Keeping it short, there are two things you'll 'need' for doing this. The first is an interface between the instrument and the laptop, the second is a Digital Audio Workstation (abbreviated to 'DAW'...); a programme that'll take what comes through the interface and record it onto your hard disk. Taking the interface first, have a look at this one, to give you some idea; it's a popular one which will do the job very well... Scarlett 2i2 Interface ... Once you've looked at that one, have a look at similar ones and choose one that suits you and your pocket. For a DAW, have a look at this one ... Reaper DAW ... Similarly, when you've read through that, look at others of the same sort and see if you're still inspired. You may have other questions once you've done that, but you'll get answers here. There is an excellent '101' guide in the Recording section of the Forum, here ... The Beginner's Guide to Home Recording ...which is recommended reading. Detail stuff, such as cables for connecting, which connection system (USB, Thunderbolt, other tripe...) will be dealt with as and when the situation calls for it. There, short enough..? In France, the retail inspectors would issue warnings, then fines, if prices were not correctly displayed on the goods, for shoes, food, instruments, cameras, toys... Everything has to have its price displayed. I suppose the commercial conditions are similar, so why should this not be practised in the UK..?

I'll tune the 'A' first, then tune the others to that ('E', 'D', 'G', then 'B' if the fiver, and lastly 'C' if the sixer...). I'll tune my drums differently, though. Bass drum first, if starting from scratch, then low to high toms, and snare lastly.

Not sure that I qualify, really (I'm a drummer...), but anyway... I'm afraid that, at first listen-through, I didn't adhere, despite the obvious virtuosity and excellent production. It's not 'light listening', so one probably has to be in a particular receptive mood for this. Sorry, but that's not my current state; that's no fault of your music. I'll not dwell, then, on a full-out blow-by-blow resumé (it wouldn't be fair...), but I would encourage others to give it some time, preferably through a decent sound system, as there's a lot in there. No qualms, then, with the execution, and just a tiny niggle with the fading in of each track. I couldn't find a common thread through the works, but, again, that's probably down to me, rather than the opus. I'll note this, just the same, and may well come back to it in the future. If I had any comparison to offer, I'd liken the ilk to Magma, or even shades of Shakti (both of whom I greatly admire, so take that as a high compliment...). Well done for getting such rich work out to be listened to, and wishing you and your partners a merited success. Good Stuff, but I've not been able to take it in as it deserves. Thanks for sharing.

Both sets of speakers are highly worthy, with the advantage of being self-powered for the monitors, so no amp required. The Good Lady will be happy, too, as would anyone with such a set-up. No major issues; full ahead both, cap'n.

What pieces are you rehearsing..? You never know; maybe someone here could give some advice as to how best retain them, and save you some precious time..? Just sayin'; hope this helps.

They look to be just fine, to me (Disclaimer: non-expert...). My monitors are bigger than that, and placed at an arms-length from my armchair. No chance of getting 'control room' fidelity, naturally, but a welcome change from recording and mixing with headphones. I wouldn't bother trying to emulate 'ideal' conditions, just accept the limitations of your environment and crack on. Just my tuppence-worth; hope this helps.

I could even imagine there being a security issue with the wearing of one of these. I understand that the bullets are fake (they are fake, aren't they..?), but in modern times, going to public places with paraphernalia of the sort seems, to me, to be a bit too close to provocation. Still, if one is 'into' strip searches, why not..?

Follow-up, having installed and tried 'em... No, I'll not be keeping these. The individual sounds are good enough, but there is very little flexibility; you hit the drum and it goes 'Thwack', and that's it. For bashing out a rudimentary beat, it works, but it's not very 'tweakable', and the interface (what one sees on screen...) is very primitive indeed, compared to other systems. It might have had some success ten years ago, if only for the sounds (at the time...), but it really doesn't 'cut the mustard' these days, for me at least. OK, it's for free to download, so doesn't deserve to be spat at, but I'm not inspired to go further and invest when there are so many more with more appealing features. A 'noobie' in the Market, so maybe there'll be further developments, and a better Mk II..? Hope this helps.

This is the exact quote from your first post here. It doesn't read 'I won't go there', or 'I wouldn't go there', it reads 'Don't go there', with no explanation as to why. Do you not recognise that that's not the way to give helpful advice to folks..? You seem surprised that this has been picked up, by Mods. I'm disappointed that someone usually so careful in musical matters should be so lax in this. Some reflection needed, maybe..? PS: having Mods on 'Ignore' is not conducive to healthy participation, either. We (the Mods...) do this for your, and everyone else's, benefit, freely. Hmm... Another disappointment.
