1. I will helping Mark out on the Bass Direct Stand!!! It was fun (if slightly louddddddd) last year and the after show party was immense.
2. At the moment it's just my ABZ (which weights practically nothing but sounds huge, love it) and that seems to cope with a good variety of tones. I'm not one for having a bass for every situation and would rather let my fingers do the talking! It looks sh*t hot too ^_^
3. I remember once doing drop G? I think Meshuggah use it but my previous band was obsessed with. It was so retarded I eventually got them to change to a modest drop A. Which on a 5 string isn't so bad. Still sounded like cack!
4. I play in a Black Sabbath tribute and can whole heartedly say I fecking hate playing Paranoid. The most boring song IN THE WORLD. I absolutely love Sabbath and the rest of the set is a blast but I just hate that one.
5. I've forwarded this info onto my friend whose looking for 1x15 Trace cabs good luck mate
6. Hey guys, After a couple of fallen through deals (wifes etc etc) this cab is back on sale! Get a bloody bargain
7. All offers have been withdrawn so the bass is back on the market!
8. Right guys... After some advice from a close friend I am going to take it off eBay. Basically from this post onwards whoever contacts me PM or on this will get it. I didn't realise it would get this reaction so it has gone a bit mental above my head! So yeah...from this post, first person to offer asking price gets it.
9. Hey all - I have put the bass on eBay now (desperate to get rid) and that has got a bid already! (surprise as I have tried three times now)
10. Got interest who has said hes getting the dosh together in a couple of days so will let everyone know. I know its a stupid price but I have tried 500-600 and had no interest at all :-( I have got to raise 1800 by May hence getting rid asap.
11. Hi guys As part of my huge clearance of gear to fund my custom Dingwall I am looking to part ways with my Warwick Thumb (or possibly trade for a Fender P style bass - depends) I upgraded it with a Nordstrand pre-amp and I have the receipt for that and still have the original pre-amp knocking about too. The bass came with the Barts already installed. These upgrades give it a massive boost in my opinion and it has one of the most tightest/focused mid/low end I've ever heard! Very funky ^ ^ I've lowered the price from my past couple of posts down from £650 to £550 as I desperately need to get rid of it before May. I am happy to meet halfway or for people to come over and try it out - I am in Eastwood just outside of Nottingham and about 5mins from J26 of the M1. Cheers Dan
12. Hi all, Desperately need to get rid of surplus gear and I am afraid it is time for the MarkBass Classic 610 to go! It cost me £1100 new a few years ago and I gigged it for about 2 years. It has the usual scuffs and marks but nothing that deters the sound. It looks brilliant on stage (much better looking than my current cabs, EBS, IMO) and is very light for a 610. Specs can be found here: http://www.markbass....etail.php?id=84 Reason for selling - bought a custom Dingwall and need to get funds for May/June time! I am looking for £400 (insanely cheap I know) and will meet half way or try and get it posted via courier at buyers expense.
13. I just replied to her asking for the bass pad asap if possible ha! If I can get it then I have a month and half to go over it which should be plenty of time Argh, quite nervous!
14. Hi guys Just been offered the bass chair for a local production of Hairspray... Now - this is literally just happened so not sure what the deal is with the score and has anyone played it before on here? I can read to a fairly decent level but not sure I can have one stab at it and get it right on the night so to speak. I can read walking jazz quickly but not sure how I would cope with the structure of a musical... Any help would be wonderful as this could be my first paying reading gig!
15. Question is: Do I really need to upgrade my 12.0 to a 12.2 for the sake of a couple of upgrades? Are the upgrades really worth it as IMO I haven't heard a better amp live yet that's so versatile and light. I think I shall stick to my 12.0 (and save pennies!)
16. Damn you Si!!! I got an ABZ in like a sunburst but goes dark towards the edges. Can't remember the title. Amberburst I think? Love it so much
17. I am getting my custom Dingwall in May so that's about all I have planned... For the first time in my gigging life I am 100% happy with my rig(s). Genz Benz 12.0 w/ EBS 4x10 (and 2x12 for bigger gigs) Genz Benz 3.0 w/ 2 x 110 Genz Speakers. Both rigs sound éffin great and had compliments from other players and even the crowd!! Saying that...those Genz 4x10 cabs look nice STOP!
18. Only Dan's are allowed. Sorry Mark That is slightly weird/bizarre. Small world eh ;-)
19. Hey guys, After owning two awesome Dingwalls I decided to have something a bit special and what I could call my own (even though Mark from Bass Direct liked my build so much he ordered one the same for the shop, the git!). Not got any pics yet but I will pester Sheldon to try and get some if they aren't too busy. Specs (nothing crazy but just what I wanted) Afterburner I shape in TransBlack (looks FAB and suites any style of music, I play in metal/indie/pop bands so) 5 String Alder body with 5A Flamed Maple top (absolutely love FM) Maple Neck - gone for maple through out as I like the zingyness of it. I also prefer the look of maple contrasting to a dark body. Hmm hmm. Glockenklang pre amp and custom Dingwall P-Up - tried this set up at Marks on a similar Afterburner. Again it sounded fantastic and had a variety of tones that I need. So quite similar to a standard Afterburner I minus the upgraded top and pre-amp but it is the combo I wanted and can't wait to recieve it! May can't come quick enough
20. A brilliant ending to what could have been a horrible story. It's a lesson to us all that we really need to keep photos/details/numbers on ALL of our equipment. I for one will be doing this ASAP. On a side note: stupid effin' inbreds!!!!
21. I'm from Nottingham but...could make a weekend of it with my girlfriend down Stratford. I've played Cox's before and it's a mint pub and I help Mark out at the Bass shows so would be nice to see him too. I could bring stuff in my sig.
22. Bidd - Music venues you have the big ones; Rock City / Rescue Rooms for the bigger bands and upcoming bands. The Maze is a fairly decent small venue and it has a massive variety of bands playing. Great front bar too with loads of real ales. Bell Inn is great for jazz and cover bands, mostly blues. Running Horse is another great blues / rock venue and very intimate. Old Angel is mostly metal/hardcore/punk but I hate it and the "clique" feel does my head in. There are LOADS of small cafe type acoustic venues too but I am unsure of them. Also loads of venues within the surrounding few miles. There is one right in Carrington where you are moving too called The Hubb (well it was before it shut down, not sure of the name now)
23. For the first time in my life... 100% happy with the two rigs I have and really wouldn't have anything else (unless money was no object and I'd just have even more EBS cabs / Genz heads!!!!)
