1. They go for £300 - £400 mark - as you point out they aren't as sought after despite being of a similar quality and as playable as any JV. Collectors prefer the JVs as they were based on the original Fender vintage blueprints, the SQs are more of a 'mash up' of models e.g. 70's style tuners, solid barrel saddles, skunk stripe, etc. I'd keep it I'm sure it's value as an instrument outweighs its monetary worth.
2. Looks like a hybrid of US 70's and 90's MIM. The silver decal could also suggest 80's US as there was a period where the truss rod access was up top. Hmmm.....interesting.
3. I picked this up last week in a private sale. It's all original with the exception of an extra Dimarzio Jazz pickup and the pots and switch for this. It needed some work to clean it as it looked like it had been kept in a shed for a few years or the ubiquitous 'uncle's loft'! The original case was included too - but this smells a bit like its got damp and dried out - any tips on how to get rid of that smell by the way? The neck is beautiful and neck joint & bridge alignment is good. It is pretty heavy compared to my '74 Precision. I'm pleased with it though and plan to set it up properly with flats. Anybody else got a maple neck fretless?

eBay fees
You're lucky it was only 7 days, they had £400 of my cash for almost two months. They then tried to deduct it again (in error, which at least they admitted). If you have a Paypal account, do NOT connect it to a bank account with anything more than a few quid in it
Yes they just did a similar thing with me - I bought a bass, the seller decided they didn't want to sell it because of the extortionate fees and refunded me, Paypal put my account on hold 'pending investigation' - they have become so paranoid - I suspect they thought I was going outside of eBay when in actual fact it was a legitimate issue with the seller. I only just got my money back but it was refunded to my PayPal account rather than the bank account it came from.
6. Rutherford is a great player and one of the most famous users of Shergold basses - including a double neck Modulator 6 and 4 and a Marathon 6 - I love the way his bass lines punctuate the sound and toughen it up. Lovely stuff!
7. They've changed the way private sellers pay fees again folks and guess who loses out - 05 August, 2013 | 11:54AM BST Hello, From 4 September, final value fees for all private sellers will change, as well as insertion fees for private sellers with a Basic Shop on eBay.co.uk Final value fees change for all private sellers Final value fees will be charged based on the combined value of the item listed plus postage. For example, if an item sells for £20 with postage cost of £4, the final value fee will be charged based on the combined value of £24. This will not apply if the listing offers collection only. 19. No worries - if I can raise the cash by selling my overwater I'll be all over this!
20. There's a Renaissance Live at Carnegie Hall cd with a long track on called 'Ashes Are Burning' featuring a Jon Camp bass solo. I remember preferring that to Squire's 'Fish' solo on Yessongs as it had so many different musical feels to it. You can certainly hear the Squire influence but Camp is a fine bassist and there are some wonderful moments where he harmonises the bass with Annie Haslam's voice. I'm not one for bass solos but it is worth checking out.
21. You wouldn't be interested in a trade for my Overwater Aspiration Elite plus cash your way would you?
