1. Brief guide (because I'm at work) Sshhhhhh.... Go to 'Your profile' at the top of the screen Click on 'my profile' Click on 'change' in the grey picture box Then you should get the option to either add a picture from your hard drive, or one from an image hosting website (eg photobucket) I've managed to do it, - so it shouldn't be too difficult!
 2. Yeah, another +1 for Ambients comment. Although some people will tell you that they found making the adjustment to a 5-string pretty easy, it does require quite a bit of getting used to, from my experience. If you're used to playing a 4 string, and try to play stuff the same way, the B string will tend to get in the way. However, if you 'embrace' the B-string, and try to incorporate it into your playing, you'll find it much easier. You might find that you need to pay a little more attention to string muting on a 5'er too. Good luck if you decide to make the jump! @rk7 have you tried compatibility mode? next to the address bar at the top of your browser window. It fixed the problem for me when I couldn't quote.
 3. Dave, very interested in your cab, please get in touch. Cheers, Gary.
 4. +1 to everything above! From my (reasonably extensive) experience of ebay, the quality of the ad reflects the quality of the seller, - every time. It should be detailed, with plenty of photos of the actual item for sale. Image you were selling something, what sort of ad would you write? If it's not to that same standard, - don't even consider buying it. karlfer's right, they'll be something come up for sale on here soon, for sure. You just gotta be patient
 5.
What match..?
On the TV, in the picture. Have a football related bump on me
 6.
So I'm in a BASS CRISIS. Anyone had a similar crisis? and how do I get through it? or will this always happen to me and I am doomed to GAS, and buy basses on the forums forever?
Yep. This is how it starts, - slowly at first, a new addition here & there; then one day you wake up and discover you can't move for all the bass related stuff you've bought!
 7. Well, this post has me (and many others too, it would seem) somewhat vexed! But as it seems that you are not entirely happy with either the condition of the bass, or the pickup configuration; as has been said already, I would send it back! If I had spent nearly £3500 on a bass, and felt the same way you appear to, I would not accept either of these issues, - let alone both!
 8.
I popped to the DIY shop down the road and grabbed a set of imperial and metric keys in the end - it cost about a tenner. Slight overkill given I only needed the one key, but I'm sure I'll find a use for them.
You are now free to buy more basses in the future now; - confident in the knowledge that you already have the correct hex key to adjust the truss rod!
 9.
If you're thinking of spending Dingwall money, Bass Direct really is worth a visit.
Muzz is absolutely right! It's not the sort of thing you do every day, so well worth making a 'special trip' But don't worry about the fanned frets, they're so easy to get used to. If I can play one; - anyone can! Bass Direct have 3 secondhand basses in stock today, so if you bought s/h, - and didn't like it, you could always sell on at a minimal loss. You're more than welcome to try mine Cam, but I'm down on the south coast of England! - Sorry. Just buy one! You won't regret it!
 10.
BPM of track 104, I can do 65 and am moving up to 85! Slowly but surely for this brilliant yet killer bassline!!
Well, that's the right approach, learn it at a slower tempo first, then build it up over time. I'm sure you'll have it nailed sooner than you think I find it easier on a 5 string (if you have one), less movement of the left-hand. Not that I'm anywhere near being able to play it though, mind you.
 11.
My personal opinion is number 1, I think he will get stronger with practise and has the drive and personality that will help drive the band forward,
That's exactly what I'd say. Another vote for #1.
 12.
As soon as there is something half decent to read and hear, I'll post a link to my sig.
We'll look forward to that. Chuffed for you, from England.
 13. Whoosh....straight over my head!
 14. I'm afraid I can't offer any specific help here, - as my slides suck too! However, as with most other things, it probably involes a fair amount of practice time. It's easy to think, as a reasonably acomplished player, (I barely qualify, by the way!), that we can introduce various new, or at least unfamiliar techniques, fairly easily. Doesn't seem to work that way, in my experience. Perhaps design a few exercises to do, and practice them regularly. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon enough Probably a good idea to relax too, don't keep the wrist too stiff (locked); and don't apply too much pressure with the fretting hand when sliding either. Good luck! When you sus it, - let me know!!
 15.
I think I'm developing Chapman Stick GAS!
Yeah, me too. Damn you Ray! Look what you've gone n' done!!
 16.
Would be VERY interested to see what would replace your Lee Sklar signature, you lucky thing!
Nothing, I would imagine. The repayments on the loan should take care of G.A.S. in the short to medium term, but there's always something!... Hmmmmm........a Dingwall Super J perhaps??....
 17.
I've just bought one here without ever trying fanned frets previously.
Spacecowboys Combustion II I believe? You won't regret it!
 18.
I gave in last week... Dingwall style.... I hope my G.A.S. never returns!
I gave in too, just before Christmas...Dingwall style, too.... G.A.S. free so far. Not expecting it to stay that way though, if I'm honest.
 19.
Thanks all for the info. I didnt do a major amount of "damage" with the 120, I rubbed it up and down neck and noticed it was scratching as opposed to smoothing, so I stopped immediately. Having wiped off the 'dust' I cant really feel the scratches but can see it lightly in the places where it abrased (I suppose its no worse than the general marks on the back of the neck that were done by previous owner just through wear and tear). Think I originally panicked a bit! If I was to jump to a higher grit, say 600 as noted above for a smooth matte finish, would this smooth off the neck still in spite of the light scratches?
Glad to hear that the damage is probably not as bad as your originally thought. I think if you rub it lightly with 600 grade, then 800 through 1000 to 1200, and then finally 0000 grade steel wool, you should get a nice finish eventually. Remember to take your time, and rub lightly, don't be in a hurry and try to fix it too quickly. A little bit of patience now will pay dividends. Good luck!
 20. Sellers responsibility, - no doubt. Grangur's right, If they won't take responsibility, don't buy from them!
 21.
Oh my, so lucky I have no cash, otherwise I'd jump on this one! Good luck with the sale!

Surely it's luckier to have cash?
Yes it is. But I think the poster means he would buy it, and then maybe have too many basses, incur the wrath of his missus, or a thousand other reasons why it might not have been the best thing to have spent the money on! Great way to spend £850 IMHO.
