1. Just bought an SWR amp head from Gareth. Straightforward and good to do business with. Recommend. Cheers, Jim
 2.
Thats by far the nicest Gibson bass I've ever seen...... Nut width and string spacing at both ends please, also any clues as to depth of neck (ie profile) as Gibbos tend to vary a lot between models I'm lead to believe......
Thanks for the comments. Personally, I don't think the photos do it justice. Here's the spec from the original Gibson data sheet. (If you want a copy, then just pm me). Neck; Species: Mahogany Profile: Rounded bass Peghead Pitch: 10 degrees Thickness at 1st Fret: .820" Thickness at 12th fret: .920" Heel Length: .625" Nut Type: Corian (and I just measured it at 40mm) Fingerboard; Rosewood Scale length: 34" Total Length: 25.913" Frets: 24 Width at 12th fret: 2.140" cheers, Jim
 3.
Hi Jim, I have the Les Paul Standard Bass (Honeyburst), lives under my bed ^_^ , for now anyway, I'll have to get around to doing a decent ad to put it back up for sale on this site. I got chapter and verse on the origin of mine from 'guitardataproject' web site, you just need the Serial No. See: Guitardataproject web address. Hope it helps with the sale. Oggy
Cheers Oggy. Just put my serial number into it and then I keep getting an error page so I'll try again later. Jim
 4. Hi, After a lot of thought (I'm going through a sensible phase), I have decided to let go of this beautiful, Nashville US made, Gibson Les Paul Double Cutaway Bass. I originally bought it from the US as an ex-demo model and I believe it to be a 2006 model. It has a AA Maple top with a Root Beer finish, rosewood neck and gold hardware including Grover tuners. Here's a link to the BGM review (issue 47); BGM Gibson LP Review When I bought this I was expecting the usual Gibson type neck dive but I was surprised by how well balanced this bass is. It will also come with the original Gibson shaped hard case. It's in excellent condition with only a couple of small nicks on the headstock (see last photo). I know I always say this but I really would like to avoid posting this one (I'm near J13 M25 but willing to meet in a reasonable distance). The case is in as good condition as the bass. As for price....well there's not too many of these around to gauge and they originally retailed at £1500.00 without case. I am asking for £950.00 Any questions, just ask or pm me. cheers, Jim
 5.
You should check out some Roy Ayres. I think he's another one that Jay Kay is, err, heavily influenced by. Probably you'll also like Incognito.
Also, check out 'Down To The Bone' especially their album 'Supercharged'. It includes a Roy Ayres track and there's some great basslines from Julian Crampton (Incognito, etc).
 6.
I have just sold an LMK so will be able to give you a fresh comparison once I've tried mine out on Monday evening.
As a LMK user, I'm keen to hear your thoughts on this. I've always heard good things about SWR and this has caught my eye. FP
 7. Here we go with my Les Paul Double Cutaway
 8.
Me again, how do they differ from a Fender Jazz? Is it the sound or build quality or maybe the playability? Damn it I wasn't going to buy any more bass's
Well this is always a subjective thing but personally, I would say that the physical aspects (a great neck and a slightly smaller, more contoured Jazz Body) make it a bass that you really want to pick up and play. As for the sound, I would say that the combination of the Aero pick ups and J east Retro preamp make this a bright sounding Jazz. I've used this in my covers band as it gives you the versatility to have a Jazz sound but you can add a little rockier edge to it when required. Others may have more A/B experience with this and other Jazz basses but all I know is that I'm still keeping my other one as my main Jazz Bass 'cause it sounds so good and it makes me play more bass. As for build quality, I've never found Lakland lacking in any area. Go on, you know it makes sense
 9.
The pickups are fine in the Miller (USA) Rip that 50c pre-amp out and install an Aguilar OBP1
Sorry to hi-jack the thread but is the general concencus that the Aguilar Pre-amp is best for a MM Jazz ? Keen to hear comments. thanks, Jim
 10.
Wontcha post it Jim?
Yep, but I've gained too many silver/grey hairs on various couriers over the years so I always state that I would prefer collection. Delivery is not out of the question. Cheers
 11. Update: Looks like I've found my Marcus Miller Jazz so this will be a straight sale only now. Sensible offers welcome. Cheers, Jim
 12.
Hello Jim, just wondering did you replace that drop D tuner gizmo ? Cheers, Karl.
Hi Karl, No, it's still on there....I just didn't mention it. Thanks, Jim
 13. All pm's replied to. I didn't mention above but I'm not after a trade for this (unless anyone can tempt me with a Marcus Miller Jazz) Cheers, Jim
 14. Hi, Here's the bass that converted me to Lakland. It's a 2006 Lakland DJ4 in Lake Placid Blue with maple block neck, Aero pick ups and it has the J East retro installed. I bought this from OBBM last summer and enjoyed it so much that I bought another one in a Natural finish which is the one that I'm keeping. It has a white pearl finish scratchplate fitted but it will also come with the original matt white one and it comes in a GTI hardcase. Excellent condition apart from the chip on the top of the headstock which I understand was accidently done where the previous owner before OBBM dropped the lid of the hardcase on the end of it. I would prefer collection (near J13 M25) or willing to meet in a reasonable distance. £SOLD for this one. Cheers, Jim

 19. Hi, I have two packs of new DR Lo-Rider Staineless Steel strings.(40,60,80,100) One packet still has the cellophane on it whilst the other has been been opened but not used. I'm now using the nickel version of these so they are surplus to requirement. £20 each including delivery or £35 total if you want both packs. Cheers, Jim
 20. Nice collection. I love the look of that hollowbody Lakland. FP
