1. Just a quick "review" , I'd highly recommend anyone who can go to a UK gig to just go. I was not particularly fan of all the music but the musicianship displayed and showed is of a stupid high level. Pino and Chris Dave as a rythm section are animals without a doubt. Pino plays his signature P + a P with something that could be T-bird pickups. And..... he slaps and what looks like double thumping... so yeah he can do it. Despite his past drugs / alcohol Problem D'angelo is still a hell of a singer. so yeah people.... go! me
2. Did only that for 2 and a half years.... i'd not worry too much, at least your reading has to be a bit sorted out... if its not as good as it can be , i promise you it'll be much better when you finish lol..... i was playing jazz for lunch (even if i'm nowhere close to a jazzer) and groove soul music at night... have fun
3. Bought Rainer's 66 P. He's still one of the best seller on here without a single possible doubt. A +++++++++
4. marcus will sound like marcus what ever he plays
5. While i don't fully agree with it I would say that there is for sure an "industry standard" for basses. I have been asked many times to "bring a fender P man! i need that! nothing else!", yes I agree there's countless other basses that play nicer and often actually kind of sound better. I guess that Fender set a standard and a sound that people are used to. I do tend to think that people asking to "bring a P!" are just often lazy , because it'll sound good as is, they won't need to do anything to it. On the other hand in the real world , time is money...and i'm not sure some one would get a call back if the engineer spent big extra time eq and adding stuff to it to get it right while it could have been done in 1 second with a Fender.
6. Nothing to do in Denmark street .... boring useless shops with bad service for most of them (wunjo people are nice but have the same boring stuff) go to the gallery! best shop in london by very far... and by very very very far best luthiers / tech people. I've changed country 3 times since then, could not find some one i'd trust equally as martin P
7. He's obviously been online.... :-O
8. Hi Rainer, you've got a PM
9. Great transaction , paid when he said he would. Hassle free ! Cheers
10. Even if the building does look ok I don't understand the part where a custom builder goes his own route and puts unrequested things into a build. Not sure what went on with letts , I was in contact with him and chose to pull out when reading quite a few bad stories from his customers.
11. this bass is now 100% GONE , no need to ask for it later
12. yes you do... you don't wanna be the one stuck on stage with a broken strings / none working bass.... end up being "that guy" and its basically the end
13. Guys, selling this JV squire , it does what a jazz does .... You probably know what you are looking at. The price is £670 shipped to you in a hardcase. I do need a payment in EUROS only , which is 850 euros. I am willing to deduct £25 for any UK buyer in order to cover the conversion fees. You can see my feedback in my signature. bass will be supplied with strings of course lol.... no offers at all , as this is a fair deal .... no trades at all .... bass shipped where ever...... if UPS goes there i can probably send it to you thanks
14. Depends on pay , cash pay thing could mean that its all "undercover" but if gigs are official and paid with invoice and the whole thing. I seriously suspect you will need a working visa. Played some invoiced gigs there last year and as far as i know we had work visa which cost. You don't wanna get into trouble with the US admin in case they discover you are working , selling merch' and the whole thing and you only have a tourist visa. You are likely to get into very serious trouble and on the first plane out of the USA.
15.
Not too sure of that. You see any number of huge gigs where there is a monitor feeding lyrics etc to band members - mainly the singer but technology like that is present everywhere. You may not see it but it's often there. Nathan East plummeted in my estimation when I saw him reading a 12 bar.
Of course I fully agree , its often there... I meant bands clearly reading charts , with a random music stand set on stage and clearly obvious to every one else.. now that's highly unprofessional and doesn't look good at all. Unless its a reading gig of course.... that's another debate...
16. Unless being called 3 hours ahead as a very last minute depping. Music stands on stage Make the difference between pro and amateur bands. What would you say if you were at a theater play with some one going "hmmmmm" and looking at his paper to make sure he says the right words.
17. Stil the best basses and builders around ..... top guys, top basses.... ;-)
18. probably one of the best seller on here btw ....
19. ah dude.... wow... another stunner......
