1. Price includes UK delivery. BUMP!
2. This is a 50's re-issue guard. It didn't specify any particular country of origin when I still had the Fender packaging. In fact I have a catalogue featuring the American Vintage series and there is no cut out for truss rod on any Precision.
3. Ive played a couple of VM and CV basses and prefer the CV models. The P basses are excellent value.
4. That looks the bollocks!
5. Had a thought. Is it possible to convert my existing wiring control plate to using solderless terminals so I can switch between original and stack version?
6. Price includes delivery. Bump.
7. Ha! Very funny. I am going to take the electrics out but the exposed wood on the body will have to be sealed with some kind of primer.
8. Is it possible to seal what's on the bass so I can paint over it?
9. Will think about splitting. I have another guard fitted on a Fender P MIJ and only a few holes didnt line up but its all under the guard anyway.
10. I did use the green Nitromors to no effect. Is the Craftsman strength more like the original stuff?
11. I decided to strip the paint from my 1994 Fender Jazz MIJ. I once used paint-stripper on a Musicmaster and it worked a treat so I attempted the same only to discover the new recipe in modern stripper is useless. I cant imagine trying to rub the bass down using sandpaper. I dont have the skills, so I'm now thinking of trying to prep the bass for a respray. Can knowedgeable peeps out there please tell me how I can make this work? I have so far tried to leave the pickups and wiring in place but im going to have to remove them and hope I can rewire them myself as Im a complete novice. Bass was a poor relic Olympic White. Black or Sonic Blue would be nice in the future. Here are some pics of its current status.
12. Black, ltd edition lefty Stingray from the Indonesian factory but set up in the States before shipping. Great bass with all the expected Stingray tones. Bass in great nick apart from a small blemish on headstock. Comes with bespoke gigbag. currently strung with roundwounds and included are a set of lightly tested ernie ball flats and an ernie ball strap.
13. Selling this for a friend who's owned it from new. He plays keyboards and has downsized to a 2x12 setup. One of the speakers has been replaced so I think one will be a JBL and the other a Celestion. Dimrnsions are: HEIGHT 45", WIDTH 30" (with castors removed), DEPTH 11.75" He uses this at home at the moment with a Fender Rhodes and it sounds fab. Offers welcome. Collection only or possible deliver within 30 mile radius. Cab is located in N. Ayrshire, West of Scotland.
14. Gold Fender anodised single-ply, 10 hole pickguard and a set of Fender chrome pickup and bridge covers for sale. Part of a project that never materialised.
15. In near perfect condition with roqsolid covers. I have only used it at home. Selling as I plan to downsize further to a small combo. Have all original packaging so can post within UK.
16. Im not very gifted with machinery so its either sandpaper or I pay someone to to do the refin for me.
17.
What model is your instrument?
Its a fender jazz mij in olympic white made around 1994.
18.
You can get it via ebay, that's where I got mine from mate. Soak it onto a rag and it simply wipes off - like a girl removing her Remember, it only works on nitrocellulose lacquer finishes - NOT on poly or acrylic finishes.
I'm a philistine. How would I tell the finish used? Actually, the bass has also been light sanded a bit, making it even harder to know now.
19. Where would someone get cellulose thinners that strip the paint like that? I recently tried using nitromors and it did absolutely nothing.
20. One of the most sought-after stolen basses has to be James Jamerson's "funk machine' '62 P bass. You would imagine this popping up again by now. Or how about Macca's gold Hofner? Can't be difficult to spot that? Jaco's and these other guys' bass-playing talents will outlive any instrument they used.
21. I play better on an unlined fretless than a lined one. Maybe its because the position markers on a fretless ARE the actual note. Dunno, but my vibrato is more accurate on a blank neck.
22. I would love it but I have to shift a bass or two first.
23. Does a bass like that Vigier come with every shirt purchase?
24.
Did Jaco own the bass from brand new?
No, it's a '62 and he bought it in the early 70's already converted as a fretless and then had it fixed up to his preference. He says it was already beat up when he got it. He smashed it on stage while playing with John McLaughlin. A luthier rebuilt it, finishing it with a veneer. I prefer his '60 fretted jazz which some old dude now owns. Im surprised Fender don't want to buy it for their museum or ask for access to measure/photograph it for a more accurate Custom Shop replica.
