1. Great looking bass - iI've molded a couple of their guitars but not played many of their basses. Happy gigging! Also, Mcgiver69, what do you think of the Glockenklang 2 band? I'm thinking of putting the stacked version in my Washburn 1000 series. Cheers, Lorry
2. Cheers buddy! That's the Mm Jazz through the SansAmp and MAG. We miced the cabinet with a D112 and sent some Di signals via a posh preamp thing! We recorded with my friend who is a professional touring and session bassist and he kept complimenting my sound all day, which is the best compliment ever for me. I'm looking forward to trying the Abm out at our next rehearsal!
3. Can't believe I haven't posted yet this year! I got a great bargain this week on a really old (1997?) ABM300 1x15 combo, which sounds fantastic. I came up with a cunning plan to swap the MAG and ABM heads over, leaving me with an ABM head and a MAG combo. I've also changed the preamp valve in attempt to breathe some new life into her. I'll pop some pictures up later this weekend once I've finished the process. I'll be keeping both amps, so I feel a little ashdown collection coming on...
4.
I used to have the PPC212CB, the big closed back one. Sounded great. I'm a huge fan of Orange cabs in general. Mate of mine has a Zilla 2x12 in white with V30s he's selling for £300 if you want me to put you in touch. He's started a filthy metal band and is getting a 4x12 insteada
Very tempting but I'm afraid I don't have the cash at the moment (just bought new PA subs and amp, eek), so the cab has gone on 'not as important' list for the moment =[
5. I'm running an Orange Dual Terror through a Marshall VS412 cab, with my Fender TC-90 and Ltd-Ed. PRS SE Custom 24 It also sounds incredible - The Dual Terror is a great amp and the P90s in the Tele certainly come in to their own. I was jamming with some friends last night and theyre all equally jealous! What do you make of the PPC2x12? I'm currently saving for a V30- loaded Zilla cab.
6. I ordered a 2x10T GB cab in the sales this time last year, for £199 I think. One of the best decisions I ever made - it's a fantastic cab for the money, and I'm sure these ones will be even better!
7. Hi All, My band, Krusty Whiskas will be playing at the Railway Tavern, Tivetshall St. Margarets, tomorrow evening (Saturday 19th October) from 9pm. I haven't posted in here before, but It's very rural (in the middle of nowhere) so i thought I would put a post up in case anyone is local! We play a mix of 50s/60s pop and Rock & Roll, as well as the odd 70s and 80s pop tracks 'rockified'. www.facebook.com/krustywhiskas Thanks for looking, have a great weekend, Lorry
8. Technically its white, yeah?
9. Here goes then! My Washburn 1000 Series. Recently acquired from a friend, but been after her for years! Theres quite a lot of genuine gigging wear and tear, and the bridge has seen better days, but I'm struggling to put it down!
10. The best bit, is that's actually a farm trailer, not an arctic trailer, so it's shorter and wider. It was also REALLY rusty and we had to wipe practically everything down afterwards! The Drum kit is a 1959 Carlton 501 with the rare 'Cracker' snare. My drummer was after some 'vintage sounding cymbals' to differentiate between his two bands. At the time, i was running a community recording studio. We had quite a lot of gear donations, and one day I walked in to find this knackered old drum kit dumped under the stairs. I rang said drum and went 'I've found your cymbals, trouble is theyre attached to a kit'. He cam over to have a look, and I made the centre an offer on the kit, as i happened to have a bit of cash on me. We've then taken each piece apart in turn, cleaned it up, and fitted with new skins. Turns out the cymbals weren't any good (ironically), and neither was the hardware. So, we're running a freshly restored set of vintage shells with modern hardware and Sabian cymbals. We get a lot of compliments on it and the restoration. The snare is waiting upon a new snare wire, and I have a set of Bongo's still to clean up. But yeah, it's a nice old kit with a new lease of life, and suits the band down to the ground!
