This looks neat. A bit like a Markbass Mark Stand but different Stiff foam amp wedge to tilt your cabs back . I think this is brilliant - you get the top cab pointing at your ears but you can also have your head on top ...
Actually I think you'll find it's a "stainless steel retainer plate". Have you seen his toggle and shoelace "Quick Fit Headstock Connector"? Because I don't know about you but passing an acoustic guitar's strap over my head to put it on just isn't quick enough.
A bit of me admires his inginuity

One thing to make it easier for the deps is to record yoru gigs on a regular basis so they can have a decent idea of how you do things..
It's a real bummer not having a car and having to shoot in the dark a bit, but you guys have been loads of help! Hopefully I can be helpful to the forum too, a bit.
There may be a Basschat member in your area that will help .. Edit your details to show where you are. That always helps.

Just found this http://www.lucaspickford.com/transbass.htm A nice selection of basslines from Pino, Rocco, MeShell, Chuck, Victor, Bootsy, Jaco, etc ....

Wow. Use a pick. No one will notice.

You could start with a Shuker JJ Burnel P bass http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/jjburnel.htm

Seems a bit bad to be unavailable a lot (teachers holidays .. hummmmmmmmmmmm) and to also be snotty about the band depping someone one for you. I'd have to have a word about how selfish they are being. Generally when dealing with a gig enquiry I'll just say no rather than get in a dep, unless it's something special/big bucks/sounds like fun (eg freshers week ) or comes with some added value like the Gliding club gig we have this summer that comes with a day all the band's families can come along to and a few flights too However we have a somewhat left field solution to the problem of our guitarist being unavailable rather a lot that probably won't work for many bands: we invited his dep to join te band as well. So now we have two guitarists and on some gigs there will be Dave 1, others Dave 2 and on a few we have a Double Dose of Daves .... Fortunately they work very well together and on double Dave gigs I get to play a lot fewer notes I also dep and had the incredible situation last year of getting a phone call at 4 oclock on the day of the gig from the drummer/organiser saying his singer and guitarist had refused to play a gig with a bass player they didn't know - this was covering for someone who was ill and at 24 hours notice. They would rather let the venue down than "risk" it. Twits. That band folded after that mallarchy. Still I learned a few new tunes and now I'm putting a band together with the drummer so all was not lost.

You could put the LED switch on the back like mine are. That would free up the vol push pull (I assume) for something else. Knob size variations sounds like a good idea.
also, the bass might be finished the weekend after next!
Doubt it.. Half term next week He'll be child wrangling ...

Go for it. You don't have to have them nailed by Sunday, just by May .. It will be great for your development and learning and there's loads of help around. Ask them for the tunes on Cd or, better, a recording of them doing it so you get the nuances of their arrangement. Then try searching youtube for the tunes' bass play along or lesson like this one: and Chordie for the chords like this one Then just play along a lot
I did see the AB100 from another site. Had a quick look at good ol' Harmony Central and the feedback was not favourable. So I dismissed it. BUT, I appreciate your point about the cheapness of it to prove the point.....before splashing out for a more expensive, but ultimately better, piece of kit. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh yeah, it's maintaining the Behringer small kit reliability reputation for sure .. but that's to be expected at that money .. I guess you could use the box and build the maplins special inside ..

Playing music you dislike, case S. Wonder
OldGit replied to nobodysprefect's topic in General Discussion
Well, seems there certainly are people who'd love to change their seats for mine - I'd probably love to sit in yours once! It'd be grand to let my hair down and wail on 'Living loving maid' or 'Black dog' or somesuch classic rock piece just once! 'I Wish' is a tune which I think is rather delicate in the sense that you can't really f*** with it's components too much without losing it's 'I Wishness' - the drummer didn't pull the tempo out of his hat, he plays lots of gigs with the singer and he always uses the metronome to zero in on the tempo. And since it's a relatively simple piece it is no good to not have the hits in the very end. 'Sir duke' is a great piece of music, I'll grant that - and there are some other tunes I really dig by him, but does he have to be so damnably happy all the time? Where are my satanic mills, my burning Troys? Whither went sadness that stills, suicidal boys? But I guess it's just me... For me, 'One' is about right in the saccharine-bitterness axis. Anyways, I resolved to pick a version of 'Isn't she lovely' (deer lard, such inane lyrics) and grok the bassline and not think about that tune any more. As regards 'My brown eyed-girl' a recently deceased finnish soul man made his own reggae-ish version of that tune and it totally kills. I'd really rather play that than Wonder's tunes. He re-made the lyrics and they are about LOSS now! I'll type up a translation for this thread's enjoyment.
Hum That's odd ... " Causes of the increased incidence of mental health disorders [in Finland] The growing numbers do not necessarily indicate an actual increase in the prevalence of mental health disorders. Several factors explain the increase, particularly of depression. First, the awareness of mental health problems has risen among doctors and patients, improving the likelihood of recognition. This is due partly to the availability of new antidepressants and their marketing in the Western world. Clinicians have become more skilled at recognising depression. For instance, people reporting chronic backache and fatigue may also obtain a secondary diagnosis of depression. The stigma traditionally associated with mental health problems is diminishing, and both physicians and service users are more freely discussing these issues. This, in turn, is reflected in the recorded increase in mental health disorders.7 8 Second, changes in the diagnostic systems are partly responsible for the increase. A number of cases that would have been classified under the category of neuroses in the old system now fall under the category of affective disorders (i.e. major depression). At the same time the number of diagnosed neuroses has decreased. " Report Website Doesn't mention Stevie Wonder's happiness here as a cause .. So much for research ... So, next time she asks you to play just say no ... -

This will split the signal and give you gain controls for £17 .. http://www.dv247.com/invt/30362/ I have one and the battery change process is terrible (I pulled the connector out of teh pedal and re-assembled it with teh 9v battery outside of the box. It eats batteries. A power lead helps but the connector socket was loose on mine which lead to some interesting problem chasing during a sound check ... In contrast my guitarist bought one at the same time and his has been fine ... However for £17 it's a cheap way to test the concept ........
I don't think he is. I've emailed asking if he'd be interested in a trade for some rust from the wheel arch of a 1964 Avenger.
you mean a 1946 Avenger? "Former President George Bush Sr. was shot down by the Japanese while flying an Avenger during World War Two. Their huge popularity presented a problem for Grumman and they had to contract much of the production out to General Motors Corporation. Grumman completely ceased production of the Avenger in December of 1943 and General Motors continued production. Of the 9836 Avengers built, 7546 came off of the assembly lines of General Motors."
