1. New strings of original gauge fitted and problem resolved. Maybe string tensions were the problem between different manufacturers even though I assumed bigger gauge equals more tension?
2. Yes, in theory more relief would solve this problem but then the neck will be quite concave leading to higher action in the middle. Amazon delivery of new strings has just arrived so will put them on and see if the problem goes away.
3. My honest answer is that I didn’t measure the neck relief prior to the string change so it’s hard to put a figure on it but I can say that there wasn’t any string buzz at all with the old strings. What’s confusing me is that I thought that fatter strings would have exerted more tension on the neck thus exaggerating the relief. I only upped the gauge because they were the only new set I had knocking around, I’ll see if this is still a problem when a replacement set comes today of the originals.
4. Thanks for this, did you manage to sort yours out?
5. After a recent string change to a slightly thicker gauge my bass has developed a fret buzz around the first three frets, which I would usually attribute to the nut slot being cut too low, but what can you do if the bass in question has a zero fret which is showing no sign of wear and the neck relief hasn’t noticeably changed? Cheers
6. PM me with your requirements and I’ll see what I can do
7. Just done a deal with Mick on an ACG bass, great communication and easy transaction. Trade with confidence. Cheers Mark
8. I played only short scale basses for a few years during a period of injury and by a mile the Spector Shorty is the best one I found, they are expensive but I believe they are worth every penny.
9. I’m using a pair of HD 112’s Bearing in mind I used to use a Barefaced Super Twin, these are quite heavy in comparison for their size, but well worth it as they sound amazing, I loaded the appropriate speaker profile from the Berg website and it really does make a big difference to their sound.
10. That’s cheaper than mine was from the UK.
11. It’s a real shame that your amp purchase has turned out to be such s problem. I wonder if Jim knows what a hassle it can be buying direct from him if things don’t go smoothly. We need a new UK outlet or as you say people may be put off. I hope customs get things sorted quickly for you.
12. Congratulations for a well deserved award, i have 3 of Alan's works of art and love them all.
13. Only just seen this thread, great choice by the way! I bought my bluetooth foot pedal direct from Bergantino after buying BassDirects last Bamp. The transaction was simple and the duty to pay wasn't much. The pedal arrived within 2 days of ordering it, which is quicker than most delivery within the UK! I can't wait to see what you think about the amp, have fun!
14. Recently taken this in a part ex, it’s a couple of months old and has hardly been used. The flagship Markbass amplifier, the Little Mark III is the industry standard for tone, portability and value. OUTPUT POWER: 500W RMS @ 4 ohms / 300W RMS @ 8 £325 includes UK delivery. Thanks for looking.
15. Have just done a part exchange with Tonci, the deal has gone very smoothly. Good communication, money paid quickly and goods were as advertised. Deal with confidence. Mark
16.
News to me, but then I freely admit to being uninformed on such things. Can you elaborate please, or post a link to youtube or something?
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71Rvwqi98lL._SX466_.jpg
17. I always used to make my own but have recently been buying all my leads from Designacable through Amazon, quality components and decent price.
