1. Thanks for your replies guys. Yes, I'm going to go in at the higher end of what has been mentioned and see what they say. As you say, if you don't ask...
2. The thing is, really this will be 3 days in total. A day to drive out. A day to rest after travelling and then setup and play the gig, followed by a tear down and drive home. Personally I'd do it just beacuse it would be great experience and probably a laugh, but some people in the band would probably expect to be paid something at least for each day of their time. Maybe I'll just put in a silly quote and see what reaction I get :-) (Cos I'll be the poor sod who has to organise everyone) Did I mention that there are 14 people in the band and its like trying to herd cats sometimes
3. Hi Guys I'm looking for a bit of advice really. I've just been approached regarding the 14 piece band which I run doing a gig at a military base in Germany in December. The agency doing the booking wants a price from me to do the gig. Apparently they cover the ferry costs, fuel and accomodation. I need to get 16 people (14 musicians and 2 sound guys/crew) instruments and PA/lighting rig etc to Germany and back in one piece. Anyone have any suggestions as to the sort of ball park figure we should be looking at? To give you some kind of idea, we would normally be expecting around £1800 to £2000 for a wedding gig with anything more than an hours travel time involved. Anyone had to quote for this kind of thing before (I'm sure that some of you have...) Many thanks in advance for any words of wisdom. Cheers Pete
4. Hi The band I play tenor and Bari sax in called 'Bring Down The House' are in need of a new bassist as Matt has decided to move on after over 6 years in the band. Bring Down The House are a covers band, playing a mixture of weddings, private parties and public gigs with a broad mix of tunes to appeal to different people. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings usually 2 - 3 times a month and generally play anywhere between 12 and 20 gigs per year. The band are a great bunch, but you have to be in it for the love rather than the money as well paid gigs when there are that many people in the band seem to be few and far between. There's a sample of the kind of tunes that we play at www.bringdowwnthehouse.org. I'll be looking to run auditions in July with the aim of the new bassist being ready to gig at the end of August. Please get in touch if you would like more info or call me via the mobile number listed on the site. Cheers Pete
5. I'm a fan of Mackie stuff and pretty much exclusively use their speakers. It's not the best, but it's certianly not the worst and I've been running most of my kit for the last 4 years or so with absolutely no issues. For my pub band vocal rig we're using a couple of SRM350's (200W each) and another 350 as a floor monitor from a small 6 channel mixer and it's absolutely fine. Bigger gigs require SRM450's with 1501 Subs or for really big gigs I wheel out the 1232's but for pub's that's all way over the top. A pair of 350's can be bought second hand for under £300 YMMV etc. Cheers Pete
6.
Hi, Can you provide a link to the case or a picture please? Cheers, Lee
Hi Lee The case has a plate on it saying 'Voyager International Series'. Attached is a quick picture. Cheers Pete
7. Hi All Up for sale (SOLD) is my Warwick Rockbass Streamer standard 4 - 2 Pickup bass. It's in really nice condition. There are a couple of light scratches on the back of the bass but everything else is good. I'm just not using this bass since getting my P so am looking to sell it to a good home This bass is finished in Black Stain. Supplied with an ABS case and I'm looking for £120 collected (£100 collected if you don't want the case) from North Bristol or £140 shipped. Please get in contact if you have any questions or would like to take a look at the bass. Cheers Pete
8. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
9. 14 piece covers band with decent PA and lighting rig. Normally myself and the sound engineer load in and set up the PA and lights which at a steady pace takes an hour (by which time everything is running and all mics line checked etc). Following that, it's time to get the talent in and set up which can usually be completed in about 30 minutes followed by a sound check. So 2 hours max. This generally get's complicated by people not turning up at the time that they are asked to We can be loaded out and in the cars on the way home about 1 hour after the gig finishes.
10.
Nice bass, not a fan of your slippers though.
You're right, the slippers are a bit dodgy Bass now on hold pending sale subject to the usual.
11. Yes, still available. PM replied to. Cheers Pete
12. Bump for a price change and to mention that if you collect and don't want the case, I'll knock a further £20 off the asking price making this a bargain at £200 :-)
13. Now sold, thanks Martin! :-) Hi All Up for sale is my Spector Legend 5 string bass in Black Cherry finish. The bass is in very good condition, there is a small chip out of the plastic top plate of the head stock (which could be easily camouflaged with a spot of black paint) and some very light marks on the back. Apart from that it's great. The bass is active and has EMGSSD pickups and the NS curved body shape etc Pictures are availalable at http://drop.io/petes_spector5 I'm looking for £220 collected from north Bristol (or I can arrange a meet within an hours drive if that helps) or £240 shipped. The bass comes with an ABS hardshell case. I've just not got to grips with the whole 5 string thing and have decided to stick to 4's for the time being. You are more than welcome to come and try the bass out before you buy. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Cheers Pete

FEEDBACK FOR NEILB

Bought Neil's SX Precision and it's fantastic! Great communications and really nice guy to deal with. Sadly I've managed no work today as I cant put it down.
15. Hi There hmmm, I've got a 4 string Rockbass Streamer in black that's just sitting around not being played. Good condition, a couple of small marks on the back, but nothing to worry about. Do you have any pictures and whereabouts in the country are you? (I'm in Bristol) Cheers Pete
I've decided that as a beginner, having both a fretted six string and a fretted five string with similar pickups is not sensible. I've actually responded to a PM requesting pricing on a guitar forum where I mentioned my overload on basses. But just thinking about it, if I sold the V, I'd then look for a 4 thinking that having a six and a four gives me more options than a six and a five, and having just a six perhaps isn't sensible either. So, in the sense of "if you don't ask, you don't get", I thought I'd mention this here to see if there is a shortcut to selling and buying. No gig bag. Very nice condition. Blue. Originally bought from here.
16. Of course, you could create your pdf and then save it somewhere safe such as http://drop.io and call it something like 'JJTee_basspdf' so that no one would be able to guess what it is or download it :-)
17. Bu88er, got a rehearsal scheduled for next Wed's otherwise I'd have been there! Pete
18. I play sax in a 14 piece. (6 Horns, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Percussion, Keys and 3 vocalists). For my sins I also organise the band. I tell you, It's like trying to herd cats!!
19. Hi sk8 No sorry, i've got 2 Aggie GS112's so cant make use of another cab Thanks for asking though. Pete
not interested in Px a Neox112 by chance?
20. Hmm, not much interest in this so far. Anyone fancy making me an offer?? I can't really afford to drop the price too much more, but I would rather the cab went to someone who will use it rather than it just sitting in it's box for the next 12 months.... C'mon, hit me with some PM's
