1. I tried boiling strings once but even the bolognese sauce couldn't kill the taste. Them were hard days.
2. PM replied to. Will ship to EU countries at buyers expense.
3. Bump for price drop now £700, needs a good home, not hanging unplayed on the wall.
4.
Cr*p. Abrasive, tight, ill-defined, old technologies, redundant features, don't last, poor quality materials, poor quality control. Would love to be able to say a British manufacturer making a quality string, but this lot are not that. Because the strings are cheap, in relative terms, see people endlessly trying to justify to themselves that this lot make a quality product. But that's just bullsh*t.
Don't like them then?
5. Could I tempt you with a swap for my '57 USA P-bass that's FS on here with a cash balance TBA?
6. Ahem, back to the OP. I am 55 and now have Arthur Itiz. Ma Precision is in the fa' sale section. Ah wish Ah had done mare when Ah had a chance. Go for Son, life's too short.
7. Aye, well said Sir. it's all back to chasing the sound in your head, your never bloody satisfied. If it plays nice, get it and find your tone.
8. I think that I would remove the scratch plate and it would them look cool. Don't know what to make of the headstock logo tho'. Edit. It reminds me of Movember.
9.
Has anyone seen this one on Thomann? http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_68er_telecaster_bass_cc.htm Is it worth that price tag?
3 and a half grand for that, their having a laugh....I hope.
10. Just relax and enjoy it, when it's over, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about and be itching to go again.
11. Thanks to all that posted, Basschat is the place to be when you are a bit down.
12.
That really sucks. I can't imagine how physically and emotionally painful it must be to have to stop doing something you love. At the risk of asking a really stupid question, could you modify your technique in any way to make playing a tad easier/less painful?
Yeah, tried that but no joy, still hurts like f*ck. When I had an injection into my wrists a few months ago, I was pain free for a while but it's back again just as bad and my consultant won't give me another until June. Then it takes a long time to get to any reasonable level of performance and no where near to my old standard.
13.
Sorry to hear about your situation Sam, I can`t even begin to think how upsetting it must be. Just had a look at the bass you`re selling, and it`s a beauty, I don`t think it will hang around for too long. Re this though, as you have so much history with it, if you don`t need the money, why not keep it, unless it would be an even worse reminder that you can`t play anymore. Think if I were in your situation, providing I didn`t need the cash, I would hang on to it. Re Happy Jacks qeury - I know you said abt old dogs and new tricks, but a new instrument may be worth taking up. If keys are ok for you, you`d still be able to do basslines etc.
Thanks for you comments Lozzi but I just get pissed off when I see it hanging there every day. I think getting a cheaper bass in it's spot might be like nicotine patches, weaning me off gently.
14.
The AV '57 RI was never available in natural, so he did a bloody good job, I think!
Until I put it on here, I never thought it was anything but original but now understand some of the remarks I got when I first put up some photos of it a couple of months ago, didn't know what they were going on about then.
15.
Is there another instrument you could take up, which won't aggravate your condition? I've always wanted to learn to play the harmonica.
I started plying DB at 14 years old then went on to electric bass 2 years later, that's nearly 44 years in total, old dogs and that.
