I can honestly say I've learned and improved my playing so much due to his basslines. They've been nothing but inspirational for me. "Nothing to Gein" has a heavy, funky and beautiful bassline all in one. He's my top rated bassist in all honesty.

I'm not usually one for using books to improve (I've just never got round to it actually) but I may start. Having the notation as well as the tab sounds like a really handy feature, I hate tabs but I'm not at the level of being able to read sheet music, that sounds like it could help this.

In rehearsal rooms I try and stay as far from the drums and guitar amps as possible, I feel you can hear everything clearer then. On stage (the 3 gigs I have played) I just stand where there is space.

Mike Portnoys drum sound comes to mind along with Ryan Martinie (Truckstop bet me to it), Fieldy from Korn, Les Claypool, Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders), Protest the Hero, Tool. There's so many bands comes to think of it!

To each their own, when it comes to playing (especially recently) I try and mess around with chords a lot, similar to the first video (obviously not as good though!). It depends on the context of the song and what you hope to achieve from your playing. Sometimes I prefer simplicity if it's called for.

Got a loan of a Dir en Grey album of a friend today (along with 16 other cd's). Listening to the full thing before bed, most likely inducing a nightmare or two.

It seems weird the way this guys went about it definitely, I wouldn't trust that. Saying that, I have had people come to my house to pick up stuff I was selling on gumtree, sold something today and he picked it up from my house.

Reminds me of just after Christmas last year. Phoned up the local GuitarGuitar. Me : Hi, I'm wondering if you have the Boss GT-10B in stock? GG : yes, I'm fairly sure we have it in stock Me : Would you mind checking? I just don't wish to come all the way into Glasgow to be told it's not in stock. GG : Sure *minute or so later* Yes we have it in stock. so I drag myself on the bus and the train it takes for me to get there (a good 5/6 quid on travel). Arrive at the shop to be told they don't have it in stock. Popped to the other local music shop (Merchant City Music for those interested) and they had one in stock and even gave me it at £290 because of their online price match policy.

I can't fall for them, even if I wanted to I have no money. Your move marketing departments.

I just think if it makes a noise and the player happy, so be it. It's the sound that matters not how it was achieved.
