Carefully whip off the top cover and with a fine paint brush and a Hoover nozzle at the ready brush out all the dust and crap that had been sucked in. Obviously unplug it first.
+1 It never ceases to amaze me how much crud accumulates around fans in music and IT gear.
 2.
and now it seems we are no longer safe from judgement in our own bedrooms!
3.
thats a good point..im thinking they dont need a truss rod though..?
It'll still have a truss rod - it's still going to have a tendency to bow up to the 12th fret...
 4. There are a limited number of radically different shapes that you can actually use to make a bass guitar and I'm guessing the single cutaway started off as an attempt to make a new shape. The only potential advantage I can see is that the neck is supported from about the 12th fret upwards so it may have a slightly more stable neck.
 5. Don't know how other people find them, but I find that satin finish necks generally end up shiney within a couple or three months of use anyway...
 6.
Win win as she is beautiful, understanding and intelligent and standing behind me!
Fixed that for you...
 7.
Fixed!
Just don't ask about the 5'8" long bulge in the patio...
 8.
Please someone, shatter my illusions here, and tell me that Wombles are real creatures!
Course they are! Bernard Cribbens is, in actual fact, Tobermory dressed up in a human suit...
 9.
2/ is there a 'standard' size of bolt to fix LF driver into chassis? The recieving nuts are already there, and they LOOK like they're M5, but I don't want to bugger the nuts up...
I'm guessing they're using T Nuts. Unfortunately they come in M4, M5, M6 and M8 sizes. Easiest way to find out would be to find an M5 bolt and try it, you should be able to screw the bolt into the rear of the T Nut using just your fingers (therefore avoiding any possibility of damage to the thread).
 10.
In my last band, I used to wear spandex leggings, a leather biker jacket (bare chested) wig, mirrored shades, a German airforce officers hat and a leather codpiece! How I wished I'd only had to wear a furry suit!
And what about when you were playing..?
 11. Yep. That was my first wife. One of the many things I resolved by getting shot of her...
 12. Well if I didn't do it someone else would have done...
 13.
I found this link on talkbass, might be useful?
Yep that's spot on.
 14.
I think the appropriate time for slagging the Wombles was probably about thirty-odd years ago. Of all the bands in the world, what benefit, satisfaction or kudos anybody thinks they might get out of 'hating' the Wombles is entirely beyond me.
...plus the fact that they had a recycling policy long before the local councils pretended to have one...
 15.
i've obviously entered the dark side of BC here and i think i need to get out sharpish,
I don't know what you mean... Just remember member member member member....
 16. Just look up Mike Batt on Wikipedia and look at the list of people he's worked with over a period of decades. No matter what your opinion of The Wombles, this guy has a seriously impressive track record. They always sounded like a cross between Steeleye and ELO to me and I now have a strange remix of The Diary of Horace Whimp, All Around My Hat and Wombling Free going on in my head...
 17.
so if the socket is wired up incorrectly, could this cause the problem described. sounds similar to a dirty pot, but i've never heard a dirty pot sound this extreme!
Yes. If someone has connected the socket incorrectly so that the +ve side of the battery is being switched instead of the -ve side then you can feed 9V straight into the pot. That's a sure fire way of burning the track of the pot out as the wiper moves over it and the 'pitting' will give a dirty pot sort of noise you describe. You need to be a bit careful with this information though - it's a possibility, not a diagnosis.
 18. Hard to say what the problem is without seeing the wiring they have done for you. Either way, the number one rule after 'repairing' anything should always be to test what you've just done to ensure you've rectified the fault and not generated a new one in the process. This would appear not to have happened in your case. Give them the opportunity of putting the defect right to your satisfaction and test it out thoroughly before leaving the premises this time. If they fail to repair the fault then you should demand your money back and go elsewhere.
 19. I've never been particularly fond of that sort of thing. Good at what he does perhaps, but it doesn't 'do it' for me.
 20.
Wow that ones got enough to suck the valves out and pebbledash the wall with them! I was thinking more along the lines of this.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/19-rack-mount-coolin...=item45fb3406c2 tho i,m using only one fan in the centre for mine that twin one will keep the amp happy in even the hottest club.
That looks just the ticket.
 21.
Like this ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/proliant-dl380-serve...1#ht_5181wt_973
That sort of thing but not that one. That one's designed to fit onto the subrails of a 10000 series HP rack and not into the cage nut holes that you'll (hopefully) have on the rear of a rack case.
 22.
Also, the dealer would have to buy the parts so maybe ask them.
It's not up to me to sort out business deals with your dealer network to improve the poor perception that some people have with various parts of your service offering. It was simply a suggestion given with good intentions.
 23.
Also, in the UK we have a guy you can buy from now anyway. Bass Direct as well as String Busters.
Have you considered shipping them a box of the most requested spare parts along with their next shipment of straps? It'd save you a lot of messing about for a $15 part...
 24.
I have an amp which needs a power supply (12v 2amp but with a negative ground) what do they mean by negative ground? is it referring to which way the polarity is set to the tip?
Yep that's right. What they're saying in a roundabout sort of way is that it's a positive tip.
 25. Well at least it makes a change from Kings of Leon...
