I only play short scale these days and would also suggest the Squier Jaguar as a good option. I'm also lucky enough to have a Spector Shorty but still use my Jag regularly because it feels great to play, in fact I think it's amazing for the money. Just try one.

Picked up a bass from Gray yesterday, it was exactly as he had described. Trouble free transaction, a great guy to deal with. Cheers Mark

Just bought a cool rail pickup from Steve, everything went smoothly from start to finish. Cheers Mark

After 30ish years of playing 34" scale bass I switched to playing short scale basses due to arthritis in my thumb joint/wrist. I made this change about 12 months ago and have never looked back. I bought a Squier Jag ss just to see if if the shorty idea worked and after a few rehersals and my first gig with it i decided it was a goer. The sound of the band hasn't suffered in any way and i'm sure that most punters don't even realise it's short scale even though i'm 6 foot and 15 stone. There is a good choice of decent instruments out there, most companies now have short scale options in their range. I now mainly play a Spector NS Shorty which feels just like playing a full size bass just without the reach, it has a drop tuner and still feels good when lowered to D. Just give it a go.

I was listening to Drews Super Midget at Thursdays Sandberg bass clinic and it sounded great! First Barefaced cab I've ever heard, could be dangerous...

I switched to playing Short Scale around a year ago and have never looked back, these are my main basses. Both have great feel and sound, i have been playing for about 30 years and to be honest i don't think i'm missing anythin that a regular 34" scale bass can provide. I would suggest you go for it, i made the switch to playing only short scale around a year ago due to the early onset of arthritis in my thumb/wrist and have never looked back. I had been playing standard scale for 30ish years and since making the switch everything seems so much better, i haven't noticed any real issues with sound or feel and i'm sure most people don't even notice it's a short scale. Quality in short scale basses does vary so i would try a few different options first, i started with a Squier Jaguar SS to see if the short scale concept would work for me and once i was happy i upgraded to a Spector Shorty which is fantastic. Just play what feels right, there are plenty of options out there.

For sale is another of my wooden neck Status basses. Everything on it is working perfectly and it is fitted with Status Hot wire stings, a thumb rest was added before i bought it which to be honest i have found really useful. The bass has a few dings here and there but on the whole is in good condition. The bass has the Status Tri-max pickup in the stingray position, the controls are volume, bass, treble and an active/passive switch. It has a nice slim neck profile and is very easy to play, all in all a great bass.
