1. I'd really love to try one of the 5 strings one day. I loved the Fender active Jazz I played recently a LOT!
2. https://youtu.be/xMljfv_cEtY The sound is just off the band leader's video camera so not great. I do love being in this band though. totally different experience to any other music thing I've been involved with.
3. My first bass was a Fender USA P Bass, still have it
4. First gig with my latest band. In the afternoon in a small pub near where I grew up. About 8 people to start with, by the time we'd finished out second set it was pretty full and we were goaded into 2 encores. Really enjoyable, great audience, we played pretty good and my wife and daughter were able to come which is a bonus.
5. Put in place a fine system for anything that threatens the livelihood of the band.
6. Thanks, very much appreciated.
7. Cheers, actually this covers thing was started in July last year and is nothing to do with my previous thread. There has been some movement on that front though which is nice.
8. Http://www.facebook.com/themattwitheytrio/ We've been putting this together for a few months, in that time I've moved house and the bands leader had had a baby, so pretty hectic times. We managed to get a few tracks recorded as demos of our style etc. and our Facebook page setup. Going to start looking for venues to play now. The other guys are great musicians and a pleasure to play with.
9. "Can I have a go on your bass?" "Can I have a go on your Mrs?"
10. I have a amp sim thing that I could use for effects but only one power supply. Might be time to start a pedal board with proper power going to it.
11. Now I realise having other pedals makes a looper better. Welsh I hadn't sold the others especially my envelope filter. Anyway just had a lot of fun with a phaser, I should probably record some of this.
12. Jazzneck, I might go and try some slide with it now (will be through my bass rig though). Rich no problem at all, sorry for the misplacement.
13. I've wanted a looper pedal for ages, finally got one and now I want a bass with a C string :-D
14. The quality of the chords in a Major scale go major minor minor major major minor diminished So C Major scale the I chord is C Major, the II D Minor, III E Minor etc. For D dorian the I chord is D minor, the II E Minor etc. It is just the same but shifted to the right one and that is because the notes you use to create the chords can only come from the scale. That was my realisation today. Using just the white notes on a piano and skipping 1 each time to get the 3rd and 5th you can't end up with anything other than you did when you did it for the scales. MY advice would be to learn this http://www.bassology.net/lessons/lesson3.html
15.
Yes. It wouldn't do any harm to take a few minutes to assemble the 1-3-5 chords for each note in the D Dorian scale. Don't worry if the chord at B looks a bit odd - it's meant to.
Seems obvious now they are exactly the same as the triads for C Major, and why wouldn't they be given they all have the same notes. It also means I know how to arpegiate all the 7 chords for the modes too. Still no idea how that is ever going to apply to a musical situation though. Is anyone ever going to say it is a II, V, 1 in D Dorian?
16.
for any given mode, you can build chords in exactly the same way as you do with the standard major scale.
So is the first chord of D Dorian D Minor? Second E Minor etc.?
17.
Anyone ever A/B'd one with a Reidmar? I love my Reidmar, but damn this thing sounds good!!
I'm in the same boat. Thinking a Aguilar cab too.
18. The Cv squier I had was really great. I spent some money having the frets levelled and it played really nicely. The neck profile was something I felt comfortable on right away even when switching from p bass to jazz.
