1. In the covers band i'm in we do the Dandy warhols Bohemian lke you its a easy song to do and found i can strum the notes although i'm still hitting an odd string which i'm not supposed to be hitting, this has a more visual effect than anything else but i enjoy doing it, anyone else use this technique and got any tips. ta.
2. As an aside, i like this bit The original sunburst finish was stripped in 1976, he was working in a band with a lead guitarist who had a black guitar, this guitarist insisted that the other guitar player and bass player should have white guitars to contrast against his, hence the sunburst coming off and the white going on...
3.
Wheres his old white tele Bass?
He says he had a tele bass stolen, maybe that was the one.
4. I love looking at the pro's collection of basses, this one belongs to Mike Watt of Iggy pop fame. I like the thelecaster. http://hootpage.com/hoot_gallery-thudstaffs.html
5.
I've been fortunate to play his bass myself. For the shot I was a bit naughty and carefully supported the bass by the massive 110-50 flatwounds he had on it, at the bridge and against my body. But the bass was light and Herbie didn't seem to mind Funny thing was that when I asked Herbie whether it really was a pre-production prototype, he wasn't so sure! It was a bit funky though - years of grime had built up around the pole pieces and pots.
Did you ask him what that switch was for, or were already clued up on that.
6. We had a keyboard player who had a hammond organ complete with bass pedals. he used to be backing for a singer. trouble was he couldn't keep his feet off the pedals, i'd be playing and there would be this sound and i'd be thinking i'm not playing those notes! it would be the k/b player on the pedals doing it without thinking, in the end we had to tie his legs to his stool to stop him, not very health and safety looking back on it.
7. Proof that you have never seen it all http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-PRO-ELECTRIC-BAN...oQQcmdZViewItem
8. This looks cool but a little low for me, i think Dee Dee Ramone is on the small side. either he's split his jeans before or he's had them made for doing the splits Shot at 2007-08-03
9. I saw a picture of Flea on the cover of a bass mag a while back and he had what appeared to be a bolt and a large washer holding is strap on and i remember thinking that's not going to come off without a spanner,
10. In the late sixties early seventies i was into prog rock but there was always the odd song with a nice little bass line that used to catch my attention, one was Disco inferno by... bugger cant remember, but i still like to warm up with it now.
11.
Should do. Long scale normally means 34 inches - any thing else is short scale and longer is extra-long. Fender Jazz are all 34" as it was Leo Fender who set the standard.
thats what i thought, but it looks as if they do need cutting. thanks bass_ferret.
12.
i love the p neck. if i had a custom it would be a p neck with blocks. that mm p is sweet and good skillz ped
Just wondered why you put a jazz neck on it
13.
my ultimate p-bass
Stick some ash trays on it and its not far off. you don't like a p bass neck?
14. I've been given a set of elites standard gauge long scale strings, will these fit a Fender Jazz? i have a feeling that they could be too long even if they are cut down, thanks.
15. The seller of this Stingray describes it as a one off, not being up on ray's what makes it a one off? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/musicman-stingray-ba...1QQcmdZViewItem

18. I'm sure this has been on ebay before, i don't think it sold.
19. Iv'e been watching this and wondering whether it would make a project or not, i didn't think there would be much compitition and i was right. Don't know if it was Japanese, i thought it could be a Marlin. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/old-japanese-precisi...1QQcmdZViewItem The thing that put me off was that the seller stated that the neck was fairly straight! Oh well, it's gone now, what do think?
20.
I really never thought I'd hear my son singing Supertramp!
Ah Supertramp. bring back music.
21. Plectrum. The guitarist in the band i'm in (it's his band, he picks the songs, gets the gigs, organises practises etc) insisted i play with a plec because it suited the songs we do.
