1.
As I may have mentioned before on here ....... we had Lee Pomeroy, Donavan Hepburn and a couple more guys from Jeff Lynne's ELO come to see our ELO tribute band last year. They came up to meet us as we were packing down after the gig. Lee had a go on my Precision Lyte, and was a top fella. Glad I hadn't seen him until the end of the gig or else would have freaked.
My drum teacher some years back was Gregg Bissonette and one night we went to see a Van Halen tribute and he sat in for a couple (hot for teacher being one IIRC).
2. People I've played with recently include Dennis Greaves of Nine Below Zero and.... wait for it... Charlie Grima the drummer in Wizzard who was on holiday the day they recorded "I wish it could be Christmas everyday"
3. Big Generator?
4. If your gig is anywhere near Hythe, Kent you can borrow my petrol generator. It's really small.
5. Leisure battery and inverter.
6. How arrogant? I'd say maybe the opposite. The band leader put the band together because he likes what each person does. No one is arrogant enough to think they know the other person's craft better than them. I can't honestly think of a time where either of the other 2 have done something I'd think needs changing.
7. Definitely in my top 5 most played records.
8.
but if someone thinks that the changes you've made don't work they should be able to say so, in the nicest possible way
They can but that situation wouldn't arise. The point is we are a collection of musicians providing their own take and their job. I really am lucky aren't i.
9. If they want you to.play what's on the record they should pay you the same amount JPJ would get. I'm so glad I'm in my band. We play our versions of other people's songs. Make most if it up as we go along. Have a lot if fun and get paid well
10.
Has anyone got advise on how to stay loose when gigging? I'm having problems with my fingering hand when playing live. Clearly nerves are playing a part but even when I've relaxed my fingers become stiff and I lose speed in my fingering. The stiffness comes right up my forearm to my elbow. Any help would be much appreciated.
Do you practice? Do you practice like a gig i.e. long periods of playing without big breaks? If I were in your situation I'd find the song that causes the most issue and practice it over and over again without really stopping and work on a feel that lets you play without discomfort. You might be way out of whack on your technique or maybe just a tiny tweak away from perfect.
11. Stop thinking about anything other than learning. GAS is a trap that is a waste of your time. Focus on what matters. Tour bass us cool it will play well and do you forever.
12. Sunburst ESP
13. Actually it was me that suggested the bigger cab. My particular issue is with bending from the waist so pushing the short cab along hurts whereas lifting doesn't.
14. Why not see what dates you can get and see if your regular guys can do them first. It might be you only need a dep here and there.
15. I've used my 62 on all but 1 Gig in the last 2 years
16. The TC BG250 is perfect for your use case I'd say.

18. Played at an Oyster festival the other weekend. This was the only video the Guitarist put up so I'm assuming he sounded the best on it https://youtu.be/ZrcR_ug_YW0
19. I had to make a similar decision. 62 or 74 (birth year) the 74 was absolutely outstanding. The tone was incredible, it played like nothing else, it weighed 7 metric tonnes. The 62 sounded amazing, the C neck was harder to play but it sounded better than anything I'd heard before apart from the 74, it weighed very little. In the end I chose the 62 as it was for gigging not recording. If I was looking for something that I didn't have to hold for 2 hours it would have been the 74 no doubt at all.
20. You are welcome. Aparently the 2011 Fender MIJ 70s P bass had a thinner neck depth too. Weird black block inlays though.
21. Did it anyway because it is here. Width at nut = 44mm dept at first fret = 21.5mm dept at 12th fret = 25.1mm
22. I've got an early 60s C if you want some measurements from that.
23. I've been seen by various medical professionals and several thousands of my insurance companies pounds later I'm in just as much pain unfortuantely. Will figure out some sort of trolley/handle deal. Thanks all
24. I think handles that mount on the current handles might the the bodge I need. I'm 6'1" but when the can is angled back it's pretty low down especially if you are trying to get over uneven ground. I was looking at an Ampeg 6x10 on Ebay that gave me the idea for the additional handles.
25. I've been struggling with my back for a while and the worst part is bending from hte waist. My current Genz Benz 2x12 has been spot on for every gig I've played with it over the last couple of years and being on tilt back casters easy tomove about for a normal person. For me though it means bending down to reach the handles, putting me at a very awkward and painful angle. My idea then is to get something that is a 1 hand carry or a little left field taller than the 2x12 so I don't have to bend forward to wheel it around. Any recomendations? Head is an EBS Reidmar. I did consider DIY maybe a 15" with something else up top. As long as I can lean it over onto my car boot opening I can transport it. thanks
