You are right but everyone calls that a neck date as if the neck was made on that specific date. It's on Craig's list too http://london.craigslist.co.uk/msg/1009411254.html

Did you try Bristol Rocks, Gumtree and Trade it?
OG that EUB looks very elegant on the Hercules. I now have GAS just for the purpose of acquiring more Hercules stands
Oh dear ...
Its the GS412B I bought too. First thing I did this morning was take the guitar off the stand and put it straight back on. It made me smile. SAD! SAD! SAD!
Oh this is definately geeky The engineering is clever and I like that. When a bass in on the stand it's held securely but the autograb system means you can lift it off with one hand. This means bass swapping on stage is neat and tidy and easy. The thing is also very steady on a bouncy stage, even with the EUB on it.
So here's the latest incarnation of my rig. Pointless Furman conditioner (but hey it's got lights!) Peterson Stroborack EBS TD650 and... 4 x EBS-210 Proline cabinets. ...but it makes sense. 2x10s are portable, light... and depending upon the needs of the gig/rehearsal I can take 1, 2, 3 or 4 cabs... and arrange them in all sorts of patterns. A bit like Tetris really.
oooooooooh! You can flap eveyone's trousers with that ...

Excellent ... Thanks What's that first tune called? The one where Marcus starts singing "if you want me ..." with the circular pusing bass line?
I'm considering the IEM option and had a wee chat with my local audiologist who is just around the corner from my office. They can take the molds for me to get a set of custom fitted earphones but I don't know what happens after I have the molds. I remember we had some discussion about this on Bassworld but I can't remember the process. Do I send the molds away to a specialist manufacturer? What do they produce? A set of earphones or a set of plugs that can take ear phones? Do I need a special set of earphones designed for IEM?
Will you be wearing the headgear in your Avatar, Zaphod?
Whilst there is merit in good advice if everyone listened to the doubters with regard to any enterprise no one would be doing anything ! I personally wish vmaxblues every success in this venture and its our responsibility as a community to support him. We all bemoan the passing of family owned shops in our hometowns yet we all shop at Tesco. We watch our main streets decline yet we all shop on line ! Just to say "it won't work" or "those days are gone" isn't helpful and not constructive in anyway. With the correct attitude anything is possible it depends how hard you are prepared to work for it. A lot of people are happy in their "comfort zone" picking up a wage slip every month and would never risk anything to try a business venture which can be worrying , exhilarating and fun at the same time. I don't see how those people can advise someone else on running a company when they have never done it themselves. Its a bit like business advisers who have never run a company wtf !!!! Running your own business has a certain attractive edginess about it that is hard to explain. A friend of my was sacked as a director of a company last year when the other directors turned on him. He went straight out and started a new company. 12 months on he is opening his second shop in direct competition with the old company he worked for. And as for the company that sacked him , they are struggling and may go out of business. How did he do it ? bloody hard graft. Anytime is a good time to start a business you just gotta have a passion for it. And a last word of advice.....don't think everything in the bass / music world is reflected in basschat ! 80% of the basses I have sold have been sold elsewhere. (ducks and runs for cover.... )
ha ha yeah consultants, eh? Well some of us do run businesses ... and bands ... and are consumers and customers of bricks and mortar shops, music and otherwise. And... have objective and pragmatic views.. You really don't have to have done something yourself to have valuable input into whether it's a good idea. I agree with purpleblob .. If you have enough dosh to do that, go ahead and have a go. Another positive experience is Jam guitars in Bristol. Specialist individualistic guitar shop selling customs, one offs, specials and boutique amps and efffects things. They have the odd bass now and then. Though I am not privvy to their financial sitation they do seem to be doing OK. http://www.jamguitars.co.uk/
Absolutely brilliant! I hadn't heard this before. That version of Great Gig In The Sky had my fingers itching to pick up a bass ...
Yeah It's a gem .. Made me wonder what other albums would be good to do... It woud have to be a complete album that hangs together, I think .. Tommy? Quadrophenia? -
Even I wouldn't say single-handed, and he's been my favourite bass player for 30 years-but he was certainly right up there at the forefront. I doubt he'd be too bothered about a Fender sig model now-he loves his Shukers, and he was very happy about the fact that he was able to support a home-grown Luthier when I met him last year.
I'm glad he did. My Shuker P5 is very much the JJB bass in essence.

What do you play if you're trying a bass in a music shop?
OldGit replied to molan's topic in General Discussion
and then I play NV43345 (only kidding)
on a P bass? Made I laff Come on, people, the OT was what do you play not what checks do you do ..... I like playing in music shops (though the basses are not usually set up to my taste) and it's fab to see some 14 year old slap and pop the hell out of something .. At 14 I could just about manage a few root notes and "House of the rising sun" .. I play some thinsg acoustically, fret buzz checks, make sure each note works then play The Princess Royal. It's an old Morris dancing tune we play which features lots of widdle, pull offs, bends, harmonics, that sort of thing. Typical old English folk .. Actually I should probably drop in some tappin'and slappin' too just for fun. or one of my originals' bass line that has a lot of widdle and maybe some of Stairway to heaven (the solo) just to anoy any old school guitar testers haning about. I quite like "Bach - Cantata 147- Jesu: Joy of man's desire" too 'cos it fits under the fingers easily and sounds great loud ... Or I jam along to the 13 year old shredder in the guitar section ... -
I don't actually think it makes any difference to me, sound wise and musically. In a dep situation I suppose as far as watching for changes etc it is better to be able to see the bass player. Hand gestures from the singer usually don't mean a great deal. Hand gestures from guitarists are often rude. Whilst were on it are there any universal 'musical hand gestures' detailed anywhere ? I find these usual ones seem to be used quite often : Drawing a circle with your finger in the air : continue playing / everyone follow / everyone play. Calm down type motion : 'quieter' opposite motion 'louder' (don't get that often) Couting with the fingers held up : Bars left / number of 'stab' stops.. 'Throat cut' : end / dead stop / your sacked Vigorous / splurious hand motions : speed up - slow down / don't do that / that was sh*t you w***er / youv'e 'had it' later... Hands across the chest or spread out in crucificial manner : I'm a lead singer and my ego is clearly larger than I can imagine / anti perspirant is still wet..
Gutarand's "Death Stare" when you play a C under an Amin chord and they think you have played a wrong note and want the entire audience to know too.
Here's a bump relevant to London area residents: Me and my fiancee will be in London 6th to 9th of february. Which means I could probably bring one instrument over. Probably - I have never flown with Ryanair before and I don't know if they're musician friendly or not. Yes the basses are still for sale!
I don't think "Ry@nAir" and "Musician Friendly" have been used in the same sentance for some years. They are famous here for rock bottom prices but crappier than crap service and loosing luggage then screwing you to get it back. http://www.ryanaircampaign.org/ "No matter how carefully I read the terms and conditions and considered their implications, I never would have imagined that Ryanair would use their failure to put my baggage on two successive flights (24 hours apart) as a means of getting extra money from me once I was desperate. " I'd not risk it unless you have very good insurance and a very likely sale arranged.
