1. Looks like a Les Paul bass. or a derivative. There are Gibson and Epiphone versions.
2. You would have to put this up only a few hours after I'd agreed to buy a Peavey MAX pre-amp.
3.
Hi I've been asked to repair and amp and one of the valves is a 7025. I've told that this is the same as a 12AT7 or a ECC82. Can any of you valve anoracks clarify this or point me in the direction of someone who can? Its actually a guitar amp (Fender Quad reverb..a 4x12 100w combo...bloody hooooge) but does sound rather nice. Cheers Just
I think you'll find that it's the same as a 12AX7/ECC83. have a look at thisor Google 7025.
4. Fantastic. If you can wait until the Bash I will be bringing my Lakland Duck Dunn which has a DS and no I won't swap it or sell it.

Hi....

So here we are. They’ve given me my own bit of Basschat. Over the next couple of days I’ll sort out a price list for my regular cables and some details of the one-offs that I’ve made for people.
6. As we all know this site requires an injection of cash from time to time and I thought that one good way to raise some money would be to have a raffle at the Bash in March. I am opening the prize fund with two of my 1-metre Klotz 4sq.mm. speaker cables. These will be two separate prizes and the winner can choose between Jack-Jack, Speakon-Speakon or Jack-Speakon. Ped has already agreed to get some tickets and to put up a prize. Anyone else care to donate a prize?
7. As far as I know the dbx160 series do not have any remote control functions. I just had alook at the manual of the 160A and it definitely doesn't however an imaginative tech might be able to remote the in/out front panel switch using one of the rear panel jack sockets.
8. It certainly looks like a genuine SR5 body. The routing is correct, especially for the phantom coil. It has the treaded pickup screw inserts. Has anyone posted this on the EBMM Forum for comment? But then again it's Malaysia......

BASS BASH MARCH 2008

I should be able to come. I'll bring the DJ4 with Fralins to compare with your DJ4 Al. I will also bring the Duck Dunn Dark Star. Stingray Status 5 with Nordstrand anyone? Any requests? The question is what amp. Should I bring the BFC?
10. It's not about paying over the odds, it's all about how far out of adjustment it is and whether you want a very personal service. If it's a simple set-up then why not learn to do it yourself and save your money. It's not difficult. I now set all of mine up now however if there is a difficult problem then I take it to Joe. For example when I bought a brand new Bongo 5 from the USA it arrived with a banana shaped neck and uneven frets. There was no way I could do anything with it so I took it to Joe. He put it in his jig and started completely from scratch and did a total set-up which included leveling the frets, truss-rod, neck, string height and finally a personal adjustment having analysed my playing style, all included in the standard set-up price. It was magic to play and still was when I sold it on to another Forum member.
11. Joe is excellent. He's well respected and trusted by a large number of my fellow musicians in the area, both semi-pro and professional. As far as cost goes, you get what you pay for. I won't let anyone else touch my instruments.
12. Max Weinberg

SX Precision

Nice one Paul. Have you had the bill for the Duty and VAT yet?
15.
Is it a 5 String or 4 String pick-up? Cheers, Stuart
MM Sterling is 4-string. I'll post some pix later.
16. The complete and genuine MM bits but without the coil switching switch. I bought these on ebay thinking the pre-amp would fit my SR5 but it didn't. £70 posted, which is less than I paid.
17. I am so so tempted. Have a bump.
18.
That's a pity Dave - I wish I could be there but sadly I can't. Good luck finding a new band.
Thanks Alan, as they say "one door closes and another one opens". It looks like we are going to put the original Micky Kemp Band back together again for a few gigs. Everyone is up for it and the first is on 29th February. We've played together once since the band split in 2002 and there will be no rehearsal, we're just going to go for it. Seat-of-the-pants playing for 2+ hours. Great.
19. Tonight.......and then that's it.
20.
I am looking to get a speaker cover for a 4x10.. Where's the best place to look.? Any ideas on the best deals. Garry
I had a cover made for my Epi UL310 by Cover-overCovers. Custom made - I just sent them a dimensioned sketch. Excellent quality, reasonable price
21. Here are some more colours This was taken a while back. The DD on the eleft now has a White pearl scratch plate like the DJ4. The DJ5 now has a black scratch plate.
22.
The name - WEM is so evocative of my early days. We used to gig with a 100 watt WEM PA!!! Love the Epi stuff but I wouldn't like to tote that Trace cab Dave
I would like to find a WEM ER100 to complete the set. The Trace is purely for outdoor festivals when I need to provide a bullet-proof bass amp for the communal backline. There is usually plenty of muscle to move it.
23. After 3 years or so Second Time Around have decided to call it a day and part as friends. Our final gig is this Friday, 11th January at The Crown, Knaphill, nr Woking in Surrey. In some respects it's a shame as we were a very tight band and played well together but the motivation and spark has gone so we have decided to do the right thing before things degenerate. Any BCers in the locality are most welcome. This now puts me in the position of looking for new band. Hey-ho. That's life.
24. Tools for the job - vintage, modern and loud. SC200 is not here as it is undergoing a rebuild.
