1. Are you following me? DJ4 and DD, though each to different specs. One day we'll do an A/B and see what the differences are. Seriously though they are great basses. Lovely necks. DD is only available in CAR. My DD now has Wizard 64 Classic pick-up. I tried a Thumper but didn't like the sound. May go back to it later when the new rig is all together.

3. Reunion gig for band that played together 2000-2002. Not played together since 2002 apart from a single gig 20-months ago. Local pub. Great crowd. Pub manager said usually the space in front of the band is empty and the rest of the bar is full. For us it was the other way round. Much singing and dancing. No prior rehearsal. Played 3-hours without a break. 8;30pm til 11:30pm Only had an outline set list and we didn't keep to that. Mix of originals, covers and bar anthems. Just goes to show adrenaline works. No egos, no pretentions. None of us have lost it so it looks like we'll be doing some more very soon.
4. J, J all the way. Oh and a Lakland, not a Fender.
5.
On the bass side, I have several Sei basses...
You also once owned a Epifani UL502 which I purchased from you via the well known auction site.
6. Dr.Dave had one. It got stolen so he made himself a copy (The famous SkipCab). This could be his stolen one or the SkipCab. I suggest you ask him for his opinions on it.

Bass preamps?

I have a Peavey MAX pre-amp which I could be persuaded to part with. It's effectively the pre-amp section of the much-rated T-MAX bass amp. 1U rack mounting, 2 channels (valve and solid state with separate EQs, either channel or blend) cross-over, etc, etc. Nice bit of kit. Download the manual here
8. Thanks for the advice. A Hercules is flying in for me.
9.
Cheers, would it be possible to make me a cable with a 1/8" jack to do the job? I do have a little mixer but just want something simple for practice, my iAmp makes it very easy as it has a 1/8" input with level control.
I'll pm you this evening.

11.
I'm going to try it in my Fender P-Bass first, you can have it back if I don't keep it in there Ade
The only reason I sold it was so it could go back into the BG where it came from and make it back to a P. I sincerely hope it doesn't end up on eBay.
12. I need to buy one. Any recommendations as to which are good quality and value, and which to avoid?
13. Seeing as you are not putting it back to original are you going to sell me back the Lindy Fralin?
14. Time for a bump. It works really well wired to 6-ohms. Any solid-state head or power-amp which is specified to deliver 500/600 watts into 4-ohms can really make it shift some air and it's loud even with a 100-watt valve head. I need to make some space in the garage for the incoming AD200B/NV610

MKB Reunion Gig

Six years after disbanding and going their separate musical ways, MKB, the original Micky Kemp Band, are reforming to play this one-off gig for old times sake. "We just fancied getting back together and playing some of the early Micky Kemp compositions as well as a few covers from "The Boss", Steve Earle, Johnny Cash, etc. We did it about 18-months ago and since then people keep asking when we'll do it again, so this is it. If the weather is fine then we'll be out in the garden. A fun night and a great start to the Bank Holiday weekend." MKB comprises Micky Kemp - guitar and vocals, Ronnie Nutt - drums and vocals, Frankie Perri - lead guitar and vocals, Dave Polglaze - bass guitar and vocals, Nick Thurston - keyboard and guitar. Where: Malborough Head, The Woolmead, Farnham When: Friday 2nd May 2008 Time: 8:30pm til late
16. When I started there were no tutors and only one book, by Chas McDevitt and Josephine Douglas. That got me playing basic scales and the rest was by listening/playing along to records and watching/listening to other bass players. 35 years later I took some lessons. Now I just have therapy.
17.
wow this is all good news to me does anyone happen to know what cabs would sound best with it?
The 1999/2000 brochure shows it with matching 1248H 4x12-inch and a 1528 2x15-inch, both in matching green carpet. There was also a matching 1084, 8x10-inch. Personally I think it would be great with a BFC.
18.
It'd be a bit of a weird ohm thing though, how would that work a 5.3 and an 8, it's not something I'm very good at.
It could only work if you had an amp that will work down to 2-ohms or you use a 2-channel power amp with the UL115 on one channel and the UL310 on the other. That's one of the reasons I've sold my UL310. You could use a 16-ohm cab with a UL310 but they are a touch rare these days. As a single cab solution it is one of the best.
19. Position yourself so you can watch the kick drum pedal. It's a lot easier than trying to hear it through the noise of guitars, etc. I suspect that you are hearing guitar parts and not the bass parts when listening to tracks.
20. What a nice chap. Bought my black Lakland DJ5 and got his bass-playing father to drive him all the way round London to collect it.
21. Walbassist used a Peavey DPC1400X digital power amp with his Epi Quest. 1U high, excellent spec
