  1. I came to Flats via Tapewounds. There much easier on the fingertips and I prefer the tone. AS somebody said, nobody's going to notice - only bass players listen to the bass.
  2. Duke of Earl (Grey) - Gene Chandler
  3. Like so many before me, I ordered a loom from John. Like so many before me I am extremely please with it. Arrived safely packed and on the day John said it would. I'm probably just echoing what everybody else has said above - great product, great price, great bloke. It's people like John who make this forum the great place it is. Trade with confidence.
  4. You're my world - Cilla
  5. There you go!!! Hope that you're all suffering from the same lust as I am!! https://www.guitar-list.com/compareprices/17931/uk/bass%2Bguitars
  6. I like them. There's one currently available on either eBay or Gumtree - I keep looking at it - around £600 IIRC. I'm even more tempted now that I've read this thread....I HATE YOU ALL!!
  7. There was one here a while back - why can't a Strat body be substituted for a med/short scale body? Surely they are long enough. Far better looking than most IMO.
  8. I like the social aspect of rehearsals - but generally those I've played with haven't been "my friends". Gives us all a chance to bond and get to know each other. Not everybody wants to gig - some are happy to turn up practice their art once a week and chill with other like minded musicians. Check what type of people they are, if they have different goals either move on or modify your own.
  9. Would I lie to you - Charlie and Edward
  10. https://reverb.com/uk/item/66516507-vline-salome-milieu-des-annees-80-spaking-purple
  11. Little fluffy clouds - The Orb
  12. Jeans on - David Dundas
  13. Wishing Well - Terrence Trent- D'arby
  14. You take my breath away - one hit wonder
  15. Two pints of lager and a packet of crisps - Splodgeness Abounds
  16. I had a similar problem with a Rotosound Tapewound, sent them a photo, they sent a replacement string AND a new set.
  17. Hare we go again - Crystal Gayle
  18. I actually benefitted from a courier's clumsiness. Acoustic guitar arrived with a broken headstock, full refund from the seller, I had it repaired and sold it. As I said, a good luthier will have no trouble making that good as new.
  19. That is repairable... Any good luthier will be able to put that right for less than the price of a new decent quality neck. I've got to agree with @hiram.k.hackenbacker ASSUME THE WORST. I always work from the premise that couriers are idiots, assume the worst and try to compensate for that with lots of bubble wrap, a case if possible and lots of packing. Sorry it took this to learn. Understand you being angry.
  20. I ended up ordering a Ki0gon loom. I didn't know anything about the one with the bass - the Ki0gon one will be bullet proof and I will have his expertise to fall back if needed.
  21. I played one at LBGS - very tempted to buy one but held my nerve. Usual MM playability but with a much wider tonal range. Nolonger available so you won't see many come up for sale - I think this is the third I've seen - the value will probably go one way - UP.
  22. You can't always be the world's conscience. Where do you stand on Bob Marley? Serial drug abuser. Gregory Isaacs - another serial drug abuser who openly funded the Gun Trade. Bill Wyman - his involvement with an under age Mandy Smith was shocking in the 80s - nobody mentions it today. George Michael's high profile gay encounter in the toilets? The allegations about Michael Jackson are still contested - not proved. The great painters were mostly drug using, alcohol abusing dysfunctionals - Van Gogh is a classic case. James Dean was a well known "outsider" - his circle of friends included "circus freaks". Time judges people in different ways. You can not be held accountable for the actions of those whose material you reproduce.
  23. I don't want to talk about it - ebtg
  24. You're not doing anything wrong. Eventually the skin will harden without falling off (unless you're plucking really hard). I noticed that when I stopped playing over the winter (arthritis) my fingertips softened and playing roundwounds was "painful". Thankfully most of my basses have tapewounds - like using fairy liquid for strings. I've been swapping all my roundwounds for flats or tapes which are much easier on the fingertip but give a warmer, phatter tone - not everybody's Cappuccino.
  25. I can't remember what I saw it on. Ibanez??
