1.
Iv since been in touch with them again and they were hesitant to answer when I suggested it was an ex demo. They also tried to tell me that Hartke "do not provide manuals with their UK stock as it is too expensive to do so". Clearly they're BSing. They're taking it back tomorrow anyway, and I'll be sending a message to Larry with photos of how his new flagship is being presented by guitarguitar.
Good result mate, take your business somewhere else, they're clearly not worthy of it! Eude
 2. Might even be worth mentioning that you asked for advice on here and there was a unanimous "send it back - they're taking the piss"...
 3.
You get a High Five if ever we meet
You're on. I'd settle for a shot of Nessie though
 4. Is there a prize?
 5. Here you go >> http://basschat.co.uk/topic/93207-1981-gibson-victory-artist/
 6. Gibson Artist >> http://www.flyguitars.com/gibson/bass/Victory.php Our very own Neepheid has one refinished in Gold by Ou7shined Eude
 7. There's no way that Hartke would send out a photocopied manual, Larry Hartke is very proud of his products and his customer service, I imagine he would be pretty peev'd at these guys clearly selling ex-demo, refurb, or secondhand gear "as new". You could dob them into Hartke and see what happens, but I reckon that could take a while. I've had very mixed experiences with GuitarGuitar, at least in store anyway, the Epsom one is seriously awesome, but I was treated very rudely in the Edinburgh one a while back, waited over an hour, while the shop wasn't even busy, to get a trade in value on a mint Trace Elliot combo, only for it to be £200 less than the market value, and what I eventually sold it for elsewhere. I'd send it back and order one from somewhere else, I'd probably recount the experience to Hartke too, take some photos before you send it back. Best of luck mate, Eude
 8. www.joinmyband.co.uk might be worth a look mate. Best of luck. Eude
 9.
This company continue to impress. That is one ridiculously well packed tiny amp.
500W and a gain control and that would be some real competition for LittleMarks and the lower end GBs. As it stands though, it's perfect for a gigging bassist that moves around a lot and doesn't require solely on the amp for volume on bigger gigs. There are similar things out there at similar prices, but there's just something about this thing. I really hope that Ocatver and the Spectracomp come out in pedal formats... Eude
 10.
Hopefully on track to ship at the end of the month....!
Brilliant news mate! (on a side note, was the 32" scale a pricey upgrade?...)
 11. Wonder what the price will be?...
 12. New head version of their BG250 Combo. Check it out! >> http://www.tcelectronic.com/bh250.asp I'm not sure it'd be for me, still undecided about TC Gear, but, it does look pretty dang cool! Anyone digging their BG250's?... Eude
 13.
I've shot an email to them but the guy that looks after me is out of the office until Monday so I won't hear anything before then. I'll let ya know if he gives me any details.
Thanks dude, really appreciate your help
 14.
That's strange, Polar are usually on the ball with replying to emails. I'll drop them one and see if they have any news.
Thanks man, you were going to be my next port of call if I had no luck, what with you being "Mr GK" n'all It might just be me, perhaps a memo went out to everyone telling them not to reply to my annoying emails... I should add, Alex at Barefaced was also fantastic with communication, like Ashdown, I ended up not going in that direction, but I should point out that he's very good at answering queries, questions etc. Eude
 15.
No problem bud, I've been meaning to post a review but not had the time/been away! Yeah I've seen the threads about the bracing, at the moment I'm not too bothered as I like the sounds I'm getting although its good to have options. I'm away at the moment but hopefully they'll still be for sale when I'm back! Be interesting to see what the new prices are though, and if they remain cheaper than the neo range.
Based on the US pricing, I reckon they'll gone in under the NEOs, but at the original prices the first lot were at, so nearer £400 for the new MBE 212. I've e-mithered the UK distributor asking about availability, but as usual I've not heard anything. <rant>I rarely get any response from manufacturers or distributors in the amp business, which is really really poor. The only folks, in my experience, who are prompt, friendly and seem to value customers and potential customers are Ashdown. It takes very little and it goes a long way... </rant> Eude
 16.
It's great so far, although I'm still yet to gig with it but I don't have any worries about it keeping up with the rest of the band. I'm playing through it hours at a time in practise and it sounds great to my ears. Only niggle is the build quality, feels a little fragile but this is probably because I'm used to throwing around indestructible Peavey and TE cabs I might try and get another one, not because I'd need it really, just because!
Thanks for the update mate The build quality has come under fire a little, over on Talkbass anyway, but I think a bit of DIY bracing and dampening can really improve things. Bit of background here for ya >> http://basschat.co.uk/topic/179802-i-finally-got-around-to-dampening-bracing-my-laney-cab/ They've moved the production back to the US for these now, and the revamped ones look different, which is why the price is so good right now, if you want to get a matching one, you might need to act fast while they're still available... Eude
 17. Seems the tweaked US built versions of these cabs are on the way >> http://www.amazon.com/Gallien-Krueger-212MBE-II-Bass-Amplifier-Cabinet/dp/B007SQZLU8 I really like the new design Eude
 18. Wenge all the way for tone, however the SS1 looks great all maple, plus it's good to have a bit of variety in the range in sound and looks, so my vote would be to stick with the maple... Eude
 19.
Arrived today, looks pretty cool in the flesh, although I might change the grill to cloth if I keep it. Only plugged in for a quick test as I'm off out but first impressions are great. Nice and clear, punchy bass. I cranked the volume and didn't get any nasty noises at all. I underestimated just how light it is as well! I'll give it a real test tomorrow and let you know how it goes.
How you getting on with the cab mate? I love 2x12 cabs and want to get one in the near future to run with my Promethean head and this little GK just seems too good to be true!... Eude
 20.
Or, dare I say it, a high-quality bitza or parts build. Which assumes you know how to get to the sound you want.
You could get some really nice Warmoth bits and have someone like, DoctorBass build and finish it for you?...
 21. My money would be on an ACG J Type, lovely modern, original take on the classic Jazz in my opinion >> http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2012/03/11/ac-guitars-introduces-j-type-models/ If you really want a properly trad jazz though, Jon Shuker makes some lovely more traditional ones. Eude
 22.
iPod's an interesting example though because its design aesthetic contributes to clear functional limitations but people like the aesthetic enough to work within them even to the point that they don't really notice the limitations. Sounds rather familiar to the world of bass cabs...
Good point mate, although in my opinion, the real functional limitations of the iPod stem from iTunes more than anything else, awful awful awful bit of software Eude
 23.
Thanks Eude! I knew someone would understand where I am coming from eventually. I have no dopubt Apple borrowed heavily from a fair few previous ideas haha! The other thing I like about Aguilar is the minimalism. Small classic fonts, nothing 'in your face', just classic yet modern approaches. I even think their pedals look fantastic, and its a pedal!!!
I think MarkBass have done a great job too. I never liked the Yellow to start off with, but it's grown on me, and it's immediately familiar because of it, more clever design... TC Electronics have also come up with a good look for their kit, unique and utilitarian, and their aggressive marketing has brought their kit on leaps and bounds in a very short space of time. Folks could learn a lot from these guys. Eude
 24. I've not really been one to mess with settings on an amp, I tend to do it all on the bass, and if anything add a touch of bass and mid if necessary, so if the amp sounds good as it is, that's all you need! I'm glad to hear that you're managing to use it for something other than metal/rock/punk, which seems to be the amps natural tone, at least with the stock valves anyway. Cheers, Eude
 25. I should add, I really like the look of the Baer stuff too, and I haven't read a bad review yet! Classic, simple and robust, with nice branding - good work fella Eude
