I’ve been amazed seeing the value and desirability of first early 70s and then late 70s Fender skyrocket over the last few years.
-
I’ve tried the one on the right! First time I had tried a 60s fender - oddly enough, (having played a few jazzes) my first thought was”this sounds a lot like my Sadowsky will Lee jazz” Not sure that’s at all useful comment at all though. Love the one on the left.

they are quite powerful in fine tuning - esp treble boost if you use that. I really love the treble boost/pick attack whatever it's called when you pull the treble out, but with the passive tone backed a wee bit
-
I made the same switch last month in my Lakland- I don’t know about you but mine is early enough to not have a separate battery compartment - it was quite a tight squeeze to fit everything in! it is brilliant - mine is louder than passive As the pickups are so quiet! I can live with that! How did you find the adjustable bass and treble frequencies inside. I found the bass quite tricky to set to do what I wanted! FWIW in my measuring and converting from 34 to 35inch scale the bridge coil of the MM pup is 60s jazz position. (The whole pup is slightly further towards the bridge than a stingray positioning)

Which is a wee bit crazy really

Last time I was in the guitar shop trying something they had a CS P, was a lovely bass, but not jaw droppingly so... then asked the price ...! I think it was about £4K!

I had a thick grippy wide one on my old thumb bass (a 9lb one with neck dive) - and like you I found the neck dive I bigger problem than the weight. The strap could only cure it to a certain point and my shoulder and arm had to constantly be working against it. My old Peavey T40 weighed about 16+lb but balanced so for me when playing it was ok and like wearing a back pack. ive no back problems though and obv people who have will probably have very different experiences and medical advice, but for me a balanced 10lb bass would be preferable to a neck heavy 7lb bass

Stop showing us it - it’s beautiful!

He had a sunburst P on too before it but I missed seeing that

They both Look great - how does that P sound with the dual soap bars?

I think you can - I was. i went to art school and was literally trained to be creative, and then given tools to keep being creative and coming up with new ideas - even when I had no inspiration. Admittedly to be admitted to art school I had to show an aptitude towards creativity and a level of skill - but even that I would argue was nurture rather than nature. My mum encouraging me to be observant from a young age made a big difference. my education also gave me the knowledge of the rules and history of art and why to do things. Of intentionally breaking the rules and knowing why those rules are interesting to break. I started playing bass as a creative outlet that had no demands on my to reach a certain level - There are big gaps in my skills. But as I’ve learned to play I can tell that most the better players have a theoretical knowledge that means they can Play better.

Ild like the P... just saying!

Scary to think that I think when I registered for basschat 13 years back I would have been mid 20s ... It’s been weird having all these older folk with disposable income selling things for secondhand prices to upgrade the starter basses to being in the position to buy those expensive instruments myself. But it’s been fun, I’ve tried everything I want to try, know what I like and for me personally know that gear is not the thing holding back my musical genius... it’s time, talent, practice, commitment and ability

Part of me thinks that the lifetime membership to SBL would be a better prize for me. Ild use it, and then surely if I’m one of his customers Ild stop seeing his face before EVERY YouTube video I watch
-
it's my 40th in 4 years too! Shall I start saving for a secondhand Navy blue sadowsky PJ ?
-
I think the lockdown has led to a lack of traffic on basschat - we’re falling down the Google listings - so Ped is ordering nitro finished basses and starting fights about boutique American luthiers that’s only a handful of us have played... to get more traffic.... you wait, I predict Paul McCartney related thread next. thats my conspiracy theory, feel free to brand it on the back of your headstock!

It was the one interesting thing about this thread. How deep into internet wiredness will we need to go to find out?

So You are arguing that the meaning of the word in the English language can change from a lute maker to a bowed instrument maker when the style changed, but not from a bowed instrument maker to a solid body guitar maker? I am pretty sure that in American English, (and probably British English) the term Luthier would be used to describe the maker of stringed instruments with necks, eg guitars. Likewise Hamilton won the title last year - even though the Firarri was a quicker car and Alonso was getting better results than that awful McLaren disserved. But you are right going from a AC to a Stenback, to a Harley Benton will not make you a better player. me changing my Golf to a Mercedes Benz, or Citroen C1 will not make my commute to work any quicker. Some people will justify the cost of the Merc. The Citroen driver may look at me and wonder how I can justify the cost. So even though we probably agree that the bass, or car, is not the determYou are basically arguing that your choice of fender custom shop (like my Golf) is far better than the Merc (which you’ve never driven) because the merc is unaffordable (to you)?

What I’m really confused about. Why don’t you go and buy what I presume is a 70s fender precision bass like that man in the picture and Er play it and be happy. you could then make a thread along the lines of “look at my lovely precision bass like my bass playing hero of mine, it makes me really happy to own and play it” - and you need not concern yourself about other manufacturers that you’ve not played, and can’t justify buying and - well you’ve got a lovely precision bass so you’re happy ...
-
The oddest thing i find is starting an odd “they are expensive and crap and not with the money (though I’ve never played one)“ thread is picking a slightly obscure American luthier who I don’t think that many of us on basschat will have played either. not enough to care passionately about

So what was the question? TRS will have a common ground and two rings - one for each switch or Pedal. Which is why summing to mono didn’t work. work out the wiring and any pedal that works in the same way will probably work
-
You need to look up which ring is the ground - I’m pretty sure you can hook up two expession pedals, or two switches
