3.
issit true the fatboy was named after the bomb the yanks dropped on hiroshima?(the idea being a parallell to the USA decimating jap bike sales with their bike) seems a bit of a norty by willie g if so...
or maybe a rare moment of self realisation?
 4. Bump ... Almost sold out, and a special run by the gritter lorry booked for the village for Saturday
 5. Had another go with the manual and zoom last night and I found out how to erase all to get a blank canvas ... also how to toggle an effect type in and out whilst editing (hit the foot button) That was an eye/ear opener as it allowed me to isolate each effect type from a patch and hear what each was contributing to the overall sound in a patch ... Also, with Tom's assistance, how to get that "stomp box single effect" thing going. I can't get the Wah-Wah to work the way I want it to but I have the Weeping Demon anyway so that's not a problem. We will see how it goes on Saturday night Thanks

 7.
After all this, I've decided that I'm going to buy a head now (s/h for upto/around £170) and a cab/cabs (s/h for around £150 sound reasonable?) in about 2 months time. Thanks for all your help, great to feel welcome
Your neighbours will thank you .... for 2 months anyway .. All this talk of valve amps .. If anyone can find a real life giggable all valve solution for the Op's budget please tell us where
 8. Oh yummie
 9. Hi there. You may want to trawl through the wiki here http://wiki.basschat.co.uk/ The "buying your first amp" section seems to have gone but there's other articles that you'll find useful and informative. and use the search function (top right of the page) to read what other newbies have found out about things like "solid state" and "valve preamps" ... In brief for your £180 you'll get some pretty reasonable combos (that's an amp and speaker on one box like this Ashdown). as opposed to a "head" or "amp" which is just the amp bit which needs a "speaker cab" or "cab" which has the speaker in it but no amp, if you want to hear anything ... Simply put if you are playing with a drummer now or in the near future, you'll need about 300 watts to keep up reasonably well. A 100 watt combo will struggle a bit.. +1 on Ashdown, Laney, Peavey Have a look through the for sale section here, ebay and gumtree for ideas. OG
 10.
I have an ARIA SWB LITE ONE BASS which I am selling to upgrade to an EMINENCE. I have had it approx 18 months and used it on gigs every week. You can get a good jazz/r&b sound from it. Good long notes. Easy to get used to. When I was looking around for an EUB I tried a few NS Basses ( the expensive ones) and the difference to the ARIA in my opinion was nothing.(considering the price difference). I am selling my ARIA for £500. I have re-strung it with D'ADDARIO strings and have a stand also. ( Not normally with the ARIAs) Regards TONYD
Hi Tony, You should post that in basses for sale as well. Cheeers OG
 11.
Aaaaah, I see. You have to go through each module using the knob on the far left, and turn them off by pressing the two little switch buttons (can't remember the name for them) at the same time. When you have all modules off you should have a 100% clean sound to work with. EDIT: If it were up to me there would be a "clear patch" function on there so you could create a 100% clean patch quickly, but going through the modules isn't so bad, and once you have one clean patch, just copy it to loads of others.
Ok ta I'll have a go .. So .. Phil Lynot on Dancin' in the moonlight intro? Flanger, phaser or chorus?
 12.
The best advice would be to read the manual but..... Now that you have your "natural" bass sound, copy that patch to a number of other patches. Do this by pressing "save" (or whatever it is) once, then change the patch number, then press save again. Now you have a few patches that all sound the same with no effects on them. For the Octave, turn the far left knob to the synth module, then select the harmonizer or whatever it's called, then use the knobs to adjust the level of the octave and the level of your dry effect. Then press save, twice. Done! It's all that simple really. What is a little difficult is the 2 char display. It means you really have to read the manual or that little chart that comes with it so that you know which codes refer to which effect. To change the expression pedal assignment you have to turn the module knob (far left) all the way clockwise and then change the setting. If you've selected pedal wah it could be set automatically, but you might have to set it manually. If you have specific problems I could maybe offer more specific advice...?
Hey cheers Tom, Well I have this bathroom to decorate .... Oh you mean on the Zoom? I've RTFM'd for several hours and on several ocasions (I clearly need a 8 year old to read it for me as it's "technology" ...) I guess the main problem I have is finding neutral. The "my natural sound" to which I refered erlier is with the Zoom bypassed ...(and my TE compressor and Weapin' Demon fuzz wah ) So what I want the zoom to do is just add a single effect per patch so octave, wah, flange etc like a single effect stomp box .. I don't seem to be able to turn everything off to start with ... Cheers, OG
 13. Peavey were buggers for that too. Their 1x15 combo's all have a single top handle and I think my antedeluvian combo 300 weighs about Fortunately the PO of mine fitted big box side handles What is a surprise, though, is the single top handle on the Bergantino AE112. It's light enough to carry one handed (two at once usually) but the handle means that anything on top of the cab that doesn't have feet rocks all over the place. This includes my rack. I just strap it all down but it's anoying.
 14. Hi B2.1u experts .... I've been struggling and making do but as I seem to have sorted my natural bass sound out now I really want the Zoomeroonie to do a few specific things that I've failed to get so far. Can any of you post specific settings to achive these stomp box emulations? Every setting I currently have seems to be something with something else ... like fuzz+ wah + reverb or distortion with flanger An octave pedal like a Boss OC2 (one octave down only) A funk wah like a Dr Q A Wah wah A flanger A distortion/fuzz like on "dance to the music" I'm gonna add some bottom ..... Apart from the wah wah I need the pedal to be a volume control .. Ta! OG

 22.
hello yourself old friend..as you know it was your recomendation that made me shell out me hard earned, and im glad i did. incidently, john haire(our local luthier) looked at it and said you had made a blinding job of the set up which is praise indeed from the great man. btw quinny helped me up the stairs to get out of charters in the early hours sun morning with me flightcased ampeg head and mesa boogie cab( i think he may have lost an ovary doing it), and now reckons no matter how good and meaty my old rig sounds next to his pimped orange guitar amp and cab i should get a nice small peavey 90 combo or similar instead, lazy young bleeder that he is.. i will deffo post a full review when ive used it fior a few more gigs oldgit( we must be related mate ) once ive sussed it out a bit more and seen if hard use brings on any problems; im a heavy handed player and may be going up at least a guage to 105s once its burnt in a bit more, so we will see how the trussrod/neck/action copes with that, though in truth i mightnt bother, it sounds unbelievably fat on 100's, even the high end runs.
Ha ha, nah mate, Can't be ... I use mamy-pamby wimps strings .. Hey, you could fight orange with yellow and save your back too ...