11. Bit of an empty cavern in here - great to be back though! The trusty Fenders and Lakland are still happily in my stable, however it's the Washburn 1000 Series headless i recently acquired who gets the Lion's share of gigs! Meet Remi (Named after the previous owner's daughter, sticking with my R theme)... These days, the Marshall MB450H & MBC115 were sold on (it was well overdue, they werent that great) and bought an older Ashdown MAG300 head, after threatening to go back for years. Best. Decision. Ever! I tried the new MAG heads, but they just didn't sound as good as a friend's older head, which I had the opportunity to buy. Buy this point, I had also acquired a Genz Benz 210T XB2 cabinet. They make such a great combination it hurts! I haven't got many decent pictures, but this one will do for the moment... (also note the 1959 Carlton drum kit, which is mine also, long story) I've also dropped my pedalboard - I wasn't using half of the stuff on it (it was built for my old rock band). Instead I'm running a SansAmp Programmable DI, and im so so happy with just the basic rig. Last weekend I modified an old microphone flight case to house the SansAmp and also my Pitchblack. There's still room for more accessories yet so watch this space. I've actually been spending my hard earned cash on making Cables and PA gear, which makes a refreshing change! Band these days is Krusty Whiskas, playing classic tracks from the 50s & 60s onwards. Think of it as a rock n roll / 60s pop band that formed in the 80s. Having so much fun! I've since dispensed with the long hair and beard also... Cheers everyone. Always up for chatting and ideas
12. This is Remi, my Washburn 1000 Series. Interesting story actually - My friend bought her from eBay about 10 years ago, as a cheap bass to 'mess about with'. I watched him play in various bands throughout my early musical career and always said that if the bass ever came up for sale, i'd buy it in a heartbeat. Fast forward 7 years and twin girls later, the bass came up for sale, so i chopped his hand off. We're getting along so well...
13. Does a licenced Wasburn 1000 series count here, or will i be beaten to death slowly??
14.
I'm not sure this qualifies a porn, but I think it's pretty and it did stop me mid Telecaster purchase. I've had it about 10 days now and have got it set up just right for me. Having been inspired to play a bit more 6 string I've resurrected my DIY build, 15 watt amp (needed some rewiring as it was mute after years of living in the loft) and the 2 go together really nicely. Now I'm inspired to build a high spec overdrive pedal and I now have one on order.
That looks great! I'm a big fan of P90s - the white looks great with the burst. I'm always surprised at the quality of the Cort instruments when I go to the trade shows!
15. As far as I can work out, the B00 means 2000 - which I recon is bang on, as mine is much older than all the others I have seen.
16. Cheers! I'm going to take some better pictures at some point - It looks so awesome in person, but I cant seem to capture that on film, so to speak!
17. I've just bought a Limited Edition PRS SE Custom 24 Quilt Top for my 21st Birthday. I tried out lots of guitars & basses, but nothing compared to this! Unfortunately, the pictures don't do the top justice!
18. Glad you bought one in the end, looks great
19. I have to disagree with everyont - I've owned a 2000 model for the last 6 years, and it's always going to be 'my bass'. The build quality on mine is top notch, and feels really solid. The simple active circuit works really well for getting that little bit extra out of the already fantastic JB tone. It is a bit heavy, but I use a wide strap and that evens things out. The bass just feels really solid and plays like a dream. I've currently settled on using slightly lighter gauge strings, which suits the neck better! The pickup cover normally divides opinion, but I've left mine on as it adds character and I'm just used to it. I've used mine for everything from pop punk to blues and rock, metal and jazz, so you'll find a suitable sound for whatever you chose to play, when coupled with a good amp choice. I hope you get on as well with yours as I do mine!
20. Lovely and simple - probably more than I need actually, but it's nice knowing the pedals are there. One day I'll get round to buying a proper PSU (currently on daisy chain), and an EBS UniChorus!
21.
My latest P Bass. 037 by gem5819, on Flickr
Looks really similar to mine - I just need the matching Headstock! Great taste
22. Little bit of rig expansion for Christmas! The Marshall half-stack has now gained a GB 210T-XB2! Really fantastic sounding cab - really tight and punchy, with a great top end. Plus, the build quality is fantastic. I'm especially pleased with the edge-mounted carry handles! Please excuse the picture quality...
23.
My 115 Deep cab arrived today
Awesome rig!
24. This is Roxxanne, my Fender Marcus Miller Jazz IV - bought her for my 16th Birthday. It doesn't matter how many basses I own or demo, I'll have a 'phase' with other basses and then always go back to her. Can't imagine me ever letting go - plus I'm always being complimented for it at gigs! Bonus material: Hideously old picture of us a couple of weeks after buying! (This must have been around 2007?)
25.
That is some serious willpower. There's no way I could do that.
Unbearable pain...
