  1. Yep. Long covid has put paid to most of my extra curricular activities; can’t stand or walk for long, do what gigging I do is now sat down. My brain fog and fatigue means that I can’t drive or remember lots of different songs and set lists like I used to. It sucks but I know folks who’ve had it worse. Try to focus on the positives. learn a new instrument or 2, broaden your musical tastes or start to transcribe different stuff than you’re used to hearing. one thing I’ve learned through all of this is that everybody can find something that they enjoy. keep your chin up dude.
  2. I use a Butler tube overdrive in addition to a boss OC2 and aEHX Small Clone when zI need a bit of drive, but a Lovetone Meatball clone after the oc2 gives a lovely Stevie Wonder style analogue synth- works great with glissandos.
  3. I think (for me) Slayer’s Decade of Aggression just about eclipses the studio recordings too.
  4. Hooray for secondary dominant chords! 👌🏻
  5. Yes, I thought that as I was typing, but these are released as 'Live' albums, not the standard 'record everything and replace lots of it when we get home' Zappa approach.
  6. Should really be renamed "Overdubbed & Marginally Perilous" as only a small proportion of that admittedly brilliant album is actually live.
  7. LOTS of Zappa albums - personal favourites include "Broadway the Hardway", "Does Humour Belong In Music" & "Roxy & Elsewhere". Also, "Pulse" is pretty much the only Pink Floyd I can stand to listen to. I have to admit that. as big of a Rush fan as I am, I prefer the Live versions on "A Show Of Hands" to most of the albums that preceded those tours (Signals, Grace Under Pressure, Hold Your Fire).
  8. Iron Maiden’s Live After Death is easily better than most of the studio albums leading up to it. YMMV.
  9. If they ARE then he won't be hearing it for long!
  10. Dep gig for a 50th do at a (fairly) local rugby club. Loud but not as lively as I would have expected. Good giggle with a good bunch of lads who have fun when they play.
  11. What an amazingly kind thing, I just wish I was closer!!
  12. I've always had a soft spot for the Black Crowes version of "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35". Let's face it, if anyone could deliver the lyric "everybody must get stoned" then it's those chaps. https://youtu.be/2FTCSie0Z6g
  13. As above. I’d start with the checking and possibly replacing the electrolytic caps, they have a short shelf life (about a decade!) compared to most other components .
  14. Saturday Night by Whigfield is a firm favourite of mine.
  15. 29 Palms - Robert Plant
  16. Oscillate Wildly - Die Schmitts
  17. Disco Boy - FZ
  18. Daddy Brother Lover Little Boy - Mr Big
  19. Time Bomb - Rancid
  20. WAAAAYYYY ahead of you there!
  21. Oc2 ->coloursound bass fuzz -> Lovetone meatball -> Butler tube drive -> EHX Small clone and Small stone. That’s pretty much my current ‘meat and potatoes’ layout., but currently it’s got a couple of other bits thrown in just for fun. Being able to build effects pedals has its advantages!
  22. Room a thousand years wide - Soundgarden
  23. Based on those numbers, yes. 😄
  24. Better by you, better than me - Judas Priest
