1.
Is this Lakland DD P bass a Skyline or a USA made one? I'm just wondering whether to go 4 a DD skyline or not??????? Differences?
Mines a Skyline. I can't fault it, so I couldn't justify paying a lot more and waiting 9-months for a US made one that might be marginally better. 2. Hi Jon Welcome to the West Surrey Chapter of BC.
  3. .....so you left the Badass on it then?
  4.
Cheers obbm, the Crown manual says it has a maximum input gain of 22 dbu and the Boss puts out -10 to +4 dbu. It doesn't look good.
Looking at the Crown spec I'm not so sure. You may just have enough drive. Try it and see.
  5.
I would like to use my Boss GT6B as a preamp to drive My Crown XTi 1000 power amp but I 'm not sure what type of cable to use. The GT6B has an XLR output for balanced connection and the Crown has an XLR input, can I use a microphone cable? Can anyone tell me the best way to link the two together. Cheers Steve.
An XLR to XLR mic cable should be fine as long as the XLR output level from the Boss is high enough to drive the amp. You can do no damage by trying it.

    BASS BASH MARCH 2008
You guys are great!!! lol.. big smiles! Thanks, I'd love to try the li'l Epi 1x12.. and salivate over the Overwaters and Wals!
I'm bringing my UL112 and T112NYC as usual.
  7.
Damn, thats not what i wanted to hear ;-) Did you get it with the Fralin pup in it or did you swap it out?
Neither. This one was factory made with the Dark Star. It's never been drilled to take a Fralin or any other P pickup.

  9. Lovely bass. Great tone, Superb neck. Much lighter than my '78 P I've never tried a JO but I suspect that it's probably the same neck. It's certainly not a DJ4 neck. I'm temped to get a regular DD scratch plate and pop a Wizard Thumper in it and see what happens.
  10.
...there was a fair bit of relief in the neck so wasn't very suitable for my tastes..
Mine was the same and there is no way to adjust it other than by changing strings I guess.
  11. I had one that I bought from the USA. I sold it to CK who sold it on again. Having had an SR5 with a Status neck for several years I agree with dlloyd that it's a better option.
  12. This looks like a pretty good deal. http://www.audiorelief.co.uk/shop/product_...products_id=196 They also do a wide range of hearing protection products. I've always had good prompt service.
  13.
Does that mean I'd be able to link the cabs together and use my current amp?
You are in a Catch 22 situation with that RA300 because you can either have: 300-watts in 8-ohms with the amp bridged, 90-watts 8-ohms per channel 150-watts into 4-ohms per channel. You can't run the 310 in bridged You can run one 112 in bridged. 2 x 112 = 4-ohms so you can't run bridged. You would have to run one on each channel but that would give max power of 90-watts to each speaker. Sorry to say but the limiting factor is the RA300 power amp. I am fortunate in that both the Epi UL502 amp and the Ashdown ABM-500 will both support loads down to 4-ohms so I can use one or two 112s or the UL310 with either.
  14.
To be honest Dave I'm starting to wonder if I really need the 310 at all - I know it's a great cab but I seem to be doing fine with my 112 set up, maybe just got a bit carried away I'll have to look into the alternative power amp options and see what the financial implications are... Cheers John
Well I've used my UL310 once in the past 18-months. I just keep lending it to Paul Geary, however I won't sell it because I never know what's around the corner. If you want a bit more oomph then get another 112. A T112NYC as they have a lot of bottom end aand are 8-ohms. Are you coming to the Bash?
  15.
My intention was to run either the 310 on it's own or with the 112 but from what you're saying this is neither a desirable or workable solution as things currently stand.
You really won't need another cab with the UL310. There was a guy on TB who tried a pair but gave up as he reckoned that one was more than enough. I use the UL310 on its own or a pair of 112s, which has smaller footprint. I suggest you find an alternative powr amp to go the best out of the UL310.
  16.
Hey guys... Here we go with an Ohms question for all you clever mathematical folk... I'm currently running a UL112 - 300watts @ 8Ohms from my Alesis RA300 - 300watts RMS @ 8Ohms, which seems to make perfect sense to me, however I'm contemplating a deal to bring a UL310 into the mix, like this... (new rig?) I understand that these cabs are a 5.3 Ohms, so the first question is, if I run the UL310 and the UL112 as a stack, connecting the amp to the 112 and the the 112 to the 310, what's the likely outcome in terms of power output and amp efficiency? Second question is, can I run just the UL310 from my power amp without any issues, if so what will the power output be if I do? Thanks in advance, I'm aware I've still got a lot to learn re the separate amp/cab route John
John Are you running your RA300 in bridged mode? If so then you must not use the UL310 and UL112 together as the combined impedance will be too low at 3.2ohms and the amp will overheat and most certainly expire. Neither can you run the UL310 from the RA300 in bridged mode for the same reason. The lowest impedance that it will handle in bridged mode is 8-ohms. The only way you could run both cabs is to use the two channels of the RA300 separately with one speaker on each and parallel up the inputs so the pre-amp signal goes to both channels. The will be a difference in sond levels as the speaker sensitivities are different and the amp power outputs will be different for the different speakers. 90-watts in 8-ohms and probably 120-watts into the 5.3 ohms. This can be balanced by the amp output controls.. I've been down this road and found that there was no useful purpose in running a 112 with the 310. The 310 is just fine on its own. I used a QSC PLX1602 to drive my UL310 - QSC amps can handle a 4-ohm load in bridged.
  17. I am now able to supply cables suitable for use with GK Bi-amp systems. They use the 4-core version of the excellent Klotz 4-sq.mm. cable and are fitted with 4-pole Neutrik Speakons. I can do any length and as an example the BC price for a 1-metre cable is £18.00 plus £3.00 postage.
That HAS to come. It may make my V-Type combos a little surplus to requirements, esp if Ped brings his too. There we go, bring the REAL Trace valve amps and make me feel inadequate!!
Are you going to bring your Retroactive ?
  20. Very interesting Steve. Have a browse here and here Also have a browse though here I have a WEM Starfinder 100 2x15-inch cabinet. I'm looking for for an ER100 or a PA100 for it.
  21. If it is a Framus Star Bass then it's the small body short scale version, not what Bill Wyman played. This was my 1963 Framus Star Bass extracted from the 1964 band picture

    BASS BASH MARCH 2008
I played your Stealth 5 on Saturday Dave - never thought I'd get Status GAS but that was a lovely bass.
Indeed it was/is. A superb piece of engineering and a pleasure to play but I didn't get on with the tone, however I love the sound and feel of the Status necked Stingray 5 that's why I'd like to try a Series 2 Classic.

    BASS BASH MARCH 2008

Is anyone bringing, or could they bring, a Status Series 2 Classic headless throughneck 4-string. I'm getting itchy fingers for another Status.
  24. Our drummer departed at beginning of January, which escalated a crisis and as a result we decided to split the band. We had two remaining dates to fill, the second of which was last night in Haslemere. For both of these we used a drummer who plays in another band with the lead guitarist and all credit to him picking up the nuances of the set list very quickly. All the tensions of the last few weeks had gone, we were all very relaxed and had a great night. The place was rocking. Dancing on the tables, etc. After we'd finished friends kept saying you mustn't pack it in so I don't think we will now.
