  1. It's separate from the bridge, it's this one from Allparts: https://www.allparts.uk.com/products/genuine-fender-62-jaguar-mute-assembly-kit?_pos=317&_sid=e21f7b17d&_ss=r

    NPD

I've had mine a few months, bought mainly for recording, but I've used it live too. Just passive basses, 2 Precisions and a Jazz. It really is fantastic for recording, just plug straight into the desk and compress on mix down, it's just there. It even makes my Dano Longhorn sound expensive. The eq is great, and surprisingly versatile for a 2 band. Live, I've used the high pass with bass dialled back in a bit to 8 or 9 o'clock, treble at 12, through an MB III set flat (effects return on these doesn't bypass the amp's eq). I've also used it for recording a Rhodes, it really brings it alive and gives it a bit of air. All in all a fab bit of kit, and better than money in the bank in current conditions.
  3. Yes, it's adjustable to taste, but unlike the Martinez, it only has 2 positions, on or off.
  4. It's a rocker mechanism that snaps it on or off. A bit Heath Robinson, but very effective when set up properly.
  5. I have the Fender Jaguar-type mute on my Sean Hurley sig Precision, it works very well, so I bought another to fit to my Nash P. Trouble is it's a faff to fit, and needs holes drilling etc, so has remained in a drawer somewhere. I need one that is selectable as I use it at different times in the set. Luckily, I came across a Ellio Martinez bass mute for sale on here, it arrived this morning and it's now fitted. It works very well, 3 positions, no more fumbling with bits of foam mid set.
  6. Just bought a Martinez bass mute from Joe, easy transaction, good communication and speedy posting. Highly recommended.
  7. Just sold a pedal to Lee, great comms, prompt payment, a pleasure to deal with. Cheers Lee!
  8. Disappointing as it is, I'd send it back pronto, each of those issues are unacceptable on a new instrument.
  9. Yes, and it will sound good. I carry a Trace Elf with mine, in case of this. Not needed it yet though.
  10. Ooh. I've wanted this since I saw Ronnie in the Faces in '72. Not at £70k though. Looks like Bob Daisley's decided to sell some of his collection.
  11. I've had 2 of these plus a D8B for 22 years now, and they're still in daily use. Rock solid reliable, excellent converters, and still the quickest and most intuitive editing I've ever used. I've recorded dozens of studio and live albums with them, including a top 30 single. Highly recommended, GLWTS!
  12. I've recently bought from https://www.allparts.uk.com with great success.
  13. 1 set D'Addario long scale Tape Wounds cut for Fender in-line, hardly played, . £25 posted, or collection Bristol £20.
  14. On a bad day with the fretless, it sounds like a cow that's in the process of dying. Which is why I sold it to my neighbour.
  15. Once a year or so I get obsessed with one of my favourite local bands: this from the Swagger era of their ever changing lineup.
  16. Yes it's a bit Heath Robinson and difficult to adjust effectively, and it needs a big hole of precise depth for the spring plunger thingy. Would have preferred the Bassmute, but hard to get. Well done on finding one, got to love the BC wanteds.
  17. I tried to order one of these months ago, but never heard back from them. I have the Fender Jaguar one on my CS Sean Hurley, it works very well, so I've just got another one from Allparts for my Nash. £40 delivered. Quite invasive to fit though, what with holes to be drilled etc. I think I'll leave it to my tech.

    Limelight

    Limelight

I've owned a Limelight, a Nash, and a Fender, all Ps, all at the same time, and there's not a lot between them really. I moved the Limelight on, mainly because it had a Jazz neck, which I didn't get along with, and kept the other two. The aged hardware on the Limelight, particularly the bridge, was just plain rusty, and was difficult to adjust, although I believe this has been rectified on more recent builds, and you can specify new hardware if you want. Also, the loom on mine was very untidy, although it functioned as it should. The Nash is on another level on details like that, but is more expensive. The good thing about the Limelight is that Mark will build you what you want, and you can talk directly to him. A custom build from Nash would take a long time to materialise, although Bass Direct have a few in stock at the moment. YMMV.
  20. This lot covers most eventualities:
  21. I bought a DBS 7200 new in the 90s, with the matching 4x10 and 1x15. Lovely sounding rig, but a bit heavy by todays standards. Looked the business though. It never let me down.
  22. Gallien-Krueger MBX 112 extension cab designed for MB150 combo. 8 ohm 100w. Aluminium, so pretty much indestructible. Makes a very effective mini stack with a MB150. A few scratches here and there. Includes original padded bag, which is a bit tatty but does the job. Collection from Bristol, or can post for £10.
