1. I think I've seen them before - that headstock design is definitely familiar. But I've no idea of a realistic price.
2. Depends. Can look good, can look awful. I've been tempted to fit a LH Ibby neck to an SR300, but that would be Silly
3. The interesting thing about that is that the frets go all the way round. That might do interesting things to LH thumb position. Also, if you took the bouts off, you could play it with a bow
4. Upright-players may be interested. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/alembic-classico-upright-electric-bass.-/1199163782
5. When I've played P-type basses I've not been able to hear myself through the rest of the band.
6. I've got way too many basses and I need the space. What's the best way of storing them? Attic in hard case? :Leaving the strings on seems obvious.
7. They are nice enough, but not that nice... !
8. I had a look at my pink Westfield PP and compared it with a Fender MIM J neck. As far as I can tell without actually trying it, the J neck looks to be a perfect drop-in to the Westfield body.
9. I don't know Fenders, but the Westfields I've had have been good value for the price. The J+D jazz neck I have on a bitsa is OK but the fret ends are a little sharp. (Not like my playing, that;s just tuneless )
10. Lovely colour Sadly it's way out of my price range, even if I wasn't trying to reduce the herd. Good luck with your sale!
11. This has been sitting about unused for ages. Black, minor signs of use. No box, but does come with screws and Allen key.
12. Oof! That is really pretty The colour combination is gorgeous, strong without being loud.
13. Just noticed that only three of the pics have uploaded properly. More pics will arrive soon - Sunday, if I can manage it.
14. up you go...
15. Pic added to the OP.
16. Stuck a pic in the OP... I really need to do some weeding.
17. This looks really pretty, though it's probably quite a substantial project. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ancienne-basse-acoustique-a-restaurer-/192021916203?hash=item2cb565ea2b:g:tL0AAOSwo4pYIZw9
18. I don't think there's anything wrong with what the OP's saying, any more than there's something wrong with being a solo cellist.
19. Works for me too.
20. Okay, that's not what I thought you'd say My bank manager will be glad to hear it though. Good luck with it - I doubt you'll need it, from what I've heard.
21. Hmmmm... You could make up plywood "bodies" for that, bit of paint and varnish, "change" your bass every week
22.
... The thing is that I am not a particularly gifted musician. I have always been, I feel, the weakest member of every band. This has meant that I have had to learn an awful lot and I have developed tremendously as a player with each band I have been in. With this band, I feel that I am not going to be developing much. Of course, I could use this as an opportunity to take my fretless out and work on that. What do the good people of this parish think? Look for another band which is a bit more skilled, or stay in this one and see how it develops?
It sounds as if you're in danger of becoming the bandleader - you're the guy with the experience, after all. So, perhaps it's how you want it to develop?
23. It's bowed forward, evenly as far as I can see (I can't see any sign of a ski-jump).
