Conversely your job as a bass player isn’t to f up to he mix by fiddling with your feed to the FOH - that would be amateur
-
Obviously the suggestion to clean the jack sockets was a separate one to opening it up, not some ceremony to be performed before you open the amp up!
-
Sometimes switched jacks can get corroded and not register correctly leaving an open. Not promising it will work in this case, probably won’t if hitting it reconnects the signal but another thing to rule out as the cause....

plug and unplug jacks into the effect loop input and output many times... then open it up and check nothing has shaken loose. If that's no good and it's going in the bin I'll have it!

+1 (Though some of the tiny 15w bass amps can be a wee bit depressing to play through)
-
Conversely IME selling on basschat is harder but if you’re open to trades you get offered some really nice gear
-
Prefere the sound of the B3n but the function and features of the B3

If you’re not going to play in public for a while something like a zoom multi fx pedal would be a cheap way of giving you more sounds and tones. New strings are nice too if your sound sounds dull. If you want to get playing with people, then a secondhand rig from here would be good. Combo or head and cab is your choice based on how much you have to spend and if you want to carry bigger heavy things- there’s some good gear at low prices in the amps for sale forum at the moment - it all depends on what’s around for sale near you.

Treasures of the future. ( basses of course)

Gus - I think the further from Leo fender we get the more we will appreciate the designs. Mind you apart from seeing a photo of @BigRedX with one, and prince I’ve never seen one in real life. -
Finished Pics! Psilos Phoenix Dreadnought Acoustic
LukeFRC replied to Andyjr1515's topic in Build Diaries
go on.... a convex shaped acoustic! -
Do you not think that someone should make a digital multi-fx with metering of some kind.... how simple would controlling gain levels or setting up a compressor be with a bit of metering??
-
yes. When it came out there were a load of folk on talkbass saying how it was "it" - I could never get it dialled in in a way that didn't sound utterly OTT though.
-
@Al Krow - thanks for this thread - I've had fun trying out some of your settings- esp the Glam comp

is it possible that you've just done something to your wrist and need to give it a few weeks rest to recover?

I might be missing something here... but won't harmonics always be in tune?

I just sold a load of old football kits my parents had had in their loft from when I was young. So I sell a 30 year old kit in Kids sizes.... Buyer: Hi mate, got the kit, the elastic has gone in the shorts, but I don't want to return it. Me: Ok, Im really sorry, they seemed fine when I checked them . Buyer: Leaves negative feedback. Buyer: can I return them as the elastic has gone... Me: yes of course If I had noticed his negative feedback I would have been less inclined to say yes mind

think I saw that one, with a J in the bridge? Looked like a tidy bass. Nice price too

Simplify it by ignoring some of the knobs... Set the bass and treble at 12 o'clock - add or subtract to taste... Set the mid at either 10 o'clock (flat) or around 2 o'clock if you're playing something with two pickups or want a bit more mid bite. So a nice three band Eq... simpler Set all the paramentrics bang on the middle. But set the frequency for the left hand one at 30Hz. Then ignore it. You've now got a 3 band eq amp that's way simpler to use right... But if too boomy, just tweak down the 30Hz parametric to control the boom.

Status have released a new limited edition mark king signature again
-
From memory it was added the same time as the B15 sim

my 2p, presuming it's similar to the B3n in terms of models.... - you either need a cab sim (so use 100%) or you don't... something like the 810 sim is going to have a attenuated top end, and a massive fat bottom end - depending how you have it set up (if you're running a compressor after) it will sound like a big tweeterless 810 cab! the Ampeg 410 cab has a tweeter - if you compare the two you'll notice! The first mic is a nice "bass cab sound", the is a SM57 or something second lets more treble through, and tends to be pointed at the tweeter if it's got one... so on the 410 cab the SM57 mic acts like a tweeter control... Try the EBS cab for something utterly unlike the 810 as it's a cab with a lot of top end. Of course I'm talking about a completely different pedal to yours so your mileage probably will vary!
-
If it’s like the cab sims on the B3n the second mic option will have more top end to it, so turn that up

Think I’m going to need to try one. For some reason I expect it to be a bit “meh”

for me selling comes down to either money or space. Do you need the money more than you need the bass? And do you have the space. I live in a smallish house, ideally I would sell a couple of basses because of that... when it comes down to it, one is the bass I've had the longest of any I've had (10-15 years) and has lots of memories. The other is a bitsa I spent more on than I should putting it together and I wouldn't see much of that back, and no one else is going to rate a body built by me and electronics designed and built by me... so no point selling that either...
