1.
Trouble is I'm the singer and it's my pint that will be getting slurped! Bananas don't sound very rock n roll to me, I probably will stick to beer!
Bananas are VERY rock and roll - buy two, eat one and keep the other in yer trousers for later.
 2. Two things have been suggested to me that might help have been drinking Tonic Water, and eating Bananas. not sure if it would work for everyone, but it wont cost much to try.
 3. Call his bluff, tell him your taking a break next month but your happy to lend him a Bass. Mind you, if he does only take a fortnight to learn to play rhythm stick and sing at the same time, you might have to backpedal.
 4. Pub gaffers know you have to drive, free beer is a con they're using more and more. One trick at a so called charity event was to give each band member 6 beer tokens half and hour before we went on. As we were on last but one they weren't much use realy. But a punter who was with a crowd of about ten people had bought me a pint earlier, so I collected the 20 tokens we had left, gave them all to him as I left and said fill yer boots mate. Gaffer wasnt happy about that apparently.
 5. Music on the radio is a sort of backdrop to most peoples lives. As I see it, everyone is influenced by what they have heard during their life. Anyone my age, who grew up listening to what was on the radio pre Radio 1, and before independent radio in the UK, will probably remember hearing a much wider variety of music than younger people. Probably, like myself, they will remember lyrics and melodies to all sorts of stuff which, if they didnt actually listen to or like, will be embedded in their brains. There was only the Light Program after all, with its 3 way Family Favourites, Val Doonican, and Billy Cotton Band Shows. So the Beatles, like all of us will have had a wide range of influences, some of it pretty uncool. but as you rarely hear The Beatles on the radio anymore, younger people will surely be influenced by bands who were influenced by bands who were influenced by them. So really, theyre no more influenced by The Beatles than by anyone that came before them, if you see what I mean.
 6.
Getting back OT, I'm appalled at the notion that anyone could have been influenced by Roger Moore in a Lotus. The only possible candidate would be Sean Connery in an Aston Martin DB5. Now that led to Roger Moore in a Volvo (The Saint), a far more acceptable combination. Just don't get me started on Lord Peter Wimsey ...
Naah ! No.6 in his Lotus7. The only way to go.
 7.
inspire me to pick up a bass, so I guess if you follow that line back you could say that my ultimate influences are the original Jamaican ska bassists from the 60s, and later reggae (I'm sure Family Man will have been in there somewhere too). Not a Beatle in sight there if you ask me.
Me too. I listened to Chuck and Little Richard, Stones - yep, some beatles even. But later, when I worked in Winson Green and heard all that Prince Buster and Blue Beat, I knew I wanted to play it.
 8.
You weren't there and don't get it. Do you know what year this footage is from? This is a part of the innocent age of rock music, early in the developmental stage laying the foundation for whatever you kids listen to today. And the lyrics are more socially relevant now then they were at the time. I still don't get why most younger musicians have no use or sense of history. And if your not young like over 60, then I really don't get it. Even when I was a 9 year old Beatles freak, i still found myself saying, " this is fantastic, but how did it happen, how did it evolve, how did they get there" Mozart,? Poor example. But that's just me. LOL Blue
I was there, its from 68. In 68/69 i was working in a record shop. Kids were buying stuff like that, talking about stuff like that. I was buying back catalogue stuff, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly etc, even Muddy Waters. the sort of thing that did influence people like The Beatles. If your a kid standing on a stage playing guitar music, your influenced by them, just like the generation before you were
 9. Never used glue for filling holes in wood, just used wood. Matter of interest, I blocked the nozzle in a bottle of PVA with a woodscrew and the screw went rusty in about a week. Anybody ever used glue and then had a problem with the screw going rusty and breaking, or not being able to get the screw out ?
 10.
Noh, I wuz jus' joshin' really. I don't adhere to this 'You weren't there' hype; I never met Mozart, but I'm told he did some cute stuff. I was there, though, here, in '68... A double bill at the Middle Earth Roundhouse, with alternate Doors, Jefferson Airplane, break, the Airplane then Doors; a show from dusk till dawn. Other artists were Terry Reid, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown and Blonde On Blonde. I walked home from Chalk Farm to Heathrow, and was still 'out of it' when I got home. Unforgettable; very impressive. No, this was pre-dope and such. Heady stuff, great daze. Embryonic light show for the Airplane, sober white light for the Doors, presence in spades, music to live and die for... One had to be there, though, to understand, or so I'm told.
Watched as much of that as I could stand. Nah, still dont get it. Might be good if I did, but I still wouldnt like it. Mozart was good, but I dont listen to that either do I ?
 11. Well done, great idea to post that. How many of the people you played with when you started are still playing ? Not many, but I bet most of em wish they'd had your experiences. I still got my first Bass. An Eros Jazz, bought in 73 still plays well, still love the feel of it, but not the weight.
 12.
I'd put Pet Sounds well up on any list of influential albums. Thank god it's not just me feels like that cringeworthy sixth-form lyrics and thoroughly unremarkable music. Everything I've ever heard of The Doors has been utterly meh. But then again, I was only 6 when they released Riders On The Storm which means I wasn't really there, so my opinion counts for now't.
This...
 13.
Ah, but you weren't there, were you..? That changes everything, it would seem.
Weren't where ? The states ? Nope. But at 63, yes I was around at the time i thats what you mean.
 14.
This what I always tell young people when they give a negative opinion on The Beatles; " You weren't there, so you don't have a valid or credible foundation for your opinion, saying you don't like them means nothing" Blue
I didnt like Zep, Cream, The Doors, Deep Purple, most Hendrix, and loads of other stuff. Doesnt make my opinion invalid. I just dont enjoy what they did, doesnt mean I think they were crap - Except for The Doors maybe, I cant see anything good there tbh.
 15. You should be able to get 68uf 100V caps easy enough. Likewise 47uf 450V or 400V. increasing the value or the rated voltage a bit wont do any harm, but dont use lower voltage ones. Try to get 105 degrees ones if you can, heat kills electrolytics before their time.
 16. Diecast Neutrix ones every time. I have cables that have lasted me 20years+
 17.
I'm willing to pay you a ten pound note, that was given to me by Eric Clapton, who had apparently been given it by Bruce Springsteen who had won it on a scratchcard which Bono had found at Buckingham Palace....
Ah, so thats where I lost it. Please PM me for my address so that you can send me my tenner.
 18. like my very rare copy of Bass guitar for dummies, its worth whatever he can get for it. You can have the above mentioned for £30 btw.
 19.
I think you'll find they're about 100 now. But still good value, I'll give you that.
Yeah, but the ones on there now are lacquered and have a logo. Although he did throw in the logo and put it on gratis.
 20. Search on ebay for: lic by fender Theres a guy sells them on there, I paid him about forty quids for a nice unfinished Jazz neck a few years ago and it was ace.
 21.
a two-week mid-life crisis group relationship-counselling holiday in the Lake District.
Wasn't that an episode of The Simpsons ?
 22. Carlsboro Stingray, everytime. The solid state thing with the push buttons on the front. Carlsboror did make some usable kit, but that wasnt one of em. I used a mates in the 70s and compared to my HH ic100 it was rubbish. then years later used a rehearsal room in Bilston that still had one, and it was every bit as bad as I remembered.
 23.
i quite enjoyed the Sheridan Smith Cilla TV show last year.
Sheridan Smith is a great actress, convincing in loads of very different roles, including Cilla. But as Cilla Black singing, she looked more like Hilda Baker.
 24.
You were doing so well...... #1 rule of Internet BIG-I-AM-ING is get your spelling right.
Up yours fellah.
