which is £500 for the 500W and £300 for the 200W. I'm very much in the market for a new rig, albeit a little one. I wonder if the 200W will be actually 200W, some class D ratings tend to over egg a little. Apparently the old Rumble 150, rated at 150W, had the same power section as the 300W Genz Benx Shuttle 3.0 and the Rumble 300, 300W, had the same as the Shuttle 6.0, which was rated at 600W. If the 200W Rumble head is actually 200W of usable power, I think that'd likely be enough for me... Eude

Does anyone here know the ETA for these in the UK, and prices? Over the pond on Talkbass, the MiniMax 400 and matching 1x12 cabs is priced so you can have a stack, i.e. head and 2 x 1x12 cabs, for $600! Even if we end up with £ = $ pricing that folks like Apple seem to employ, they'll still be a bargain! I've been waiting for Peavey to enter the whole class D/micro amp thing for a long time, still miss the tone of my old Mark IV head, not the weight though. If these can deliver the Peavey tone, with their usual rock solid build quality and real wattage, I think they'll sell well. Now hurry up and take my money Peavey! Eude
I've just ended up with this beauty. I've has Sei's and Alembics and the build quality on this surpasses them hands down. It's an incredible instrument.
Great news mate, glad to hear you're as impressed as I am with my basses. I've not compared it to an Alembic, but ACGs beat everything else I've tried. That's a beauty of a bass mate, enjoy Eude
Hi Eude I gave both a good run. I didn't try two of the Mi10s, but I plumped for the Mi12 in the end anyway as it was just bigger sounding and had a lovely smooth tweeter in it. The Mi10 sounded boxy to me, which I guess is unsurprising as it is not much bigger than a cardboard box anyway! There are two Mi12s for sale here on BC at the mo, so you could sort yourself pretty cheaply if you want to go that route. Cheers Gareth
Hey Gareth, thanks for chiming in so quickly! I was worried about the Mi10 being boxy, the Promethean for some reason doesn't suffer too badly from that, but I'm fairly sure there's some kind of Japanese Voodoo involved there, even Ibanez haven't managed to recreate the magic in the newer version they created... I was planning on buying through Andertons who are doing insanely good deals on MiBass heads with cabs various, cheaper than buying the cab secondhand! Cheers mate, Eude

Hey there, I'm going to get myself a little rig very soon. Based on the Ashdown Mibass 2.0, but I'm swithering between having a single Mi12 1x12" cab and 2 Mi10 1x10"ers. For the last little while I've been using a Promethean P5110 10" combo and have really enjoyed the compact design and portability. Does anyone have any experience of the Mi10 cabs, and if so have you tried two of them at once? Just wondering if it would provide enough bottom end and power to do the output of the MiBass 2.0 head justice. Failing that, I guess I'll need to go for the bigger Mi12 cab, and maybe add another one of them further down the line. Thanks guys! Eude

Thanks Alain! The build quality of these basses is simply amazing, a properly handmade instrument put together by a master luthier for less than a second hand factory line jobby. The only reason for moving this on is that I just don't really get on without a low B. Not in a huge hurry, but I'd like to put a deposit on a new ACG. Price is negotiable, within reason. Eude

SOLD! Hey guys, This is definitely for sale now. Sorry for any previous changes of heart... This is an Ibanez Promethean P5110C Combo it's one of the good, original ones with a removable 500W class D amp head in a 1x10 combo. It's an insanely flexible and loud little box, which is held in high regard and now that Ibanez have clearly gone mental, they're not making them anymore, so they're quite hard to come by. I've used this at home, predominantly for practice, but it has had the occasional outing where it easily kept up with a drummer, can probably be used for a non-metal gig up to about 100 folks without PA and then on stage for monitoring purposes when a PA is necessary, and that's all just in it's standard format, you can always whip the head out, or hook up an extension cab and you've got a 500W rig... Check out this review/comparison for more info >> http://www.bassplaye...-benz-3-0-310t/ I've owned it since new, it's in perfect nick, bar a very small quirk in the finish, about the height of a 5p, which was on it when it shipped. I've got the annoying bag for it, and the original tags and instruction manual. As far as a sale price is concerned, I reckon £400 is fair, but I would like to move this quickly now, so I'm open to offers as long as they're not offensive or insane. Absolutely no trades I'm afraid. I'm in South London, well South Croydon/Sanderstead as far as collection is concerned, happy to ship at buyer's cost. Finally, some pics... Cheers, Eude

Very nice matey -
SOLD Hey there, I am selling my ACG Finn 4 string. As much as I try, I'm just not a 4 string player, and as much as I will likely miss this bass, the proceeds from the sale will go towards another custom ACG with at least one more string It has quite a balanced, modern sound I'd say, with a bit more natural presence in the mid range thanks to the Wenge neck and fingerboard. Its very lightweight, probably the lightest bass I've ever own, and balances beautifully on a strap. The bass has never been gigged, or even left the house once and as a result is absolutely immaculate. Here's the specs ACG Finn 4 string (no. 0117) 33" scale. Very lightweight Alder body with a Tulipwood top 3 piece Wenge neck with asymmetrical profile Grain textured MLF Finish on body and neck Wenge Fingerboard, 24 frets with no radius ACG FB Pickups (slim humbuckers) John East Treble/Bass controls, with a 4 way rotary pickup selector (Neck/Neck and Bridge in Series/Neck and Bridge in Parallel/Bridge) 18mm string spacing at the bridge and a 40mm nut Black Hipshot A Type Bridge, with Gotoh GB7 tuners Here's some pics >> The bass comes with a Fusion F3 Gigbag >> http://fusion-bags.c...ss-guitar-16486 Cheers, Eude
