1. Thanks Cosmo. I've seen a few of these Troy Sanders Squiers that seem to have gotten lucky with some nice flaming on the back of the necks. The finish in general is well above what you'd expect on a budget instrument, even if my photos don't quite do it justice

3. I pre-ordered one of the original batch from Kenny's when Karl first posted the link. Had it since the start of the month. It's one of the heavier ones compared to others on here weighing 9lbs exactly but it sounds and plays amazing. Used it on a track in the studio last weekend and was really pleased with the recorded sound too. Couldn't really afford it but have no regrets whatsoever.
4. Now £175 More photos here: http://s1282.photobu...J%20Jazz%20Bass The body is a lovely gloss black minimally used alder body in lovely condition. A bit of minor swirling but no dings at all. It is routed to accept a P pickup instead of the neck J (this is now in the Fender P sweetspot). It also has a custom made scratchplate, which is affixed with double sided tape which gives a great "stealth" screwless look. Pickups are a Wilkinson P pickup at the neck and a tonerider J at the bridge, which are a fantastic matching pair IMO. The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that there is a fourth control, which was initially used for an East parametric mids unit by the previous owner (but it didn't add anything and so it was took it out). This control is currently redundant, but the space is there under the pickguard should you want to use it. The controls are Volume, blend and tone, all passive. The blend is a great unit. No volume loss whatsoever at halfway. The neck is a barely used 2015 (therefore immaculate) CustomWorldGuitarParts maple Jazz neck, typical Jazz dimensions. Rosewood board and inlay blocks. These are great necks IMO, much more rigid than an equivalent Mighty Mite neck for example. The Graphtech nut slots are cut to perfection and the frets have been leveled. It plays beautifully. Generic tuners, which are cheap but very functional and stable. Strings are currently roundwound 105-50. Includes a very sturdy Gator hardcase. 8. That's somebody on the offset guitars forum who makes those I believe. Found it. Check out faction guitars on Facebook. Here's the list of what he currently makes: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/66506205/Custom%20Laser%20Cut%20Stainless%20Steel%20Guitar%20Control%20Plates.jpg [email protected]

10.
Only, doing a bit of spec comparison with Squier's VM Baritone Jazzmaster (which also seems to be quite well-regarded), it seems they have the scale length
The squier VM Baritone Jazzmaster uses the exact same neck as the Squier VM Bass VI (I have both and can confirm this) So I imagine you'd have no problem using the Bass VI as a baritone with appropriate strings.
11. Obviously the antigua finish is an acquired taste but mine sounds great.......but then so does the Squier Bass VI and as others have said...no reason you couldn't string one in a baritone tuning with the right string gauges.
12. The Squier jazzmaster baritone (antigua) is 30" scale length (same necks as the Squier VI's) and that comes tuned A-A as standard.
13. Martin is a top knotch guy and this is indeed a great price. Someone's going to get a bargain.
14. The Hoppus bass has a super hot output in my experience for a passive bass.
15. "My plan is to drill through the plasterboard into the brick and then fit the hangers using masonry screws (rather than using the shorter screws that come supplied with the Hercules hangers). I might even glob in some No More Nails for good measure." I did the exact same thing with the same hangers. Had to make the hole in the wooden base a little bigger for the larger screws and countersunk them also. One thing I did notice was that when the screws were fully tightened, there was a small gap around the edge where the wooden block meets the wall, usually on one side only. Don't know whether this was due to the wall (or wooden base) not being totally flat, but I just smoothed some no more nails around the edges where the block meets the wall just to put my mind at rest. They've been up for around 6 months now and (touch wood) are showing no signs of budging.
16. Hey Lorry, I plumped for a sandblasted crimson P-bass a few weeks back, also from GAK. It was the first time I've bought a bass this expensive without trying it first but I have no complaints. It's the first US Fender bass I've owned and I'm massively impressed. Very resonant, pleasingly light weight but not to the point of feeling insubstantial. Sounds great. Here's some pics of mine (disclaimer: the colour is not quite as garish as it appears in these pics, at least not to my eyes, although I think some people will find them garish either way )
17. Was looking to buy one of the Fender FSR swirl finish strats thomann have for sale. Sent them a quick email to see if the image shown was the actual instrument for sale or a stock image. Received a quick reply stating it was a stock image and that they had quite a few in stock. Asked if it was possible to take a few quick photos of a few of them so I could choose the finish I liked best and was told this wasn't possible and that they could take a picture of one. Didn't think my request was too unusual for an instrument where the finishes are highly variable. End result, Thomann lose a sale. Had a mixture of dealings in the past but on the whole most have been positive.
18.
Mr Hoppus is up that list also. Their instruments were genuinely different to anything else in the catalogue not to mention about 400 pounds street and therefore affordable.
Tis true! Cheapest way at the time of getting a jazz body, P-neck, spb-3 equipped, thru body strung bass. And good choice of colours. Still fancy getting my hands on a shell pink one at some point if one pops up in good condition. I like the finish on the Clayton jazz, but it doesn't seem to have that many unique features compared to a US standard.
