1.
Looks like the current majority is to totally deactivate it. I'll admit that would certainly create less problems for us.
It still looks to me like the current majority want to keep it (33+38 to keep 70 to deactivate) but I can't be bothered with this poll and how I "interpret it" any more. I wish now I'd just voted to get rid of it entirely instead of voting to have a "good karma" button built into the forum like it was before.
 2.
what do we think it is? the amount of black in the sunburst reminds me of japcrap ply bodies.
Yep looks like ply.
 3. Ah sh!t. How did it get to be morning already. Last thing I remember was I switched on my PS3 about 21:00.
 4. I'm confused. It has "a new maple neck"... but managed to keep it's serial number? It goes deeper... he says it's a '73 bass but if you put the serial into a Fender serial tracker it comes up as a '94-5.
 5.
I'd say that you are misreading it with a bias to a particular view. You might as well say that the first and the third are the same because they are both against negs but that would also be a biased reading.
How am I misreading the options? The first two options begin (and I quote) "Keep the reputation system but..." while the last one is "Deactivate the reputation system...". A & B are clearly the same option differentiated by a sub-proviso while option C is clearly their absolute antithesis. A & C can't be the same - C is against the use of Reputation System as a whole, while A is in favour of the system but against one of it's features. And (again) B is also in favour of the system but is not against either of the features. I do see how it can at first look unfair but the wording clearly stipulates that it is a vote to keep, or not to keep... but if kept there is a further condition to the choice.
 6.
Aherm. Works the same with a woman too. And yes, of course you're correct. However, you do get a glimpse of what each person is like from the way they write - it may take a little while, but even your most monosyllabic posts contribute to creating an image of you for those who take the time to notice. I am a member of several local forums, and we have regular real life meetups, and my impressions of each poster's character have been relatively correct so far. It's harder to imagine someone's physical aspect (unless they provide a photo), but sometimes you can sort of guess that too!
Spot on. Like.
 7. I still think it's for the logo.
 8.
But the top two are in favour of different things so can't be conflated.
Not so. They are both in favour of the "like" option. The only division between those voting A & B is that the B voters are in favour of "dislike" too.
 9. I'm quite surprised that the "abolish it completely" vote is winning thus far. I voted to keep the "likes"... because it's nice to be nice.
 10.
Just curious but if it's a class D amp, why is it the size of a suitacse ?
So the logo can fit on.
 11. Ach just take it anyway. The bash is kind of split in 2 parts you've got the actual bash on Sunday but on the Saturday night we go back to the cottages for a much less formal après-ruby-murray bevy where you can break out any other gear you might not necessarily want to show off on the Sunday.
 12.
mm, this may sound silly, but have you priced up the price of the new truss rod etc? As I thought they were quite expensive for the OLP/MM necks? might be worth checking this out before you dive in........
Stewmac do them for about £15 + shipping.
 13. I reported back my finding and made a cheeky reference to a drop C (CGCFAD) tuning update. Mike replied that my "feature request has been noted". Fingers crossed.
 14.
don't make me come up there!!!
No double entendre intended eh.
serious note - cheers for the heads up about the potential spare seat
No probs mate. If you need picking up and there's room we'll sort something out. How much gear are you likely to be taking?
 15. I got my reply from Mike Nickel at TC Electronic about 15 miniutes ago. Done the update.... and all is well. Nice one.
 16.
Back to the repair idea. Presumably I only need to separate the Maple veneer from the fretboard and can leave the rest attached to the headstock?
I can't see how you can do that.
Will a steam iron hurt the lacquer?
Well too much heat will kill it for sure and if you get steam trapped under the lacquer then that is bad news too.
 17.
2 bolt neck that's a new one.
Should be alright though. I mean you're only going to be able to fit 2 strings to it with the amount of sideways rake the neck has.
 18. [sub]It's doable yes, by simply bypassing the active circuit. However some pups are designed to be active only and you may end up with a very quiet bass. In which case you will have to change your pups for some passive ones. Call it an upgrade. [/sub]
 19. [sup]There have been a few floating about this year. Stick an ad in the wanted section here and see if you can flush one out.[/sup]
 20.
LOL, best not!
21. If you definitly have it in phase with the other pup then work out where it is earthed and copy that.
 22. Looks too clean to be unfinished. Stick a drop of water or white spirit on it. If it disappears then it's unfinished. Looks like you have a maple veneer on the headstock... it's going to be a problem. You are probably going to have to heat it off too.
 23.
Thanks for the quick reply. I may have to resort to the iron technique. Unless there is a way to unscrew the thing from the bust end. It's not to deep in but very difficult to get a purchase on.
I doubt it. They are built in before the neck and fingerboard are glued together.
The fingerboard is maple but unfinished so probably no need to sand. Unfortunately the head end is varnished into the headstock. How would I prevent cracking the varnish when the board comes off??
Ah ok, I've never seen an OLP with an unfinished neck (as standard). As for the headstock end, just carefully sand the areas that join back to the wood - a barrel sander tip in a Dremel would be handy for this. Or if you have a good eye and steady hand you may be able to score a line with a sharp blade and keep scoring it until you're through the finish... regardless, be prepared to have to lacquer the neck one you're done anyway.
 24.
I'll find out when it gets here, I guess but looking at these pics it looks pretty normal https://picasaweb.go...400730331929746 I have enlarged some of those shots and the neck pocket shows no issues.
Looks fine Fran. Just don't let Gareth (MM20) see it.
 25. It might be worth just getting a different neck for it mate. I'm sure that a luthier could do it but the costs will exceed the value of the neck. That being said, with nothing to lose, you could have a bash at removing the fingerboard yourself (heat it off with an iron - google it). If it is a maple fingerboard then I suggest you sand off the finish where it joins the main part of the neck on either side to allow for it to expand neatly and come away from the body.
