1.
My well-mojo'd preEB Frankenray is here: I've owned three cutlasses too.
That's what I'm talking about.
  2. You need to get a Lollar back in there my friend.
  3. My apologies too. Some folk don't mind a bit of a banter bump but I'll know better in future. Is it an Encore neck?

    MM SUB 5

I didn't mind the finish on mine one bit - in fact I found it down right comfortable on my forearm. But to describe it as bombproof I think is a bit of a misnomer though (I've heard it said a few times). Yes it is hard wearing and you can't get scratches on it but you can chip it and you can wear though it quite easily just by pulling the strings through the bridge at the wrong angle at string change time - the good news it that a bit of black (in my case) marker pen fixed it up just fine. I think SUB5s go for around £450 these days.
  5.
Could be. I use it as an expletive and also as a term of endearment for a loved one.
It could be what a tramp has in his sandwich.
  6.
Props to Ou7shined for the Serenity soundtrack reference! Browncoats forever /salute I'd have to go with "We All Die Young" from the Rock Star soundtrack
Cheers. *salute* It is a great wee track. I like the sense of optimism it leaves you with at the end. One other thing. I mentioned this a while ago to my Mrs.. When I get my songs played, I want them played on my hi-fi. The ones in the places where they have these ceremonies are rubbish. She rolled her eyes... but capitulated.
  7.
You could always have your P/J bass routed to take a MM style pickup, assuming it's got a pickguard. You can use a pickguard to cover all kinds of horrors. If you don't like it, you can probably put it back as it was easy enough too... Eude
Good call.
  8.
Its there for me using FF7. Settings/Email & Password.
Yep same here on the dreaded IE8 so it must be working.
  9.
Silent Bass SLB100 Brand New Electric Double Bass. Brought but never used! A1 Perfect condition with a box, stand also available. Need to be seen to be believed. Retails at £2,800. I am looking for £2200 ONO for a quick sale. Email me for further details: [email protected]
Welcome to the forum Karl. You'r second sentence is wise beyond your ken.
  10. One could argue that the good old PJ set up is what you are describing. But what you are getting at could be easily achieved by a wee bit of jiggery-pokery on any HH bass - a G&L L-2000 for example.

    MM SUB 5
Mmmmm, I'm tempted by a SUB 5 to get me into MMs. How much is it a story of Squier and Fender, Rockbass and Warwick? I always got the impression that SUBs are decent instruments, but do they really pale in comparison to their twice-the-price EBMM equivalents?
The SUB5 is more than decent... some put it above the MM5 ... if you can handle the finish. It's been said more than once that the SUB5 is the MM5 we never got because the MM5 is actually a Sterling5. The SUB4s hold their own too against the MM4s and again it's more to do with the "unique" textured finish and finishing touches - painted neck, plain (unembossed) hardware.
  12.
Ok... Does this link to an external site open in a new window/tab? How about this link to another basschat page? For me the first always opens up in a new window or tab irrespective of the browser used. The second always opens in the same window/tab. Edit: Looks like something to do with the way that the forum handles links because the link to the external site no longer announces the fact in the status bar that it will open a new window or tab even though it does.
Yep same results for me too. You have the good science.
  13.
Links within the Basschat site no longer open in a new window or tab on Mac browsers too. Is that your problem or is IE8 opening all links (including those to other sites) in the same window/tab. I too would prefer all links to open in a new Window or Tab.
It works fine for me in other sites/forums, just not here any more.
  14. I'm still seeing lots of IE8 compatability issues and I'm just wondering if this is one of them or is any one else experiencing this since the change... When I click on links or pics in posts rather than opening a new tab (as is my browser's default setting) on BC it just opens the link in the same page. I have the habbit of closing windows when I'm done with them rather than navigating backwards and 9 times out of 10 I loose my page and have to try and find it again from my emails or whatever. Can this be switched back to the way it was? - eg. links open in new window/tab.
  15. +1 I never get the "I would post but I don't have any cardboard" line - Well go and get some you lazy fecker the stuff's everywhere. I've even knocked a patchwork of smaller boxes together to post basses and cabs in when I've had nothing suitable to hand, and had the same done in return. And as for the courier, you don't even have to leave you house to sort this out, so why are people still reticent to ship stuff? I guess for first timers it may appear daunting. I dunno.
  16. Wow you've raise the nut and loosened the tr and you still can't get it. Can you give us a pic looking down the neck showing the action and relief?
  17. Hmm does sound dodge, right enough. Try a couple more turns and give the neck a wee helpful nudge in the right direction as you do it.
  18. Why do you think your tr is shot?
  19.
I don't like jazzes even slightly but this is a cracker of a bass
I know what you mean. I find that p/g style rather easy on the eye too.
  20.
I'm guessing where it says active EQ that it's active.
And the battery compartment on the rear is another clue.
  21.
ROTFLMAO - I would so love to hear someone say that in parliament...
I have a 5 year old daughter, that brand of highbrow rhetoric comes natural to me.
  22.
Some of you must be desperate for gigs
Is that the forum equivalent of packing up your gear and doing one?
  23.
Playing a semitone down or what brushers he users is just daft you don't care how he does it just so long has the painter does a good job, respects your property and doesn't P off the neighbours...
Yeah it is daft but it was you that said it was like getting the painters in and them having to do everything that the guy who's house it was getting painted told them to do because he was paying them. Now you're saying as long as the job gets done and the neighbours are cool then the landlord (guy who's getting his house painted) shouldn't care what they do. Pick a side Mr shouty pants. edit : what colour is this pub we're talking about anyway? I'm getting lost.
