1. Man, all i can say is give it some time! Also try using the B string as your thumb rest whilst you get used to the neck.
 2. Hi, Fancy a swap for my Clover Expression XP15.5 ? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=125188 Cheers
 3.
I really want this bass. Need to shift some gear to make that a possibility though... I might have a buyer for a bass I've got for sale which would make this achievable... will let you know, if it hasn't been snapped up before then
Great, keep me posted.
 4. For sale Lakland 55-01 in immaculate condition £650 ono. It's fitted with Nordstrand Big split pickups which has given this bass an unbelivable sound in comparison with the original MK1 Barts. (Pickups were £210, 6 months ago) It has a slim satin finish neck with graphite reinforcement bars and the rosewood fingerboard is fitted with 22 hand finished frets. The 35" scale length means that the low B feels great and sounds very clear compared to some 5 strings. Hipshot ultra-lite tuners and Lakland dual access bridge are as standard (can be strung through body or through bridge) The pre amp has controls for cut and boost to bass, mid and treble. There is a panning-style pickup blend control. The master Volume has a pull switch to go to direct passive mode. This is a great all round bass. 5. I had a listen to this clip through better pc speakers at home last night and it sounds very close to the current model. The bass has a very wide range of sounds ranging from thick and woody to very clear and open.
 6.
Hehe yeah, seriously. I wonder how the two compare sonically? Actually, I'm mostly interested in how the Clover sounds as I doubt I'll be getting a Wal any time soon Does anyone have any sound clips of a Clover in action?
Sadly I have never recorded anything with this bass. The only Clover Expression sound clip i can find are of an older XP 5 string model on this site http://www.bass-4-all.com They are in the "bass to hear" archive section. I hope this helps.
 7. Wow, very similar to the Wal MKIII But a lot cheaper
 8.
Not really familiar with Wal's myself, but a bass with those specs, those electronics and some good old German precision engineering I bet it's a really beauty. Wish I had the cash; I need to get a 5 string... any trades considered at all?
You are right about the German engineering, the construction of this bass is excellent, even down to the copper foil shielding in the control cavity. I must admit that I will be sad to see this bass go but i need to release some cash to go towards the Overwater that is hopefully being delivered today!

 10.
When was your 5-string made?
To be honest i'm not sure, i never looked in to it. I think it's one of their later models which has wooden pickup covers with the Wilkes logo carved on. Sorry not a good photo, taken in my office just after i bought it!
 11. I have 3 Wilkes basses, a 5 a 4 and a fretless which has the brass plates at the end of the fret board as mentioned by Conan. The 4 strings have Schaller hardware but the 5 has a custom made bridge. They have a triangular neck profile which is very comfortable to play. All round a great bass.
