1. Selling this for a friend who's owned it from new. He plays keyboards and has downsized to a 2x12 setup. One of the speakers has been replaced so I think one will be a JBL and the other a Celestion. Dimrnsions are: HEIGHT 45", WIDTH 30" (with castors removed), DEPTH 11.75" He uses this at home at the moment with a Fender Rhodes and it sounds fab. Offers welcome. Collection only or possible deliver within 30 mile radius. Cab is located in N. Ayrshire, West of Scotland.
2. Gold Fender anodised single-ply, 10 hole pickguard and a set of Fender chrome pickup and bridge covers for sale. Part of a project that never materialised.
3. In near perfect condition with roqsolid covers. I have only used it at home. Selling as I plan to downsize further to a small combo. Have all original packaging so can post within UK.
4. Im not very gifted with machinery so its either sandpaper or I pay someone to to do the refin for me.
5.
What model is your instrument?
Its a fender jazz mij in olympic white made around 1994.
6.
You can get it via ebay, that's where I got mine from mate. Soak it onto a rag and it simply wipes off - like a girl removing her Remember, it only works on nitrocellulose lacquer finishes - NOT on poly or acrylic finishes.
I'm a philistine. How would I tell the finish used? Actually, the bass has also been light sanded a bit, making it even harder to know now.
7. Where would someone get cellulose thinners that strip the paint like that? I recently tried using nitromors and it did absolutely nothing.
8. One of the most sought-after stolen basses has to be James Jamerson's "funk machine' '62 P bass. You would imagine this popping up again by now. Or how about Macca's gold Hofner? Can't be difficult to spot that? Jaco's and these other guys' bass-playing talents will outlive any instrument they used.
9. I play better on an unlined fretless than a lined one. Maybe its because the position markers on a fretless ARE the actual note. Dunno, but my vibrato is more accurate on a blank neck.
10. I would love it but I have to shift a bass or two first.
11. Does a bass like that Vigier come with every shirt purchase?
12.
Did Jaco own the bass from brand new?
No, it's a '62 and he bought it in the early 70's already converted as a fretless and then had it fixed up to his preference. He says it was already beat up when he got it. He smashed it on stage while playing with John McLaughlin. A luthier rebuilt it, finishing it with a veneer. I prefer his '60 fretted jazz which some old dude now owns. Im surprised Fender don't want to buy it for their museum or ask for access to measure/photograph it for a more accurate Custom Shop replica.
13. My brother was looking at this but prefers a proper case for his basses. Do the hard-shell cases made for the Synapse model available via Thomann fit the L2 and XL2?
14. Looks real nice. Good luck with the sale.
15. I went one step further. I put a righty anodised guard onto my lefty mij. Because its single-ply I just flipped it over. Only a couple of small mis-alignments.
16. Could this technique be used to remove surface scratches from a Steinberger?
17. Beautiful looking bass and photographs too. Must resist......
18.
Thanx. We're all entitled to our views on pricing but maybe not on a sale thread. No hard feelings.
Absolutely not. Totally forgot it was a sale thread I was babbling in.
19. Well, wasn't me guv'nor.
20. I have a black Ray34 but would prefer the smaller SB14 model but they don't make a lefty model.
21. For a truly 'green' experience, never run it above 40°c. Should still be plenty loud.
