1. The biggest problem I've found using a 210 on it's own is that you need to find a way of lifting it so that the sound doesn't just wash around peoples ankles. I use a stand and turn my 210 vertically if I want to travel light.
 2.
Unfortunately the Eko is notorious for not being amenable to the low-tech option as it has a sort of oval sound hole
Ah of course. Lutehole can make customised ones and have a UK dealer who will act as an intermediary. Check out http://www.madisonandfifth.co.uk/lutehole.index.htm
 3. There's a lo tech version available. It's a disc that clips into the soundhole to effectively cap it off. It's not perfect but it's an improvement and I think I only paid about £10 for mine.
 4. Well I'm going to be dead boring and say put it away. These are uncertain times we are living in and you never know what's coming round the corner...
 5.
It's much easier for us up in Staffordshire Wayne, We all just give the reading gigs to Doddy
Speaking as an ex pat from the South, they haven't got the hang of joinedy up handwriting in most parts of Staffordshire...
 6.
1"! I may have just found why you don't get on with a pick!
... and probably why most of the mobiles I've ever owned get string scrapes on them...
 7.
What have I done now? Mustering all my remaining brain cells, I'm going to guess it's something to do with the prog medley...
Don't worry, it's nothing you've done mate. It's just something that always happens when someone mentions 'japanese' and 'obscure' in the same sentence. If you'd mentioned 'cross dressing' at the same time you'd already understand my reaction...
 8.
im getting the feel that mr Castle is a pro....
Nah. I have enough trouble working out what I've done with my mobile phone, so the chances of me keeping track of the whereabouts of a 1" sliver of plastic are nil...
 9. I will personally hunt down and sing sea shanties at the first person who puts THAT video up again...
 10.
no need for a sharper sound?..
Nope. I keep my nails trimmed down to about 3mm and just adjust the angle and force I hit the string at - means I can move from a nice mellow sound to a real clank without doing a pedal dance.
 11.
Actually with all that gaffa tape on his thumb you could say Mark King is mostly playing with a pick
I had to read that twice... In 30 years of playing bass I've never found a use for a plectrum, I just adapt my finger style to suit whatever I'm playing.
 12. There should be a small 'woosh' any second now and ShergoldSnickers will appear... In the meantime... Shergold really kicked off in the mid 70's and was run by a couple of ex Burns employees (I seem to recall that Mike Rutherfords twin neck was a Shergold, but I could be wrong). I remember them closing down in the early 80's as a shop I used to work in bought up about 10 of them. They reappeared in the early 90's for a couple of years before closing down again. I'm pretty certain that both of the original founders have passed away now, so chances are that if we ever see Shergold guitars appear again, it'll just be a brand name on a mass produced instrument that won't be to the same quality.
 13.
really?
I might have meant incoherantly...
 14.
Have any of you gents experienced big changes in what you think sounds good? Or do you still want the same sound as you did when you first picked up a bass? Or do you do the sensible thing and switch basses depending on what you're playing?
Despite common opinion, I'm inherantly sensible... I switch instruments to get the best out of what I'm playing at the time.
 15.
This has to go in the classic quotes thread surely?
I reckon so too, but I'm not sure there's that much of a difference...
 16. If fretless bass is outlawed does that mean we have to run around the forest wearing green tights and lurk around bushes preparing to jump out on unwitting dog walkers before subjecting them to arpeggios?
 17. "I recognize that I am pretty much alone in my point of view about [s]fretless[/s] Jaco..." ...but I've never had the patience to listen to him for longer than about 30 seconds so wouldn't know how to replicate his sound if I even wanted to.
 18.
Guaranteed to get the discussion heated in seconds: Err... Discuss, I reckon...
You bugger I personally reckon he's way off target here by singling out fretless bass as a one trick pony. Certain playing techniques have become the 'norm' as instruments perform best like that - try hitting a saxophone with a drumstick and see what ya get...
 19. What a cool workaround and only a quid!
 20. Sounds as though Ashdown didn't think that part of the design through. I'd drop them a line and tell them about it - hopefully feedback like yours will help them decide to choose a different connector for future models. As for securing the current connectors, silicon probably isn't suitable as it becomes soft at temperature. Perhaps a little blob of clear nail varnish would work better - once it's dried it stays solid at a much higher temperature.
 21. Well done mate New meds are getting smarter and smarter all the time, but I'm afraid that GAS is terminal...
 22. 32 years now - jeez that's scary! High points - Hearing a band playing a cover of something I worked on originally. Playing at Cambridge Folk Festival and being asked to dep for another band appearing there with only an hours notice. Low points - Drummer commited suicide. A girlfriend who was happy to spend the money I earned but hated the musical scene.
 23. If you have no joy cleaning the pot then Peavey have a UK service centre that should be able to identify and provide a replacement part, I've used them before and they're dead helpfull. 24.
The op asked for a Jazz Bass standard wiring, not a P Bass, Click here
Yes. Unfortunately that was not clear when I started writing my post - which is the reason why I added this to the end of the post after I hit send...
EDIT: Having said that, if this is a jazz bass that has had it's electrics 'customised' in the way you describe, then you might be better off just following the Standard Jazz Bass wiring diagram.
25. Take a look at this. Ignore the fact that there are two pickups on the diagram - you just need the two wires coming from the pickups labelled 'black' and 'white' - those are the equivalent wires to the ones on your pickup. HTH EDIT: Having said that, if this is a jazz bass that has had it's electrics 'customised' in the way you describe, then you might be better off just following the Standard Jazz Bass wiring diagram.
