2. Go in and record what you can as best as you can on the first date. For selling bands to the wedding market you can then edit a short set of good bits together as an example. That will be enough. If you can video your band playing at a gig too that will work even better. A 3 minute composite youtube of you playing 3 or 4 tunes will do the trick. If they are not convinced to contact you from that no amount of polished perfect studio recordings will do it ...
 3. Sold Ta For Sale My Randall RB2000 Bi-Amp head. "The Road Warrior" Designed by the recently deceased Mr Randall just after he left Fender so a pretty good pedigree. It's a Bi-Amp ie there's two separate power amps in one box with a sophisticated preamp to control things. There's 150 watts into the treble side (plug in a 2x10) and 375 into the bass side (go for a 1x15) or you can bridge the preamp and get full range at 375 watts. There's no indication whatsoever what ohmage the output should be. Nothing on the box, nothing in the manual. I did email them to ask but I got no reply... Lots of knobs and variations including tone presets and a compressor. PM me for the PDF of the manual is you are interested in the detail Recently fully serviced by John Turner in Cardiff. I'd like [s]£175[/s] £100 or offers of donations to a cancer charity ... PM me I will post but it will probably cost a few quid as it weighs a lot. 6. Looking at a fairly well used Fender Bassman 20 valve combo. It's got a 12 inch goodmans replacement speaker .. Someone I know has one for sale and I'm getting into harpin' too and these bassman things seem to be popular with harpies ... It's bigger than my normal small gigs combo but the thought of a valve bassman is very GAS inducing .. There's no hum or other odd noises other thna a crunchy jack, but I suspect the valves have not been changed .. Will it need a £200 valve replacement and rebuild operation? What do you think?
 7.
Ask him about his P bass Si...is it 62 or 64 or does he use a different one now.....Ha! I'm like a starstruck teenager
Ha ha wellllllllll Before I knew who he was he got up after me to play bass at the jam and I handed him my Shuker 5 string Precision and showed him the controls . "Yes I know how a Precision works" he said gently "but I'm not sure about this extra string" Of course what really caught him out was the fixed strap on locks as I'm about 6 inches taller and a fair bit wider than Burke. He coped even though it was dangling around his knees I've seen him play in a jam sesion house band with a Kramer aluminium necked bass, an ancient trace head and a big old vox 1x15 cab .. I've ordered Budgie's greatest hits to see what the fuss is all about ..
 8. Buy used with help from a bass player, maybe someone on here. Buy this Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=402380 and you'll be Ok selling it again after you either want to give up or upgrade (not that you'll need to for a while) I'd say don't buy an SX without help from the folks on here who know them as there are good ones and pretty bad ones.. Plenty of practice amps about for £20 in Cash Converter etc or in your local free ads paper. Oh and save a few quid for 6 months of lessons. That will get you started the best way.
 9. Maybe handy for Doctor of the bass's garden fence
 10.
It's original Brazilian Rosewood. Joe has his name in the list somewhere, I think more and more Basschaters are making their way to his door. Met one yesterday when I was around there having a cup of Tea and talking 55P basses!
This Joe White? Plus it has had the care and attention that only a hand-built bass can have.... bump......
It's that funny MM Sub matt body finish I think ....

 18.
I don't see evidence that Carol Kaye has an "attitude problem". So she made a statement, which I haven't seen her repeat. Hardly an "attitude" being struck there I feel. Also I don't think that a few cheap shots from Basschat constitutes "messing up a reputation". Carol Kaye was recording for Motown in LA, along with Wilton Felder and others, and it's a fact that a lot of LA recorded bass sessions got overdubbed by James Jamerson back in Detroit. But, whatever, her reputation for playing on 1000's of sessions and 100's of hit records stands.
Yes I agree she is a great bass player Ask any bass player (and face it, who else will now who she is) and they will probably say "great basss player but she claimed she played on many Motown hits that she didn't, even though its a grey area." That's what I mean. But hey, I've just read it on the web..
 19.
thinking of parting with my 63 re issue, bought in 91 has the odd mark on the body and the odd mark on the fretboard. Great tone etc fitted with emg active pick ups (no routing) Not sure of the market value to be honest, but its twice the bass my yank 62 re issue was.
A load of pictures would help...
 20. I strap my stuff together with luggage straps anyway so it's stable on rocky stages .. Just need to do that.

 23.
Hey people, i have recently joined a reggae outfit, and im really enjoying it! Doing covers such as Toots, Burning Spear, Marley, UB40, and various riddims.. Like with many genre's, it has sub genres, but its interesting to see the riddims passed along from the originator, to other artists, and to hear there lyrical take on it. Riddims like Ali baba, Slengteng, Declaration of Rights, Police in Helicopter, Forever lovin Jah riddims..Also great songs like UB40's Food for thought, and my favorite Marley's waiting in vain.. These riddims/bass lines have to be kept to the original, and i like to improvise , so i have to erm....reel in my ego and stick with the groove (and i mean note for note) I also feel that it has a very close relation to funk, in as much as the groove and feel/touch is everything, wether it be on the one, or off the beat.. Any one had experience playing reggae??
Oh, So envious. In the 70's I was the white bloke on Rickenbacker bass in a an otherwise all black reggae band. Good times... I have a long term plan to get another reggae band together to play the ol' classics again. No modern yoof ska-punk stuff just the old stuff with a major groove componant. Just wating for the right people to happen along.. Yup "less is more" applies here and, of course, the whole thing is resting on your shoulders You might like to check out his new release: The Highrise project. It's a CD linked with a campagn to combat gun and knife crime. review: http://www.dizzybeatnetwork.com/node/215 Lots of the tracks are on a continuoious Cherry oh Baby riddum whihc is a good thing in my book.
 24. Burke and me hang out He is very nice, even to people who have no idea who he is He also has the ability to play the same £50's worth of cash converter sh*te gear we all play (at the jam sessions we hang out at) and make it sound better than classic vintage gear, without changing any settings . Man's a genius ...
 25.
She's an amazing bass player but she hasn't done herself justice by what she's said in the past concerning her part in Motown.
+1 Just goes to show how much one small attitude problem can totally mess up your reputation for life.
