1.
I had an Epi Les Paul which was great but I sold it to tarcher as I'm more of a Fender player. Floyd Pepper has just bought a Gibson & I know he was very pleased with it.
Yep, I've still got the Gibson. I actually have a Les Paul Double Cutwaway which I bought from the US. Root beer finish and gold hardware. Plus points with this one are the well balanced feel of the bass (It's not a neck diver), smaller body shape and the very boomy tone (especially from the E string). This thing rocks. The other thing is that it is a lovely looking bass (IMHO). For me the only down side is that it does feel limited with tone, hence I very rarely use it for gigs as I always use the Lakland Jazz and the Fender Precision. Then I ask myself as to why I keep it....but it's just too lovely to move on (At the moment). Cheers, J
2. Just did a trade with Shep on a pedal. Easy to do business with and quick payment / delivery. Cheers, Jim
3. So after buying OBBM's DJ4 in the summer, I became a Lakland convert and I'm now the proud owner of this one - a Natural DJ. Different from my current Lake Placid DJ4 in that it has the Lakland P/U's instead of the Aero's and it's still passive at the moment (the Lake Placid Blue one has the J East Retro) although I'm using it with a Sadowsky outboard Pre-amp when I need active. I need a bit of time to get it set up for my liking but if it comes up trumps, then as much as I'd like to keep them both, the LP may be on the move. Cheers, Jim

That advert has been on ebay for as long as I can remember. FP
5. As the owner of a 2006 '62 RI , it's an excellent P Bass. It's slowly becoming my only P bass these days. IMHO, it's very well priced. Grab a bargain somebody! FP
6. Just sold Jon some equipment and it was a pleasure doing business. Cheers, Jim
7. I'm used to seeing these fly off the shelf when they come up so I'm open to sensible offers for the Microbass II. It's virtually brand new. Cheers, Jim (I'm not looking for trades though.)
8.
Just got my dream 1978 Fender Precision so I have to show it
Nice one Tim. How does it sound and play? J
9. Multicomp now sold but the Microbass II is still available.
10. Hi, Comfort Strapp for sale. I'm fairly certain that this is the short version - hole to hole is 42 inches. £17.00 incl. postage Cheers, Jim
11. Hi, I have these two up for sale. EBS Microbass II - SOLD Immaculate condition with original packaging and instructions. I bought this recently but it appears that the Sadowsky DI does what I need for my simple brain so this will not be used. Grab yourself a bargain. EBS Multicomp - SOLD I've had this pedal longer but it hasn't been used for quite a while so I'm letting it go. Comes with instructions and box. Cheers, Jim
12.
Yes, it's true... Why?
Surprised if that is the case as I think the DJ is a great bass. So much so, that I've just ordered another one from the US. For those of us who prefer the slightly smaller, more contoured body and still want a great sounding Jazz, then this fits the bill. Have a bump for an excellent bass. FP
13.
Sounds like the first band were probably actually jazz, as Marcus certainly isn't.
But can't Jazz can take on many formats? (Trad. Jazz, Jazz Funk, dixieland, etc etc) Whilst I agree that Marcus is in the funky end of Jazz, my original point was that personally, I struggle with whatever style you would call this 'freestyle jazz'. To my ears, it just comes out as noise. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with that but I look at other people listening and nodding to the music and wonder what they are hearing? FP
14.
So did anyone see this gig? How was it? Neil.
OK, I'll try to be as objective as possible as I am a big fan of MM but I thought it was absolutely fantastic. He had some very talented youngsters with him and they all gave a more modern update on (IMHO) the 80's sounding Tutu album. Plus they did a couple of MM tracks and others. Good venue, good sound and a great performance. I wanted to go and see it again. BTW, The only downside for me was the support act - Gary Husband (Level 42 drummer) and his jazz quartet 'Drive'. As much as I try to understand this type of jazz music (think The Fast Show's Jazz Club...nice!), I just can't get it. The DB player was playing his heart out but it did nothing for me.I knew I was in trouble when the sax player in Drive stopped playing and just closed his eyes.......... There was another support act on the public stage beforehand and they were doing the same improv. style jazz. I just struggled to see the link between what all the individuals were all playing.
15.
Thanks to Jim (Floyd Pepper) for coming over to the college and donating us some bits of kit! We now have an Ibanez Soundwave bass guitar and Ibanez practise amp to add to our music department. Cheers Jim! Attached is a pic of a student rocking out on the bass
Great pic Ben. Better to be used than sitting in my loft! Best of luck
16.
First one - wouldn't touch. Overpriced Third one, nice but £499? Last one - nice but I reckon you could walk into a shop and get one for that(ish) with some negotiation. Second one all the way for me if I could get it for £6-650.
I had a look at them all before reading the replies so far and my thoughts were exactly the same as MTB. FP
17. George Michael - Bought Mrs. FP the tickets thinking that she would take her sister but at the last moment, I made up the numbers...and blimey, he's good live. FP
18. Top Guy. Easy to deal with and good communication. Jim
19. I remember reading somewhere that the E-Series had a good reputation and I like the matching headstock! Have a bump.
20. I bought OBBM's DJ4 with the John East Retro kit and it is now my main gigging bass because it is so versatile. I use it in a covers band and it does the job very well. I did try a BG and and DD but decided to stay with Fender for the Precision sound. FP
21. Saturday evening fireworks display bump:)
22. Sorry to possibly disappoint but personally, I thought it was a sad state of affairs. I hadn't been for a couple of years and it was very visible to see how this show is dying. The hall could not be filled, empty stands from late pull outs, no appreance from advertised companies ( Bass Merchant and Bass Direct - I'm not blaming these guys as they probably had the foresight to see what was coming and held on to their hard earned cash). I spoke with a couple of the people on the stands who also pointed out the increased width of the aisles to spread the stands out but also stopped passing trade. Apart from a couple of good drum clinics, we walked away from it feeling quite jaded about the whole thing. I assume the London Excel show is better? FP
23. Hi, Just wondering if anyone can help. Unless I'm going mad (always possible) but I seem to remember reading a thread on BC asking for musical instrument donations for a charity / club After a few searches on the site, I can't seem to find it now. If you know what I'm talking about or if you know of anything suitable, can you drop me a line. Thanks, James Just after I sent this mail, I found the original thread !
