3.
Alex James? /runs before the lynching team arrives and my head rolls
plus the one...he's a fantastic bass player, and i'll agree about the bloke from the killers as well.

 9.
Who else would have bought this?
me !!!!
 10. a cheap and cheerful fretless is exactly what i've got...i'm sure it's not a fantastic-sounding fretless, but it does the job when i fancy pretending i'm a real bass player !!! but you should think about the project side i think...always nice to play an instrument you've had a hand in creating
 11. my 86 japanese fender jazz (sd pickups, wilkinson bridge), with week-old strings sounds just like a bass should to me.
 12.
Hi ahpook, I bought the pre off Dood and he had replaced the tubes with the Harma's. The pre was very quiet when I used it with the Crown amp and it's a little noisier with the IP310 cab I'm using now. I definitely think that the SVP is more suited to certain combinations and it's a sensitive piece of gear but it sounds great. It would be great to have all the best valves to hand to try to see which best suited our set ups but the best we can hope for are well informed tests, otherwise, it would cost a fortune. Steve.
thanks steve (and everyone else !!) i think you've decided for me harma's it is !!!
 13. i think i'm going to treat my ampeg to a new set of valves. i've really no idea what to go for...the pre uses 4 12ax7s and a 12au7... i'd like to reduce the noise the preamp puts out a bit if possible. any ideas ?
 14.
I saw someone with a Hiwatt 400 valve head at a show once, which had 4 inputs. He had a short patch lead connecting two of these. Just wondering what this was in aid of? Sorry if it is painfully obvious, I was just intrigued
i think on some valve amps with two inputs you can cascade them to get more overdrive.
 15.
My '75 Precision. first decent bass I ever had, mine from new...
my first decent bass was a late 70's precision. i sold it and bought a westone...which i also miss
 16.
Only tried the reds. You are probaly better off with fuse-wire!
ahhh well, i ordered a set of reds to try them out.
 17.
I've agreed a price on the one attached - may be the one on Loot but I can't see that link now. Seemed like a bit of a steal at just under £250 so agreed a deal quite quickly. Just fancied something to noodle around on at home
that's lovely fantastic price too...
 18. i think the soundtech has 40mm fans..it's only 1U high. checking around it looks lke there's plenty of choice...i just need to check the exact dimensions of te fans
 19. well i had a look inside the soundtech - they're unbranded fans with no spec on them except the supply voltage and current. but they do use plug-in cinnectors on the circuit board, so i i do decide to replace them it should be easy to swap them over. just need to guesstimate a fan rating.
 20.
I didn't notice there way a fan noise on my amp till right now. But the Trace I have is extremely quiet, which next to my PC or 360 is barely noticeable as the other two are very very loud.
hmm....my trace's fan is very loud...much louder than my pc.. i might pull the sountech out tonight and see what the rating of the fans is...then check out the alternatives. and i'm sure you're right cheddatom, the fan's don't need to be on for home volumes...
 21.
Nice looking bass, been oggling rics/ricalikes myself lately. Is it me or do those pups look huge?
nope, they are indeed huge ! actually you might be hard-pressed to use the top of the pickup as anchor..
 22.
And graphite
good point
 23. agreed, apart from the usual 'bent bit of tin' bridge.
