1. Looks like this is sold.
As the original owner of this bass Jim I think this is criminally underpriced. I've seen these go for up to £600 on EBay & that's without the ashtrays and the (admittedly vulgar) case! Priced to sell quickly. On the plus side it looks like you are keeping on top of those autumn leaves in the garden which is encouraging. Do you shampoo those cream carpets? It's a great colour but you really have to make sure guests wipe there feet as they come in or you have a whole bucket load of trouble!
Many thanks for the concern of my carpet Tim and yes, the leaves are under control which is about the only thing that is!
No I guess, I bought one in natural and then sent to my luthier for a refinish in nitro sonic blue. I'll put a picture if the seller don't mind.
No probs.
  2. The P bass reduction programme continues with this CIJ Fender Sting Signature Bass based on a '53 Fender Bass. I bought this in early 2008 and I've checked the serial number which states the manufacture of it between 99-02. It is in very good condition with only a very small scratch and a small chip near the jack on the body. (more photos can be supplied). Great 2T sunburst finish and personally, I think these CIJ's are excellent quality for the money. Price is £350. I'll also provide an old hardcase with it. I'm based near J13 M25. Cheers, Jim
  3. More pictures added. For those not familiar, it has a single piece pickup ( as per '51 Tele Bass) and string through body.
  4. Hi, I've decided to thin down my collection of P basses and so, the bass that actually got me into the Precision sound is up for grabs. It's a '54 RI CIJ in the unmissable Blue Flower finish which I have had since July 2008. Previous to that it belonged to our fellow basschatter Burritobass who has informed me that it was purchased new towards the end of 2004/early 2005. I used it for a handful of gigs in 08 but its then been stored at home since then. All original stock parts and a great bass to play with a great maple neck. It is in excellent condition (I can't find a mark on it) and comes with a Rockcase Hard case finished in an interesting Snake skin finish. (you're not going to be overlooked with this combination!) I've attached a couple of quick pics so that you get the idea but I will add some more tomorrow once daylight hits us again. Price is £350.00. I always prefer not to post and I'm based near J13 M25. Cheers, Jim
  5.
Only that it's probably fairly well made and will do the job fine but a Les paul shaped bass shouldn't be allowed.
Not even one that looks as good as this?

  9. Apologies but I'm absolutely gutted to say that I will not be able to make it tomorrow due to work commitments. Have a good time tomorrow and I'll try again next year. Cheers, FP

  11. I'm not sure where you are based but personally I'd invest in some time and a train ticket to The Gallery (or other suitably equipped shop) and spend some time there getting an idea of what feels and sounds good to you. You have a good budget and it might surprise you with what you end up with:) As for me, and after a bit of experimenting, I'm more than happy with my Lakland DJ4. Not the most expensive Jazz I've ever owned but the right one for me. Cheers, FP

  14. Thanks for the suggestions. The DHA looks like the biz for me. FP
  15. I could look at a valve pedal and a separate DI but the thought of carrying as little as possible is appealing. FP

Once again Martin has come up trumps. Top man as always. Jim
  17. Hi Guys, As I'm not experienced with effects, I wondered if those with greater knowledge could help me out. For certain songs and gigs, I'm keen to emulate the 'valve' sound through either my Fender P (passive) or my Lakland DJ4 (active). At the same time, I need to get myself a DI. The EBS Microbass II looks like the one on paper, but just wondered if I should split the job up between an effect and a seperate DI, or both in one box? To give you an idea, the valve sound I'm trying to emulate is the 'Vox' amp sound. I hope I've explained myself properly and all comments welcome. Cheers, FP
  18.
Ah! I think your bass was actually up for sale at Wunjo Guitars (Denmark street) a couple of years ago - I played it (when it was the single p/up with the thumbrest!). Can any of the lads confirm this?
Yep, that's right. It also had a lump out of the body and neck! After I bought it, I took it to John who did all the work. FP
  19.
Trades ?
Thanks but not really after trades at the moment. Unless someone has an EBS Microbass II + cash? Cheers
  20.
what do you mean by 'passive'. just that it only works with passive basses? Also, how old is the model and how old is your product? I'm reallly interested in this - I got no funk on my board at the moment!
Hi, Yes, it is designed to work with Passive Basses only. I believe I'm right in saying that when Ashdown first brought out this pedal ( 2 years ago'ish? and when I bought it), they were only for passive basses. Fairly quickly afterwards, they were able to do a retro-fit so that they worked with active basses as well. As I was using only passive basses at the time, I never worried about sending it back and then I was using it less and less. I'm not sure if Ashdown would still do the active change or not, hence the low sale price. Cheers, Jim
