  1. Gino Vannelli album title track Brother to Brother featuring Jimmy Haslip on bass. Love the bass tone and the technique is phenomenal on this one. The musicianship throughout this particular album is 2nd to none. More recent bassist Sandin Wilson who also plays 6 string bass these days does a fantastic version of this song too.
  2. Much the same here. No rehearsals since 24th June until 29th July due to other commitments but we decided to learn 4 or 5 new songs. Start up band so still putting set together. Dave
  3. Curious as to what is in your rack and what the bottom cab is. Guessing an Ampeg cab of some kind ? Dave
  4. Have to say i've had or seen a few unpleasant comments or exchanges on BC, but over the past couple of years its been far better and i think the Moderators have kept a far tighter control of things. The end up of that is a much more tolerant and approachable forum. Can't say i've seen anything at all in recent years. Its interesting, informative and supportive in many areas of life, not just bass related so all in all VERY WELL DONE. Dave
  5. So you like Vigier basses then
  6. From what i can find on Wiki Antoria was originally produced by German company Framus and later in 70's started to import guitars from Japan which were produced in same factory as Ibanez. In 80's the brand was purchased by John Lawson altho i'm not sure where they were based in 80's from then but in 2010 they were owned by Tim Gentle Music of Stockton on Tees and that's maybe why you assume they were always a UK company That's why i assumed it was a Japanese bass as i had seen them when they first appeared on the scene in late 70's. There were a number of Japanese companies producing some great Fender copies back in the late 70's / early 80's incl Tokai and Squier Dave
  7. TBH when you mentioned Burns Bison i thought it was one too so you're not the only one that was fooled by it. Nice bass tho. Dave
  8. I remember the Antoria basses now that you mention it and from memory they were regarded as one of the better of the "Jap" manufacturers at the time. Really nice basses and well made. Nice to see one again. Its a keeper so don't sell it. Dave
  9. Need to stop following this thread. I'm starting to realize i'm getting a severe bout of GAS.
  10. Nice. Liking that shape. How does it feel to play. Same as a Fender J or is there much of a difference.
  11. Bet that sounds nice. Love those Vigier basses and the Darkglass amp sounds nice. Not heard it thru a Darkglass cab live tho
  12. Like those Status basses. Very nice.
  13. Cheers and not a bad wee set up for your bass cave. Like you i gave up moving South on a "maybe" chance in a rock band in 80's because i had a well paid enjoyable (at that time) job and wouldn't give up for a slight chnace of a deal which all fell thru so it was the right decision for me too And again like you i can now enjoy bass mch more than ever before. Dave
  14. What you got sitting under the red speaker. Looks like 2 of them. Just curious. Dave
  15. Thrash metal of course.
  16. Afraid mine's changes depending on gig. Bass, bass-rig and pedals / mfx or straight bass to amp. I thought i had posted a pic before on something similar on BC. This is best i could find tho from my bass cave and more or less what i'm currently using. Fender Precision deluxe PJ into a GK1001RBii head into Bergantino HT322 cab. Korg tuner in rack mount. NB the Harley Davidson lamp doesn't go to the gigs either.
  17. Really liking that one. Have seen them several times and thought mmmmmm !!!!!!!. Enjoy and have fun.
  18. Depends on the band really. Current band is only a 4 piece singer, guitar, bass and drums and we won't rehearse if someone can't make it. Last band i was in was a 6 piece band and we would still rehearse if someone couldn't make it. There were a lot of harmony vocals that they would work on or twin guitars we would work on their parts or simply try a few suggested song and run thru them to see how they sounded before adding to set list. For this particular band yes it works ok. Would have to say that most bands i've been in would normally cancel as it was usually quite rare. My current band is made up of guys that already play in reasonably successful bands and this was a side project so there are gaps in rehearsals however we just learn new songs at home and all being pretty competent musicians it works out well. Dave
  19. TC gear is first class. I have a few of their pedals too and they just do what they say they will. You won't be disappointed i'm sure. Dave
  20. I have the Korg rack version of the Pitch black and its great but i also have the TC Polytune for occasions i don't have my rack. Polytune is very versatile and also has a power out socket to link to another pedal when using the power input. Its very accurate and is a good size, easy to pack. Runs on 9V power or 9V battery. Easy access to change battery too. Think you've made a good choice. Dave
  21. You don't know what you're missing. Take some lessons. Go on you know you wanna. Dave
  22. Tony Joe White is an amazing musician, song-writer. Loved Rainy Night In Georgia especially the live duet version he did with Joe Cocker. So much so i had to post So many great songs from him and what a voice he had. Mr Cool
  23. So you did it then Dave
  24. Did anyone in the audience notice
