1. Eich's are a little heavier due to their magnetic fixing system for their cabs. Also, the 300W Eich model has a fan, whereas the Puma 300 doesn't. No idea why. Could be a different power section or simply that if thrashed they need it.

Lovely, and thank you. I'll have to see about getting a day off for a visit and bring my Helix down.
3. Selling my Darkglass Vintage Microtubes Deluxe. It's a US built one and I am the first owner. It has velco on the bottom. In good condition. Selling because my M900 amp can do the VMTD sound internally so I just don't need it anymore. £170 or near offer including signed for postage in the UK. Thanks.
4. Nothing like TI strings at all.
5. Played a gig at an engagement party for the brother of the drummer. Got drunk and snogged the intended bride on the dance floor. To be fair she instigated it but that was that.
6. I have a 300. It's my backup mainly, but also my lounge amp as it doesn't have a fan. I think the bigger ones do have fans. It's a great amp. Punchy and clear.

Alex Have you tried the FR800 with a modern modeller (Helix / Kemper / Fractal) for guitar use? I have no doubt it would be a great fit for bass, but having 1 rig is very appealing to me. Are they only built to order or do you have stock? I'm wondering if I should request a visit and bring my Helix down.
8. If it helps - now that it's got a bigger choice of compressors and drive pedals I haven't turned my regular board on. The only thing the Helix can't do very well at the moment is a synth sound like the BSW. Other than that, I don't need anything else. I have the full fat rack and floor controller, but I'm thinking of selling off my old pedal board and getting an LT as a back up / easy carry option.

I'm less worried about a volume control as I'm used to using rack pre and power amp rigs where I left the power amp at max most of the time. But it is still an odd thing to do as there are preamps out there where their volume controls are too damn sensitive for small adjustments.

It is mighty tempting. Is the FR800 passive cooled? Or is there an annoying fan in it? I couldn't see that info on the site.

The Helix can certainly do it. The unit has completely ended my amp and pedal GAS. Amazing bit of kit.
12. I remember when this came up last time. I have the 5 string version. If I had the money I'd be looking to complete the set.

It's more about whether the FR800 can get me a great just breaking up Fender Twin type sound as well as loads of bass.

Anyone tried the FR800 for guitar use? I have a Helix and I love it. At the moment I'm using a power amp and a regular guitar cab for guitar use, and 4CM with my DG M900 head and a pair of Retro One10 for bass use. I would like to reach the mythical position of having 1 rig for both instruments. I am currently investigating a variety of powered FRFR cabs - most of them being PA cabs as the powered guitar specific FRFR ones tend to be far lower in power and have a more limited freq range making them less suitable for bass use. The FR800 seems like it might do the trick, but I'd like to hear from someone who has tried it on guitar for a variety of sounds.
15. Is the body material harder to paint than wood? I wouldn't want to be trusting it to any old sod who hasn't done a resin body before.
16.
I had dxr12s but they didn't sound great for bass at all. We've got some rcf745s which do sound great with bass but they're the main pa cabs and as I don't own them outright I can't take them for dep gigs which is where I'd need backline.
did you use them with proper cab models or IRs ?
17. I'm about to order some Yamaha DXR10 cabs to go with my Helix. Mainly for guitar use but reports suggest they will be good on bass too. If so, I might have reached the legendary 1 rig for 2 purposes goal.
18. Crispin bought my Status fretless. Very easy deal, highly recommended. Good to meet you.
19.
Bass Direct have these in - just so you know. Cannot get over the price. Are these hand soldered analog pedals? Or are they digital?
All their products have gone up loads. Funnily enough since a particular event we're not allowed to talk about. Even the B3K is £200 now!!!
20. Marvel can set a worldwide release date for a film before filming has wrapped because they have the money to make it happen, even if they have to hire another 500 people to get it done. I don't know of any music company who could do that. I don't think it's a professionalism issue necessarily, I think it's a money issue.
21. Email the cab maker to see if they could estimate the force needed to damage it like that. It's good evidence. Might be able to prove the height it was dropped from
22. I usually find that when non-musical items arrive on time I haven't got time to use them that day anyway! Why new films are released on a Monday I will never know. I never have time to watch until the next weekend. Actually - I wonder if they do it on a Monday because new releases at the cinema are on a Friday and they don't want people opting to stay in. Mmmm...
23. I have never had a pre-ordered musical item arrive on time. Doesn't matter what brand or retailer. I think in a way we have been spoiled by Amazon DVD pre-orders and that sort of thing. I now just view a musical pre order to be nothing other than getting in the queue, and I'll simply order it from a shop I trust rather than the one that might have it a little earlier.
