1. Sometimes used to happen with mine as well. I just used to move it about and it would usually stop. Maybe put some tape over the exposed metal bits or some foam as you suggest?
2. I used to own one and this looks kosher to me - the "xx-US" models have the USA pickups in.

4. I didn't use a graphite spray - I found an internet vid showing the stuff and and it was registering 150 ohms, great for dissipative electrostatic stuff, but the copper foil comes in at 0 ohms so I used the foil I had instead, rather than apply multiple layers of graphite based paints.
5. Nevermind - found someone but thought "sod it, I should be more than capable of this". So I stripped out the pickups and foil lined the whole thing, including the little channel between cavities. Fitted new wires to the pickups as well as the stupid old school waxed cloth had work hardened significantly and were almost totally knackered. Now silent as a mouse (well, apart from the intended notes)
6. Anybody able to suggest someone who can do a nice professional job of sheilding a bass for me please? Thanks

9. I think it sounds like you've lost yourself and your mind is flying in 15 different directions at once thinking "I want this, I want that" grasping for things. Stop trying. Declutter... 10. Another one for the list: David J (Bauhaus)

12. Sold Jim some HB2's - nice and easy transaction, a pleasure to deal with.
13. Nice bass and a great price for a US model - best of luck with the sale
14. Requested info on dimensions:
15. Bought some Hipshot HB2s - smooth and easy transaction with nice fast postage.
16. These literally arrived today as I just bought them from another BCer - to be honest I pulled the trigger pretty impulsively as I also had a set of ultralites on order, which it turns out work better for this particular bass. Perfect condition, with all the bushings/screws/original box etc. Nice action and tuning stability and a straight swap for a 70's style fender tuner. Also a weight saving to be made, which is not to be sniffed at when you put them on the end of a bass necks leverage. Original fender tuner weighs 110g and these are 92g, so a set of 4 shaves another 72g off your headstock.
17. PM'd - I shouldn't have sold the sexy red one I bought from Clarky
18. A generous offer mate but I'm not really sure! I've just been having a little string-fest on the tony franklin. I've still got a set of d'addario nylon tapes that you had on my original TF. Can't quite get my head around tapes - with my old fav set of sunbeams I can get that real mwaah out of it, I guess with a nice low action the tapes will do the same thing?
19. That'll teach me for doing my chores so early - missed it!
20.
Legion, that's my bass! I'm very glad you didn't buy it, cause it meant I could. It is a thing of abiding beauty. Thanks again Howard, or should I say Uncle Horrid? Matthew
Ahh, so thats where it ended up - if you ever...well you know...
21. Well, although there are lots of factors with strings such as compliance, feel blah blah, if they sound rubbish why would you use them. So to sum it up - I like the sound.
